Best wireless controller option for PS2?

Like the title says. I am looking for a good quality wireless controller for my PS2. I've started playing through some of my PS2 backlog and am looking for something a bit more comfortable than being thethered to my PS2. I have an extension cable on my controller right now but that really doesnt work all that great.

So I'm looking for something that is
-wireless
-has rumble
-runs on AA batteries
-has good battery life
-is comfortable to hold

any suggestions?
 
This question has been asked many times (use that search button thingie!) and the answer is always the same.

The Logitech PS2 wireless controller is the best one, without question.
 
But the d-pad on the Logitech sucks hard.

I've yet to try the Sega Surfwave controller, it is meant to be the best.

I have a Hori Wireless Anashin and it sucks. Adds lag which makes GoW QTE sequences harder. Also the rumble is quite weak.
 
i have the Airstyle wireless controllers, which are essentially the Sega ones branded differently... They are great- they feel weighty and uncheap for starters! I've never had any lag (unless I use eco mode) and the rumble works as well as the official dual shocks.

I really enjoy the D-Pad on the Logitech. Makes getting around in Resident Evil 1 a breeze compared to the standard controllers.

It's not as bad as the original Sony dpad. :D

More seriously, while the Logitech dpad, is not as precise or responsive as the Dual Shock dpad, it's still a lot more comfortable, and is cooler to handle, especially when you don't like the "X hole" in the middle of the Sony dpad. In the end it's a very solid dpad, way better than what you can find on a 360 controller or on a PSP.

My only concern remains the shape and the pretty high price, but the quality is here : the buttons are very responsive, the analog pressure is well done, the sticks are good, the battery last long, it's pretty much perfect.

edit : and dpad are only used for menus on PS2 games.

Glad to see it was post 2 :D

Some people complain about the D-Pad, but it's just what you like. If you like floating-pads then it's for you, if not get something else. Personally the Logitech Wireless PS2 controller is the most perfectly comfortable controller I've ever held in my hands.

This can't be repeated enough times. About the only criticism I can think of is that the rumble motor is different from the one in the first party controller, so some special effects that relied on the specific physical characteristics of the DualShock's rumble don't quite work as intended.

Katamari Damacy, for instance - it activates the motor just long enough for a complete revolution of the weight that causes a solid 'click' on the DualShock - the Logitech controller renders this as a brief, barely perceptible buzz.

I found the Logitech dpad very very loose. I would rate it along side a fixed 360 dpad.

I actually quite like the PS1/PS2/PS3 dpad a lot so something like the surf wave would be perfect for me - if I could get hold of the damn thing.

However... Anyone else experience problems with MGS when playing with this control? I really have to press down hard on the button to get them to register.
 
The logitech one is great, and I've got both the Xbox and PS2 versions. They may have fixed the problem with a later revision, but I've had to go through several of the PS2 versions since the square or X button always seemed to start sticking after 20 or 30 hours of use. One of my friends also has the same logitech pad with the same problem.
 
I always felt the wireless logitech had really shitty buttons :/

The dpad has lots of travel but the switches don't activate until the very end.
The shoulder buttons suffer the same problem, lots of travel and only activate when fully pressed.
The pressure sensitive buttons "click" too early. Sure it makes it feel less squishy than the dualshock but I find myself constantly firing instead of 'holstering' in mgs3. They work fine otherwise though.

Having said that, the analog sticks are fantastic. Way, WAY better than the dualshock's.

Aside from the sticks and obviously being wireless, I hate it. Is it just me or is my controller busted? I've been playing a lot on my arcade stick lately so I guess I'm too used to having my sanwa pushbuttons activate the moment I touch them >_>
 
without the shadow of a doubt the "HORI Wireless Anashin 2 Turbo", HP2-188.
It's the 2nd generation of the Wireless Anashin, much smaller and responsive.
Best PS2 controller ever ihmo.
