This mod has been created with a thought of bringing the beautiful and immersive game of STALKER from the last generation era, when it was created to an up-to-date experience you'd expect from games you play in 2009. I did not try to include every single mod out there that changes the game beyond recognition, that was not the point. The following list is the carefully chosen essential collection of most advanced and aesthetically pleasant modifications, created by talented concept artists and programmers in the past 2 years. These are meant to technically and artistically enhance the game without compromising the original feel and atmosphere developers meant you to see. You'll notice every single detail has been retouched and has a polished feel to it.

it's basically i much more realistic and teamplay heavy game than BF2 ever was, the maps are HUGE and games can last hours depending on how good the teams are.
some random clip i pulled from youtube of some sqaud http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmQp_rbrrpY&feature=related

Bebpo said:So after seeing the really cool Stalker 2009 mode that remakes the entire game in modern Crysis-like graphics, I'm curious about what user-created content has been made over the last 20 years. It seems (at least these days) that almost every PC game has at least a few mods made for it and many make the core game experience better. For example, I recently played Fallout 1 and something as simple as an interface mod that let you change equipped weapon a mouse wheel click made the game infinitely more enjoyable. So what are some great mods for games? I'm especially interested in offline Single Player mods (since I don't online game much), and mods that improve the core game either graphically or gameplay-wise or completely rehaul to be a whole new experience.
reading? wots dat?Zyzyxxz said:wait what is this Stalker mod you speak of?
All of that + a single-player mod is not likely to be replayed very many times while multiplayer is designed for it.Linkzg said:I think it's a lot harder to make a good single player mod since you need to worry about AI, pacing and all the things that come with a single player game. Multiplayer mods can just be an idea expanded. It's why most multiplayer mods are unbalanced like a motherfucker while there are a few that were truly great.

Quake Rally: Quake engine =Rally driving with machine guns and rocket-launchers. Showed how versatile the Quake engine really was, not just remaking a shooter in a shooter.

This made my day.Draft said:Natural Selection is the best.
This is my personal favorite, and the game that turned me down the dark path of sacrificing money to the PC Gaming.

Yes. Just make sure to read the directions for it. Steam directions are different.Jaagen said:It's pretty. Does it work with the steam version of Stalker?

Valve said:It is appropriate for use in broad release commercial games, but we don't think it and our support infrastructure is ready for Mods or games likely to have a very small install base or just starting out with growing their user base. It's a bit of a judgment call on our part that we have to make but past history can give you some examples of Mods and games that have reached an audience size that we think can best leverage the Steamworks features (e.g. Day of Defeat, Counter-Strike, Garry's Mod).
Most of the tools and functionality included in Steamworks is intended to support games by including ancillary functions like cheat detection and DRM. Obviously, those things won't help you build a great game in the first place -- Steamworks is not intended as a game creation platform.

The robot, codenamed Das Roboss, is the most destructive Combine creation yet. It makes Striders look like daddy long-legs.
Your mission is to infiltrate the occupied bunker and find Das Roboss. If you can destroy, steal, or otherwise remove the robot from Combine hands you will be doing City 17, and the world, a great service.

A designer faces many challenges while creating a level that is intuitive to the player. Each player has a unique way of solving a puzzle and associating the objects nearby with their surroundings. In Neuromancer, the player must use the data cubes to hack into cyberspace and decrypt barriers which unlock new areas of the physical world. The data cubes are a prime example of objects which the player must associate correctly in order to unlock new areas.
I wanted to work with cyberspace for a while and knew it would be a rewarding task to try and create two different environments and seamlessly tie them together to create a solid piece. From custom texture creation to detailed attention to the placement of assets, each area provided an artistic challenge during creation.
