Best vocal song from Final Fantasy?

The replacement of Kimi ga Iru Kara with My Hands in the english version is the only actual big issue I have with FFXIII, it's such a nice song

Lots of good choices from FFXIV: Answers, Dragonsong, Ramuh's Theme, Oblivion (Shiva part 2), and Titan's theme.

Also, World's Collide from FFXIII-2 as well as Village and Void.

Man yet another FF thread completely ignoring XI and XIV.

The best FF vocal tracks are from those two games.

Distant Worlds is my #1

Good on those who called out the OP for this grave injustice :P

I find Kiss Me Goodbye incredibly moving; probably because, for various reasons, rather than the breakup song that it is, I associate it more with someone mourning the death of a loved one.

If I think on that too hard while listening I tend to get grit in my eye or something.

FF XIV Songs are really great and diversive. You have some catchy Jpop songs, than a hardcore heavy metal, rock, childish (FU King Mog) and so much more.

When I was doing my first Bossruns, i either felt really pumped up for the fight with great instrumentals and more and than I got to shiva and heard some Jpop. I was like... this doesnt sound appropriate for a MMO bossfight :D

Great thread, I get to discover some new vocal songs from the arrange albums and the MMO entries.

Just reminds me of how several of the vocal songs which got English versions were represented by their Japanese versions in the Theatrhythm series :/

What no Otherworld? C'mon now.

All being said, Suteki Da Ne is too good for me. It always gets me, gives me goosebumps. I can't take most other FF ones seriously, though 1000 Words is alright.

Supposedly RIkki is more likely to tour with Distant Worlds now, so hopefully they come back to the UK with her.

Also, Susan Calloway is awesome. She does a great english version of Suteki Da Ne (aside from the suteki da neigh part...). Her version gives me goosebumps too, so it does its job. She has Answers of course. And I love her version of Kiss Me Goodbye. Made me actually like the song. Now it's the second thing I like from FFXII.

Eyes on Me. Amazing song, especially the orchestrated version.

Melodies of Life is a close second. Also Aeris theme.

Celes
Opera
FFVI

This list without the best is completely useless.

This counts as a vocal song for me:

FFVI: Aria di Mezzo Carattere

Of those? Suteki Da Ne, but there are tons from the FFXIII and XIII-2 soundtracks that I would put way above it.

Sayuri Sugawara, ORIGA, and Joelle's voices are glorious

For my money, it's the English version of Melodies of Life. Gives me goosebumps every time. Such a gorgeous song.

After that, I'd have to say Suteki da ne, My Hands, and Answers are the best.

Personally, I'm partial to 1000 Words' orchestral version, which is why I included it as opposed to the original. I think it's just such a moving song and I enjoyed the way it was incorporated into the game's soundtrack.

Eyes on Me comes in second place, but loses a few points for the non-sensical engrish lyrics. Kimi ga iru kara and My Hands are pretty cute too.

The orchestral version of 1000 words is something special. I think the Japanese version has superior lyrics. Having studied some Japanese and music, it is achingly poignant.

Also, Eyes on me in second - Faye's voice is so graceful.

I haven't played FF XIV but I listened to "Answers" and it sure is a good song. I think I'll have a better appreciation for it if I actually played the game.

But that said, my current fave FF theme song has to be Bump of Chicken's "ZERO" from FF Type-0. It just works so well with the ending.

Here's a video on YouTube that somehow escaped the recording company's ever-watchful eyes, but keep in mind that this has MAJOR SPOILERS should you want to give it a listen. If you want to listen to the song but want to avoid spoilers, I suggest that you let the video play in the background while you have another tab open. Though you still have to try to ignore the overlapping dialogue.

You don't really even have to play the game. Just watch the End of an Era video (Kagari linked it in this thread) and you have an idea of what 1.0 was, and how ARR starts.

Seems like this discussion would fare better if we kept it to the single *main* vocal song for each title in question (which yes, means ignoring all the tracks with vocals from FFXIV).

Eyes of Me would be my pick.

Thanks Falk. The thing is, I am debating whether I would play FF XIV so I'm trying to avoid spoilers just in case I go ahead with it. Haha! But yeah, it's already a very solid song.

If it's the video/song I'm thinking of, there's no spoilers since it's literally the end of the now-unavailable version of FFXIV/beginning of ARR.

If I had to pick a #1, it would be Distant Worlds. Answers would probably come in at #2. I also might be the only person in the world who likes 1000 Words (FFX-2).

I've probably got the most fondness for Eye on Me tbh, but I have to admit to having a genuine love for the OST to FFXIII-2. Lot of really nice vocal tracks in there. Crazy Chocobo and Limit Break are the bomb.
