Bioshock (not the sequel) coming to PS3? Edit: Confirmed, Fall 08

It happens on both sides. There are thousands of posts on this forum of Xbots bashing games like Resistance (one of the best shooters ever made) and future PS3 shooters like Resistance 2 and Killzone 2.

I've got the feeling that it has to do with supporting a successful console. Somehow it makes them think the other camps must be envious.

This, my friend, is one of the saddest things I've ever heard. I have the same sympathy for you that I have for people who can't eat spicy foods.

Not trying to insult you at all; I just think that some of the greatest game experiences ever have been "scary" games (Resident Evil series, Silent Hill 1&2, etc), and it makes me sad that you don't dig them.

Given that all three consoles are successful now, there's no reason for it either (sorry if you misinterpreted my remarks on the last two pages as trolling).

Back to the matter at hand, I highly recommend Bioshock to everyone who likes shooters and suspenseful games. And I just don't get the people who say it should have ended at the halfway point. The second half of the game is when you get the most interesting plasmids and weapons, allowing the most creativity in dealing with enemies. Sure, the environments aren't as good, but the action is a lot better, IMO.

Holy shit, THIS!

Regarding Sunshine, the final boss was waay too easy to figure out and to beat...but the GoW1 boss was just plain ass. Ass that threw away the gameplay mechanics you learned so well in favor of a glitchy and retarded final encounter.

RE4 is intense but never scary.

It's true, maybe I should. The only response I could make is that my original post was a lot less deserving of a "tag quote" response, or its equivalent, than his was. He's a good poster, but the post I was replying to was basically one of those "picardfacepalm.gif" type of borderline joke posts, whereas when you brought up the TXB thread, it was in response to a well thought out and articulated post from me.
So well thought out and articulated your posts are that you only had to clarify your posts twice in the last 2 pages. You got me greeny. I was just jealous of your ability to make a well-articulated post..Ima sowy.. ;_; Ima sowy evil. Plz, don't ban me!

Anyway, Bioshock2!! woohoo!!

The last 10 minutes of GoW2 was a complete failure. Hell, the last scene is
a bloody QTE
.

The final boss fight is the worst thing ever conceived, so that seems reasonable.
Oh, come on. It wasn't that bad. It wasn't a great fight by any means but there have been MANY worse examples. Heck, it was already a massive improvement on the awful final battle in System Shock 2 (that was dreadful).

I couldn't finish GoW2 due to the screen tearing. I tend to notice screen tearing less than the other forms of slowdown (actual slowdown, skipped frames, and even that half-buffer stuff on the PS2) when it is moderate and used to think that when I did notice tearing, that it didn't bother me as much as the other types of slowdown....but GoW2 was too fucking choppy for me and I just stopped playing it...

It wasn't any specific time nor was it me intentionally quitting the game due to the tearing...I just stopped playing for a day and didn't put the game back in my system afterward. Recently tried continuing from where I left off but the tearing had the same effect on me. It's overly distracting, which kills my immersion...and when I finish playing I don't have that 'hook' that makes me want to continue on.

I'm kinda thankful, I ended up enjoying Chains of Olympus greatly...and I kinda get the feeling that, had I finished GoW2, I would have tired of the God of War formula mid-way through CoO

Best QTE in the game.
Kratos made Zeus his bitch
, people really need to quit hating on GoW2.

I'm a PS3 fanboy, I never bashed this game when it was on 360. It got me to buy one :D . I'm definitely going to replay this on the PS3 though. Excellent game!

I was about to buy a 360 for this game. I'm glad I couldn't afford it then.

i know they are great games. but i cant stand being scared. which is funny because i like horror movies. i can watch my friend paying RE4 for example all day np. but i dont want to be the one in controll.

and its not like i didnt try RE4, i did. till i got to the chainsaw dude. and i stopped when i tried to shoot him 1 million time and he didnt want to die. then i had to run like idiot till he killed me.

you had to see my face at that moment. it was blue and my heart was jumping like shit. i am not made to play these kind of shit. i play to have fun not to piss my pants .

guess its just not my style.

PS3 port or not, I think a year's buffer is more than enough regarding Bioshock's exclusivity. Bioshock was an amazing game.

Of course the question now is, will Bioshock 2 be on the PS3 on the same day and date as the Xbox 360. Even more importantly, just what is Microsoft's problem with maintaining real exclusives. Do they even care anymore?

I want to see Kaz roll up his sleeve and reveal a Bioshock 2 tattoo at E3.

"Bioshock 2 will be available for the PS3 on day one. In addition, there will be exclusive plasmids and episodic ballroom dances in the Fort Frolic of old, only available on the Playstation Network."

And then, later, Shane Kim: "Oh, well, you know. There will be plasmids and other downloadable content on, er, on Xbox Live. I'm sure of that."

You can say the same about Sony, except of course for the games they make themselves.

Um, outside of consolz warz, I'm glad that more people will have a chance to experience this awesome game.

... I wonder how it will sell? If I had to take a guess right now, I'd say the sales will be very disappointing, if it follows the pattern of other late ports. Then again, who knows what will happen with PS3 software sales numbers after MGS4?

It might sell well, as the user base on ps3 is older, but will it really be looking better on the ps3, or is going to ba an oblivion type of difference.......?

MS bailing out?

It reminds me of the internet's reaction to every implied PS3 exclusive turning out to be multiplatform (Assassin's Creed, Mercenaries 2, Devil May Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, etc, etc).

Mostr opf the game was not scary, but those zombie dogs were scary bastards.

Anyway, Bioshock to PS3 is brilliant news. Everyone I've talked to about it has said the game is amazing, so now I'll actually get to play the game.

Exclusives are for internet fanatics.

People care about price drops. Dropping the price on your console is an exclusive that can't be moneyhatted by anyone else, can't be timed, and can't be stolen away. And I can't really understand why MS hasn't been a bit more aggressive. It's always, "I bet they're waiting for..." from our analcysts around here.

Oh yea...forgot about those. The final boss fight just seems so out of place, after hours of pure gaming bliss of awesomeness, I just dodge some stupid elemental attacks and place trip wires.

Was GTA 4 ever set to be a PS3 exclusive, or even a timed exclusive? All (i think) the GTAs were released for Xbox as well, although GTA 3 and Vice City were released later on. I'm not sure about San Andreas.

Still a good game, not as good as System Shock 2 but eh...

What was wrong with the final boss in GoW?

All GTAs from last generation (3, VC, SA) were timed exclusive to the PS2, so people assumed that 4 would be time exclusive on the PS3 as well.

It was one of the worst bosses in history. Fighting Ares is about as "fun" and tedious as playing tug-of-war with Gabe Newell. Probably a pretty similar experience, actually.

The last boss of Bioshock is indeed retarded.

But not as retarded as the last boss of System Shock 2.

Take THAT, PC doods.

Ye, i knew about GTA3 and VC (not so strange that GTA 3 was a timed exclusive for consoles, Xbox or GC wasnt out when GTA 3 was launched), but i wasnt 100% sure about San Andreas, thanks for the info :) But i think Asassins Creed and Devil May Cry were announced as PS3 exclusives in the begining, no? Thats why i commented on GTA 4, since it wasnt really a lost exclusive in the same way, as in it hadnt been announced exclusivly (or timed exclusivly) for the PS3 at first.

As the PS2 was the dominant console of the previous generation, before E3 2006 everyone just assumed that a lot of games would be exclusive to the PS3 in the same way that they assumed that the PS3 would become the dominant console of this generation. That led to the inevitable "the PS3 has lost all it's games, lololol, next Dreamcast, lolololol" crap that infested the internet for over a year.
