Binary Domain for PC announced [April 27, Steam, $39.99]

Game beaten.

It was better then expected and I already had pretty high expectations due tp GAF.

Too bad they couldn't fix the pre-patch issues and the broken Versus Mode before realse. The bad press probably lost them a few sales.

Played a bunch of invasion. There's so many little bad decisions that bring down what should be an awesome mode. With people being unable to join mid-game, being only able to buy stuff every five rounds (which makes some of that stuff totally useless), not being able to buy anything when you respawn, and starting completely over if you fail instead of at the last group. Having three maps and only two of them being any good doesn't help either.

I can't believe I bought a game at full price on steam.

I can't believe it was this game of all games. But the demo and GAF impressions really pushed me really hard to do it. Installing right now.

Installed my new GTX 680.. (got tired of ATI driver issues.. TERA locks and freezes were the last straw)..

and Binary Domain runs beautifully.. during fire fights it drops briefly to 58 fps and then goes back to 60.. unlike my 7970, where it drops down to 30-40.

Looking forward to starting the game over and playing it on a card where I won't get erratic framerate drops.

Trying to get downsampling to work with my AMD card using the enbseries wrapper for GTA 4 lol. I got it to actually start the game at 2880x1620, but it doesn't scale down to 1080p, just stays too big the whole time. Fail.

Remember this a Steamworks game, and GreenmanGaming currently has it on sale for 32 bucks:

Just take the CD key and activate it in Steam. Going to try the updated demo tonight, and if I like the changes I'll be joining in.

Thanks for the heads up, I got it as a palate cleanser after the disappointing Sniper Elite V2.

Man, this port is seriously fucking optimized on my rig. 460 1gb and I'm pulling in a solid 60 at 2560x1440 downsampling to 1080p. Bumped up the FOV to 65 (80 made the character model look kinda funny) and it looks great:

So, what am I missing in regards to downsampling? I made the resolution:

But can't choose it in-game:

Someone said you don't actually have to set it to 2560x1440, so, what's going on? Did I do something wrong?

Let us know how you like it :D

How are you finding it with framerates?

Man fuck the haters, this game feels amazing at 60 fps in combat.

It should show up in the drop down for resolution selection. Are you sure all the scaling options are set correctly in the control panel?
That's probably what it is. I'm not actually sure what to do, though.

This is what it currently looks like:

I assume I have to change it to manual and change the active pixels to 1920x1080?

Between 75-90 for standard FOV or for both standard and aiming?

Standard should be a little higher than the aiming one as it helps to have a little bit of zoom when holding down the right trigger. The game slider only goes up to 80 and the default is like 45 so I settled on 65 as the higher settings show a bit too much of the character model and it looks off.

So I really don't want to read through all 9 pages. What is so great about this game in a nutshell?
TPS. 60 FPS. Fun combat. Killing robots; lots and lots of robots. Great music. Characters are likeable. Lots of replayability (at least for me). Decent length. $40.

Also, just try the demo if you're curious. That's why it's there.

Dammit!

Man, I love that line. The way he says it is hilarious. Last playthrough I was dying from laughter on the ski part. He'd be talking and all of a sudden, "Dammit!" because he kept hitting shit. It would happen over and over. I was in tears.

Another hilarious line from Big Bo is towards the end, when he says:
"Stick with me, i got you son! You'll be the survivor for a long time!"
Awesome delivery.

Aw shit, made a mistake in my squad selection on chapter 5, don't think I'll get the
Max trust: Cain
achievement on this playthrough.

Speaking of achievements, is the "Data Collector: Collect 20 SECURITY-COM in Campaign." one bugged? While they're rather hard to find I've got many, many more than 20 and still no achievement.

It's weird... I rarely replay games I've finished and usually it takes years for me to do so. But this one... I'm on chapter 5 on my second playthrough already, and I feel like starting a third when I'm done.

This needs a trilogy, stat.

Who did people choose for their team when they had the option? I experimented around but settled on Faye (as she was the obvious love interest) and Charlie (nice voice actor, SMG and he sometimes gave info on the mission).

That's not an Achievement on the PC version.

Hm. Not sure, honestly. I think mine unlocked normally. You can check for sure how many you have by going into Chapter Select and counting them per segment.

While it's not weird for me to replay games, it is weird for me to replay them almost immediately after beating them. Usually I give it a few months. I'm about halfway done with my third playthrough on No Mercy. The game is just a blast to play, honestly.

It's a hidden one: http://steamcommunity.com/stats/BinaryDomain/achievements/ (spoilers, obviously)

Ah! Yeah, I don't have twenty after all it seems, I was counting the IRTA data entries but I guess a lot of them aren't items you pick up.

Does anyone have any recommend control settings? I'm enjoying the game so far but the controls are not quite clicking and since I have to quit the game everytime I want to fiddle with the controls trying to adjust them myself is very annoying.

This is what I use:

Feels very natural to me.

Crud, set out to get some new Max Trust achievements on my second run (without "farming" for it), but failed. I was jut a tiny blip away from getting Max Trust with Rachael too, I guess she ran into my line of fire just one or two times too many, heh.

I can't say I really used squad commands very often, they didn't seem to help all that much. "Cover me" just makes them leave cover and run around like headless chicken. But maybe that's one way to boost your trust levels a little extra?

There's also one (?) darn shopping terminal I'm not finding, as I also didn't get the Shopping / Nanomachines achievements. Gonna have to look their locations up. EDIT: Ah.
Second section of the subway terminal, on your left as you enter but behind the wall.
Sneaky!

Haha. That's the one that got me the Achievement, too, in subsequent playthroughs.

Completed the game after 9 hours. And definetly it's one of the best shooters this gen. Only surpased by Vanquish, and BD has more variety, better characters and plot.

I only wish there were more gun variety. Also I heard about different endings, is that true? I got the one
where Dan and Faye get reunited and have a kiss after Dan being badass, also Bo died...I assume it can be saved?

Yup.
Everyone can survive the final encounter if you have a very high trust (4 bar) with all member of your squad.

I love how they make the japanese cop
dissapear and you never heard of him again
. I quite liked the character and deserved more exposure.

Wow, had no idea. Didn't end up that way for me and I thought that being a definite thing was still crazily poignant.

On my second playthrough now, still put off by the lack of ng+

Who hates this game? It's a huge GAF hit! The game is awesome.
I was not expecting for the story beats to feel so similar to MGS and RE.

It seems I've become so used to the western flavouring (which Vanquish also followed) that I was taken off guard by the different pacing of this game. A real shame this did so badly sales-wise.

It's a shame because the plot has a lot of potential and could be great if it was expanded on a second game, since basically the most interesting part of it was brought in the last half hour of the game.

And also the conversation system was a bit dull in this game, but it could have been expanded to something really cool...

Now I feel sad, how in the world ORC sells all those units and this so little....

I wonder how this has done so far sales-wise. I bought it before a Steam sale ffs, so I hope it pays off for Sega. Do we have any clue how well Sonic Generations did?

Beat the game on Normal and am still stuck on it. Got a backlog from hell like everyone else, but all I'm playing is Hard mode now with the FOV patch.

What a game. I know this will make my Top 10 this year. What a game. IMO, better than ME3 and Gears 3. And I'm not even "that guy" who hates on popular titles in favor of obscure stuff.

IDK but I've gifted it twice already just because I want a sequel like I want oxygen. Nothing like a First Party SEGA game that involved shooting robots. All over my face. Everyday.
