I believe so.

Every time there's a big talk about 9/11 someone links it.

Pretty cool to read through.
It doesn't appear to be in the Archive section. Does anyone have a link?

Pretty fucking shocked people don't know about what happened in Norway, how can people not know that? Shit, watch the news once in a while people, good to know what's happening in the world.

I'm actually thinking of stopping.

I know what happened, but I'd never seen that picture.

Yeesh.

The FF13 thread was epic. That was the first time I ever visited this forum.

The Japanese tsunami was probably the most shocking, though. In retrospect, I doubt there was a bigger source of tsunami news on the web at the time.

The 2010 World Cup game between Ghana and Uruquay. The Suarez handball

This generated atleast 50 'OMG' 'Holy shiiiit' posts in under a minute. That's an entire page. The subsequent penalty kick miss led to a further two pages of 'WTF' 'Omg' 'Holy shit' posts. It was rumoured to have crashed the servers.
never heard of it

It's chilling reading these reactions. You know I still watch those "as it happened" specials on TV. Something hypnotic about watching everything you knew change in minutes.

The thread does remind me how in the hours and days after the attacks, peoples of other nations did give their heartfelt support and condolences in a very that felt very real. These days, I'm ashamed to say that when a tragedy occurs it feels like people are just going through the motions when they say "thoughts and prayers". Is it just me that thinks so?

I feel awful that the first thing I thought when I looked at that thread was "Wow, everyone's a mod"
Eh that was one of the first things that came to my mind too. I noticed the red names before I could read anything

Surprised nobody's mentioned the JBaird meltdown thread.

Amazing amounts of twists and turns in this thread.
Wasn't really shocking because most people called bullshit early on.

Zenith's revelation (months and months later, in another thread) that he had posed as an officer of the law to talk to the "girlfriend" through the internet was shocking, however. Even moreso because he wasn't banned for playing (literally) Detective-GAF.

Wow, that is some mindblowing shit right there. It's amazing just how right almost everyone was.

Also the confusion. It's incredible. Do you remember the first time you saw a passenger jet after 9/11? Especially one that was low flying...

Thanks for reminding me about that. It made him come off as a bigger ass than the OP.

I remember reading that thread, but never posting in it since we were watching what was happening in my 2nd period class, senior year. Crazy stuff!

Knowing nothing else about you, this is the initial thing that popped into my head when i saw that.

Step 1: Lose weight

Step 2: Become serial killer

The car gives a stalkerish vibe. Yeah, I can dig it.

I don't really follow news all that much, I know about the norway shooting but strangely most of my friends don't seem to give a shit when I discuss it with them, unlike other incidents.

I could be looking too much into it and generalizing but it does seems that the awareness is a bit low. I had trouble keeping up with the news though, but then I mostly browse neogaf and that thread was kind of going fast with little info in the OP.

This thread was moving so fast. Every refresh there was a new page.

I remember the "go ly dow" thread
moving ridiculously fast too.
I was on when this thread was going down but for some reason I refused to click on it. One of the biggest regrets of my life =/
