it really fucked me over in my black-majority elementary/middle school, people thought i was gay/racist; and it led to the black side of my family pretty much disowning me because i always brought latinas ("white") to family gatherings during my high school years

yeah, the exotic thing could definitely have some truth to it; when i went to a majority hispanic high school for the first time i was going crazy over relatively average girls (and honestly still do)lightless_shado said:Its possible that for you, black people represent something very familiar while non-blacks are something exotic and different. Much like how we have some white girls who freak whenever they see a black guy.
I would say I was pretty similar to you when I was younger until I moved to a very white city. For me I'm no longer more attracted to non-blacks than I am to blacks. You say you want to understand, but some of your posts in this thread are just coming off as mocking/hurtful.

It's late over here and I really don't want to get into it, but I will say that I notice many kids who grow up in families of mixed cultures sometimes completely reject one culture in favor of another; due to some negative experience or good ol' fashion insecurity.

you're right, there is a genuine use for it. I'm not suggesting for a moment that the conclusions of this study are not culturally based.
What I find interesting, instead, is that women exhibit considerably more racist/bigoted tendencies on dating sites than men do. Of course people will rationalize it with "Oh of course, men will sleep with anything they can get their hands on," but that strikes me as post-facto analysis. I could just as easily have seen it go the other way, and then people would claim, "well of course men are more racist, macho tendencies are typically at the core of cultural racism."

In addition, white women prefer to date within the same race more than any other group.

A lot of the white girls there don't see color; they just see someone that they want to hookup with. I 100% get where you're coming from with the intimidation factor. I see it like this: if a lot of white girls are down with the black (barring any stupid reasons like trying to piss off their parents, etc), then a lot of black girls are down with the whites.

Glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. Foxy Fox 39 said:Yup. And it kinda makes me think if someone says, "I'm not attracted to black women" that there is just a tint of racism there. Even if its involuntary.
I just find it hard to believe that someone can say something so broad. Because that generally means that their color of skin simply is distasteful to you. If we take food for example, you can say, "I don't like vegetables". You even can understand why some people do. But saying that you cannot stomach vegetables means (whether involuntary or not) that food is distasteful to you. Same goes with black women and skin color.
Black people in general have the most diverse (scientifically proven) traits and looks than any other group. So really the only difference between the millions of black women and other women is simply the skin color. Nothing else. You can't say its a nose, or eyes, or hair, because as I said, black people are naturally more diverse which means there is always going to be someone with different eyes, or noses etc.
I mean, there isn't any black women, out of all the people you know, celebrities, musicians etc, that do something for you? I can't really call them a racists...but a part of me thinks it's pretty dang close.
With that said, every race does something for me. I can say that there is not one race, that I cannot find a ton of attractive women to pick from.
Kusagari said:That white women chart looks like some BS.
Yup. It's the "parents" generation. I doubt if the kids feel the same way about dating black people like their parents did. I really don't want to go into the specifics of why though, because it's a very ugly place.Devolution said:I feel like I can safely talk about this given I'm in a town that's a majority asian. lightless_shado said:Completely unsurprising. White is considered right, which goes right back to the whole idea of the white beauty standard. Even if I'm a dark skinned black guy who is a lawyer and makes tons of money, has a good upbringing, and keeps himself in good shape, the parents of the asian girl I'm dating won't be accepting.
When it comes to interracial relationships, people like to think they're liberal about it...until they find that one of their children has brought home a person of a different race.
OT: I find the hatred between East Asians to be very entertaining. Just saying!Devolution said:Or a different country. I know some of my friend's parents would have issues because of China-Korea-Japan relations. And a good portion of them seem to look down on Filipinos.

Hmm... For me personally, I've learned to appreciating black (but mostly continental African) women. It would have never happened by consuming the medias here in NA.Ashes1396 said:A friend of mine told me once that he couldn't masturbate to black women porn. And he wanted to. He liked every race. But the black woman for some reason didn't do it for him. I told him not worry about it; but he got really down.
And the thing is, when we used to go clubbing he would chase after a pretty black girl just like any other race. In fact preferred to dance with a black girl.
When I asked him about it. He said, yeah of course, but he couldn't explain it. He tried a messy solution like he sees one race more slutty than the other; then rejected that himself; and said something about being condition perhaps to white porn all the time, and the Asian college girl sex symbol/hentai, and that there was no black equivalent. I can't quite remember.
My self. I've never really thought about it. But if it is that way for some people, I'm not sure what one can do about it, or whether they should. I don't like japanese 'orgasm/crying' myself; even though I find oriental women very attractive, which is easily solved through Asian Americans, Brits etc.
I will say that porn is separate to reality. Hormones and chemicals kick in when any girl is flirting with you in real life, or looks great on the dance floor. Eye contact, smiles, conversation. This are all things that can't happen with porn. So porn is hardly an indicator of actual racial preference.
