FYI for everyone this is xbhaskarx's truck and he drives it up and down the street outside the local YMCA going "WHO WANTS TO RIDE THE BANG BUS" except he calls it 'tang truck' because he's afraid of violating copyright laws.

Let me get this straight. You think that these people, some of the most desperate, possibly dangerous people in the world, and have the potential to beat people to a pulp with their bare hands; and your plan, is to *blackmail* these people?

I was thinking the same, this situation can end badly if he tries to scam the wrong person.

Edit: And all his info is posted on several forums... yes, good luck with that.

does being so public help protect this guy from harm?

I would think with so many suspects, his death would be a guaranteed unsolved mystery

blackmailing a thousand criminals in your local area?

Well, that's so fucked up...but since it's the US, somebody will have to do something to fix it, and it won't be the courts, most likely.

Straight-up extortion.
He'll probably try pulling this on a gang member, and get his offices firebombed. God help him if he has a family.

What are the US blackmail laws? I can see them working an angle where they're not directly requesting money for denying the release of information.

This has been a hot button topic in KC. My understanding is that the way he has things setup it's skirting the legal issues. For instance, he wont send any alerts to your neighborhood about you unless someone clicks a button on your profile prompting for it. That way someone else requested it. Obviously, that's a system setup for people to abuse.

If it is legal then the government needs to snap this shut. These people already receive punishment and it's not useful to anyone to effectively brand them for life. A lot of the first timers with misdemeanors will have a good shot at probation. Probation/community service is given out for a reason. The government doesn't want to create more career criminals. They hope this set you straight and you'll return into the population of functioning citizens by growing the economy, paying taxes, having and taking care of children so that another generation is prepared to do the same thing.

This information is already available to the public anyway. They're just trying to make money off of a dynamic that's always been there.

People have money in their wallets too, but you're not allowed to demand it with menaces. In no way does what they are doing deviate from the most commonly accepted definition of blackmail. They are just idiots who never bothered to find out if what they are doing is illegal.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
In gas stations in my town they sell a paper with local mug shots. It's called Busted or something.

It's the money that would make it illegal, assuming this is even real. Everything on the internet is fake.
