Drakengard is a legend alright, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone before checking their sanity.

I mean it's a great experience and all, but there's some things to be done before he gets into the game. Especially getting a non spoiler guide in order to get the last ending.

OP, if you're willing to play this until the end I can confirm that you probably will never play anything like it and it will be a once in a lifetime experience.

No mention of Jak & Daxter yet, forshame! Precursor Legacy is the best PS2 3D platformer as far as I'm concerned (although granted you can now play it on PS3, PSVita and PS4; but it was PS2 only at the time and is still a Sony exclusive.).

Gregory Horror Show is legit the game that scares/unsettles me the most. I've still never finished it: the last one I did was Roulette Boy.

If it's anything like the UK, those games are like the only games you can pick up sealed for a reasonable price nowadays.

I know those were PS2 exclusive, but they all received noticeably better PS3 remakes, especially the God of War games. That being said, I guess if OP is emulating that doesn't really matter, but still.
 
I'll mention one that I'm sure hasn't been mentioned before:
Ar Tonelico 2

(Also: I bought 2 of the deluxe edition of that when it was released, and still have one sealed. Apparently, it now sells for $400 on ebay)

Hmmm...well, the ones on the top of my list from my reply you quoted aren't technically "exclusive" anymore as they got remastered [which are distinct from straight-up ports of the PS2 originals (IIRC, the PS2 God of Wars might be in the PSN somewhere, idk)...], which depending on your view they either got enhanced or worsened...my takes are that for Devil May Cry's remaster in the DMC HD Collection...I'm not too satisfied with the remaster quality for various reasons...not to mention they altered the jump button and gave no option to switch it back to the original :/

For the most part, I had a BLAST with Ico remaster in the Ico & SoTC collection, and I never played any of the PS2 original versions of Ico...so I don't have a frame of reference for that one.

Can't speak for the remastered God of Wars because haven't played neither's remaster yet

I think it does matter, as the PS2 originals still have something special to them that aren't there in the remasters imo (at least in the case of Devil May Cry...not sure about the other remasters mentioned in your reply yet compared to their originals)...besides, the OP specified PS2 games anyway

No, I totally get where you're coming from. Take Jak and Daxter for example; the PS3 trilogy has loads of problems that the PS2 never had. I'm just saying, if we're taking into account PS2 games that did have a re-release with technical differences, then there are a lot of cross platform games that had some. Splinter Cell for example is a different game than the PC/Xbox version, so technically that's a PS2 exclusive, and then you get stuff like San Andreas that had it's, in my opinion, definitive version on PS2.

My vote goes to Transformers Armada, pretty big open world-ish maps and great classic Transformers action. (emulator screenshot)

I used to love this game!

Did you manage to get this running well on PCSX2?
I have a PAL copy that I ripped and everything seems to run slowly even at the original res. It just feels sluggish. Everything else I've tried seems to be fine!

sorry, wouldn't know about emulators, i have a legit setup and a Sony PVM to play PS2 classics on :D But the PAL version would run at 50Hz and a little sluggish unless the game has a 60Hz option in there.

Yeah, there's a sort of hierarchy of exclusivity.
You have:
Fully exclusive: It only appeared on a single console.
Digital download: It appeared on another console in it's original state as a download.
HD remake: While the original was fully exclusive, it may have received a HD remake, potentially on multiple platforms, that changes things about the original.
Alternative versions: Games that are available on multiple platforms, but a single platform received an exclusive, alternative version of the game. Splinter Cell and Deus Ex PS2 are two examples.
Not exclusive: It appeared on multiple platforms, with either no differences, some technical differences, or platform exclusive content, like Soul Calibur 2 and 4.
