Biggest live concert regret

What has been a live show that you have had a chance to see but for some reason missed for a dumb or stupid reason

My biggest regret:

I skipped on seeing Leonard Cohen at Coachella to get a better spot for Morrissey who I had seen many a time during my Smiths/Moz obesssive phase. It was an awful show from Morrissey, and everyone until this day raves about Cohen's performance at that Coachella, he even cried when he played Hallelujah.
 
I wish I had seen Nirvana and James Brown. I was just too young for Nirvana, and I let some jerkoff friend talk me out of going to see JB.
 
Radio1 Big Weekend 2012

Its free so you have to apply for tickets, and for the first year you had to take somebody else that has also applied.
I was in sixth form so everyone was applying, told somebody the above rule and it turns out they didn't know, so they said they would take me. Felt morally obliged to say I'd take them too despite the fact that we have completely different music tastes

Turns out I win tickets, and I take her. Literally the only person she wanted to see the entire day was Jay Z who was headlining. I couldn't give a toss about him but Watch the Throne had just come out and I was really digging that album so I was like cool.

Thought that Jay Z would have clashed with Swedish House Mafia who I ADORE but I was like, ok if its the only person you want to see we'll go see Jay instead (turns out they didn't but thats how much she wanted to see Jay)

Gets to his set, hes doing his solo stuff and I'm not feeling it too much because I don't know it and then I see my friend isn't either. After like two songs she just turns to me and says she wants to go because shes had enough. I'm like what? His sets just started, hes not played any of his new stuff why do you wanna go?

Turns out the only reason she wanted to see Jay was because she thought he might have brought out Linkin Park (she was more of a rock metal person). As we were walking out of the crowd Jay decides to bring out Kanye and Rihanna, so I'm like YES what I wanted and my friend is like no we're leaving and practically drags me out of the arena.

Nearly five years ago to the day and I am still bitter

I'm seeing Jay again in two weeks at V festival but I doubt Rih or Kanye will be making an appearance
Hoping for a bit of bey with those babes though
 
Not quite what you're asking for, but I almost didn't go to a show earlier this year because I only kinda sorta knew the band and I was feeling down that day. (Japanese group - charisma.com, for reference). Ended up loving it and liking their music even more, buying a couple more of their CDs afterwards.

I had a chance to see Shonen Knife many years ago but ended up not going - not something I hugely regret, but I liked a few of their songs at the time so I wish I had gone.

And got free tickets to go see Charli XCX last minute but couldn't find anyone to go with me because it was on a Wednesday
Bought tickets to go see Marina and the Diamonds and then it was the same day as my close family friends wedding

The above all happened in about two months. I was so mad

By all accounts it was a fucking amazing show. Fortunately, I did see them at a later date.

I missed Tool at the 2006 Download Festival because I had an argument with my then girlfriend on the way, threw a huge tantrum and refused to go with her to see them. My favourite band in the whole world, not even sure if they've been back to the UK since, aside from maybe London. That's actually a top 5 regret from my whole life, Not just a concert one. What an idiot.
 
never saw RATM :( they were in Finland when i was younger.. i would have been so stoked. dont even remember why i didnt go.

also wanted to see Tom Petty play in London this summer (perhaps their last european show) but then ISIS urged their followers to massacre people at concerts and the Ariane Grande attack happened so..

ouch. i saw Tool during that tour, waited a decade to see them.. cant remember a thing. i think the sound was shit and we couldn't see much of the stage, goddamnit. feel better?
 
Probably Bowie. My inner teen grunge warrior is also upset about never seeing Alice in Chains while Stayley was still alive.

I managed to see Leonard Cohen though, at Glastonbury '08. He was incredible.

Oh yeah, I never got to see Nirvana but I was 14 when Kurt died so couldn't independently attend gigs yet.
 
Saw Sonic Youth when I was 17. Chose to get quite drunk beforehand. Obviously they broke up before I got another chance.
 
Getting high and watching Depeche Mode. And then getting the munchies real hard. It sucked.

Then my position in audience meant the.fucking camera man doing audience reaction in my face the entire gig . I'm like fuck off mate.
 
Never got to see Linkin Park live. I'd kinda stopped following their music and just said "meh, I'll catch them someday". Guess that's not happening.

Haha, the only time I ever watched Sonic Youth was at Reading Festival in the mid 90's. I was completely drunk on red wine and a bit stoned. I had no idea what they were playing at the time but the light show sure did it for me.
 
Ennio Morricone came to my city a couple of years ago for his concert tour and I was put off by the price.

At the first gig I ever went to, I wore this big woollen coat and did not appreciate how hot gigs can get. Silly me.
 
I almost got to go see Ringo Starr when I was 15 but my brother threw a baby fit I couldn't go and then I talked my mom into taking me and a friend to see Audioslave when I was 16 but my brother threw another baby fit and I missed that one too. I kinda can't stand my brother.
 
Didn't go to see My Bloody Valentine out of pure laziness. Couldn't see a Thurston Moore solo gig because I didn't know he was coming.

I don't like them nearly as much as I used to, but I really wish I saw them.

I guess there's always a chance that they decide to come to Korea again, but I can't see Thurstun Moore coming, apparently there were barely any people in attendance
 
I left mid way through an absolutely amazing Duran Duran set to go and see the Smashing Pumpkins close out the Virgin festival in Melbourne sometime around 2008. Corgan and Jimmy were the only original members and they fucked around for 2 hours playing the songs no one wants to hear and doing their best Sonic Youth feedback impressions. Fuck you Billy Corgan. Simon Le Bon shits on you from a great height as a front man.
 
there was never really a chance in my life to see either johnny cash or MJ when i had the $ to do so, so i try not to beat myself up about that

so late '96 or so i was working at publix down here & a high school friend had tickets to a beach fest thing that biggie was at, and he knew i was a huge fan

my mom had grounded me over some shit i don't even recall & i asked if i could go & got a nahh you can go next time when you're in the clear

there was no next time. i have few regrets, but not sneaking out to see dude live a few months before he was gone is one of em
 
I missed a chance to see R.E.M. when they were still touring with Bill Berry.

And just last year, Elvis Costello played the city my mom lives in, and she offered to get me tickets, but there was no possible way to get off work.
 
Had tickets to see Frank Sidebottom and then I got flu and had to miss it. He never played locally again and died four years later.
 
• Smoking a whole fat spliff of Mars OG at a reggae festival. I couldn't stabilize my feet and I just wanted to go home so I didn't see the good artists.
• Not buying a ticket to see Morrissey when he played nearby a couple of months ago
• Buying a Linkin Park ticket way too late.
 
I had a chance to see Hikashu live in Canada and that's probably the last time they will ever come here. I also missed Melt Banana and I feel like they will also probably never return to Canada.

I also missed the first Canadian Polysics concert which sucked because only 4 people went and Devo was there as well and they hung out with everyone while the Polysics played. I got to see them the next year but it was packed and no Devo. Still an amazing show tho.
 
My brother, my best friend at the time and I went to Ozzfest 2004. We had front row tickets and everything. 16 year old me was hyped as hell.

...and then I accidentally invited my girlfriend at the time.

It actually was an accident. We were talking and I mentioned about how we were going and said something along the lines of "and unless you can somehow come up with $250, I'll see you the day after." You know, jokingly. Well, she did. She bought her own ticket and surprised me the day before saying "Guess what I did?!".

Cut to the concert: we somehow got front row of the second stage. Got to see a lot of cool 2004 metal acts. Every Time I Die, Bleeding Through, Atreyu. Got to also watch the singer of Lacuna Coil straddle a speaker and grind it for almost her entire set. That was cool. Then the fun stopped. Girlfriend had to go to the bathroom, and demanded we all go with her. I caved due to weird high school 2nd base hopes. My friend and brother, being 16 year old edge-lords, caved sue to her explaining how and why she needed to change her tampon.

We missed Slipknot playing most songs off of Iowa and Vol. 3, Lamb of God, Devildriver, Otep (during her "W. Bush will kill us all" phase, god we were all so innocent then.) and Hatebreed right after "I Will Be Heard" had just come out.

We broke up about a month later due to unrelated reasons.
 
My friend and I had tickets to the Rhyme and Reason tour that had Rage Against the Machine and the Beastie Boys, but the show was cancelled after one of the Beasties broke his arm. I never ended up seeing either act live.

Haha. When I told some people that I saw Duran Duran a few years back, they snickered. They were so amazing live and Simon's voices still sounds great.

I was kind of bummed that I turned down seeing Velvet Revolver with my buddies years back. I also had a chance to see Prince playing in a small venue, maybe 5 years back, but didn't want to spend the money. Doh!

Also, not a concert, but a friend and I had discussed seeing Lewis Black with Mitch Hedberg back in '03, maybe '04. I was lazy and said, always next time. We got to see Lewis Black years later, but absolutely regretted not seeing Mitch when we had a chance. My friend still gives me shit for that.
 
Never seeing The White Stripes live.

The band responsible for me caring about music in any real capacity. I don't know why but I figured they would be around forever. Stupid.

If you love a band go see them.
I ended up seeing Jack White on tour several years later and it was amazing.
 
I left a Protest The Hero concert early to hang out with my then-girlfriend. Don't really regret it that much though.
 
Not really his fault but I saw ScHoolboy Q once and the AC blew at the venue about halfway in. So he half-assed most of the show and complained about the heat whilst sweating like crazy. He was NOT happy and the show suffered for it.

Edit: guilty of not fully reading OP. But I’ll leave this here as reminder to not do this again.

On topic, I bought tickets to rolling loud but all my friends bailed out and never bought a ticket because they’re horrible with their money and they would rather smoke. I didn’t want to go by myself so I just didn’t. Wasted money.
 
I missed Steely Dan with Steve Winwood last year.

I also ended up missing over half of the Gorillaz show in Chicago during the Plastic Beach tour.

Not my regret: I saw Radiohead with Grizzly Bear and my friend drank so much before the show that he passed out on the lawn before Radiohead went on and slept through the whole set.
 
I had the chance to see both QotSA and NIN play but on the day I decided to sell my ticket to my friend so he could go with his GF at the time as I would have been going to the show alone and whited out instead.
 
My biggest concert regret is not going to see Linkin Park in concert sooner. I had an opportunity to see them after they'd released The Hunting Party, but I passed it up since there was a lot happening in my life at the time.

They were always my favorite band - I grew up with them and it was a dream of mine to go see them live, and it wasn't until a couple months ago that my wife and I finally had the financial stability to buy tickets to see them. The concert would've been on August 17th. Really, terribly sad that it never came to be.
 
I'm not a big fan but I could go see U2 for free a week ago but I declined because i had other plans. But those plans didn't happen.
 
I just missed The U2 Joshua Tree tour. I had a ticket but I had just gotten laid off and decided it was smart to sell it and make some money.
I regret that big time as it's probably my all time favorite album.

Way Out West a couple of years back. The weather was shit, I had lost my friends, my phone was dead, and I wasn't feeling the alcohol.

So I went home instead of staying for Prince.

2000. I had seen RATM the year before and was looking forward to seeing them again.
 
Travis Scott & Young Thug around 2013, when the two had released their strongest projects.

Gorillaz live debut of "Humanz" where there were only 100 people allowed in and I was around the 120-range.
