Flashback

This is one of the few places where I think that the term GOAT might actually be literally applicable.

As awesome as MGSV and Assassin's Creed are, they can get weird at high speeds and suffer from some jank in transitions. Flashback was ON POINT. 20 fps animations and super rigid rules made every single animation work beautifully and perfectly.

And while Symphony of the Night is super fluid, the animation itself looks a little unnatural. There's very little weight to Alucard's running. In Flashback there is real weight to it.

Holy fuck. Is this legit?

My contribution: I know the series itself is divisive, but Assassin's Creed games absolutely nail character locomotion. The running animations specifically of Connor and Arno, in ACIII and Unity, respectively, are top-tier.

It was patched out, but it was at one point.

also really like Palutena running animation

Sonic with the bunny hood on Big Blue could keep up on the road. It was the best.

Another for Flashback, shit was ridiculous for the time and is still one of the best. It just looks natural. It's amazing that so many games still make janky ass running animations.

No mention to the walking/running animations of Assassins Creed Unity? What kind of flop thread!

Impossible Mission's running animation blew my mind when I saw it for the first time on the good old Commodore 64. It looked so realistic!
