Bioshock new ingame Images X360

not dissapointed because I wouldn't have ever killed a little sister in the first place.....and I can understand why they would just expel the option completely....

Very dissapointing about the girl. As mentioned, it was the ultimate moral choice. It involved an older girl but the event in KOTOR hit hard in terms of story telling. Besides, couldn't you kills kids left and right in B&W(2).

Did you guys expect to run around shooting little girls in the face with a shotgun? AO rating easily if that was the case.

M=17+, AO=18+

I am 22, and I am perfectly willing to buy an "Adults Only" game, particularly something like Bioshock where it seems like they wouldn't just be doing it for pure shock value. It's just a shame places like Wal-Mart wouldn't bother carrying them and they'd lose tons of money.

Why are people more hyped about this and not The Darkness? The Darkness looks way better and more scarier compared to this

because they're two completely different games being released at different points in the year

Are you people missing the part where it says you CAN still kill the girls?

You just can't do it with a shotgun. There are still consequences for choosing to harvest them, it's just that wiping little girl brain matter off your jacket is no longer one of them

big deal

That's pretty interesting. I like that he came out and explained it like a man. :D

The game sounds pretty damn disturbing now, probably more so than System Shock....

Huh?

Two completely different games and of course this is from the makers of System Shock and is the spiritual successor. And more importantly, the atmosphere on this game is unique and astounding IMO.

which can honestly be more distubring....letting a child slowly "starve" to death

Because one is by a developer of a decent but overrated movie license game, and the other is the developer of some of the greatest games ever?

hi, that's one of my favourite games, and blurry isometric sprites (which were removed in Europe) don't quite stack up against today's 3D models/animation/sound etc.

the media would go apeshit if Irrational provided the player with a child murder simulator, especially given the sheer variety of methods you could use in Bioshock. I'm pretty sure they're going to get upset as it is.

The Darkness doesn't look scary at all.

This too.

Well, I guess it explains that. I mean, I would be more careful planning traps and such, if I knew the little sisters would come around the corner. Same with throwing grenades and whatnot. *shrugs* I will say I am glad that the publisher was willing to go the distance. Its refreshing to hear that in this day and age. So many games and movies cut to get that T rating. This needs to get here, asap.

Nah, moral choces in KotOR sucked compared to Jade Empire. sadly, it was one of only few things that JE did better.

As for Fallout vs Bioshock - i think killing little Sisters would be a lot more convincing and striking than killing children in Fallout. Of course PR response is bullsh*t, but what could they possibly do?:(

Why would it? In Fallout killing children was something you carried with you the entire time.

Not being able to kill Little Sisters directly with weapons isn't a problem to me. What's the point if they don't represent a direct threat, like the Big Daddy guarding her? The general audience for console games is apparently too immature to take such actions, even in the clearest of context, it seems. Nevermind the media roasting that it would inevitably attract. Console games, being so casual in their appeal anyway, probably have to wait until games are taken more seriously as a medium. In that way, it's like film...where it took years and years to gain more widespread understanding of the medium and its slow acceptance of tackling more realistic subjects.

Attributing the emotional fallout for a Little Sister to your actions is enough and being able to indiscriminately kill one with a weapon you so easily use takes away from the emotional impact of simply making her defenseless by taking out her protector. Giving the player a result that plays out to you and appeals to your emotions with dialogue and animation instead of simply just exploding the model and having ragdoll/softbody simulation kick in is far more effective. There's no reality in simply watching a model fall down if it doesn't first convey some kind of believable humanity and doesn't give you reason to think and digest your actions first.

Yeah, from what I've seen, the player is the one dishing out the fear in the darkness.

You guys probably missed the Xplay preview... oh and Chronicles of Riddick was awesome! How can anyone call that a good movie lisense game? It's one of the best FPS's ever

Are you for real?

The beginning and end were quite good, but the middle was pure ass. The mines and sewers with the freaks were terrible. And since that middle is about 3 hours of a 6 hour game, there's no way it's one of the best FPS ever

Well that's your opinion but I thought the game was awesome from beginning to end. It's really under appreciated and sold quite badly.

Anyway I haven't even played System Shock so I should just shut up

You do kill them, you just don't see them die or shoot them in the face.

If you harvest the Adam, the little girls will die.

I really understand his reasoning for not allowing the killing of Little Sisters, but now, when she is helpless, you throw a grenade at her and what happens? Invulnerable?

Since he said there's a spoiler reason why they're immune to physical attacks, I doubt that'll chance just because the Big Daddy is dead. I do respect that he pointed out the change had to do with game balance as well, since the friendly fire was getting out of hand. I'm sure it also makes it easier for the ESRB, but it's good to know that there's a good explaination given for why they would want to make that change.

The sewers were awful, I'll give you that. I totally forgot about that part until I saw the video about the Butchers Bay remake and they had a clip with that area. I never want to visit the blind prophet ever again.

I liked the mines though. Especially trying to get the hell out of there. The intensity level went through the roof.

That's it right there.

Before: You kill them, then get the Adam.

Now: You get the Adam, then they die.

Only difference is that you can't blast them in the face with a shotgun.

I'm a bit dissapointed that they took out the option to do that, since it takes away some of the freedom you have [to an extent], but it honestly doesn't bother me and probably won't even affect the way I play the game anyway.

Ya I like teh approach, because really, shooting the girls doesn't seem too gratifying to me, so I like how they concentrate on the biger picture (morality of exploitation), rather than teh smaller picture (murdering little girls). You really don't need to see the girls die, or shoot them yourself, you know you are killing them by harvesting.

With that said, I would liek to see corpses littered around. It would really make you feel like a POS for exploiting, if everwhere you went you saw the bodies of little girls and knew that you were the one who caused it.
