One of two things:
-He's human, or:
-He's froma series of replicants that doesn't have a four-year lifespan, aka post-Nexus 6.
Or he's not the same Deckard from the original.
They aren't going to address it directly anyway.

The film is the main cover story for EW, complete with their usual shit cover work. New photos here:

Ana de Armas is a beautiful woman.

Ohh my.
U better put a sex scene in there Denis.
Yes, because the scene between Deckard and Rachael wasn't bad enough.
My producers are finding it fun to remind me that it will be one of the most expensive R-rated independent feature films ever made, Villeneuve disclosed.
I can count on my fingers the amount of times we put a green screen on set. Most of the movie was done on camera, me and [cinematographer] Roger Deakins worked very hard to do it that way.
My actors were not walking on green screens all day long. CGI is a strong tool for backgrounds and extensions but what is around the actors needs to be as real as possible. When I watch a movie thats mostly CGI, Im disengaged,
Even tho Harrison Ford in a t shirt is damn low key for sci fi promo pics I'm glad the filmmakers have the tact to not put him in his trench coat that he had in blade runner like other nostalgia movies would be tempted to do. Would be silly.
Have a feeling Batista is gonna be a henchman of Letos in here
Another little blurb from EW that talks about Ford's first day on set which was when the film was already a month in production.

The little video at the top also mentions this is a story that Ridley Scott came up with and has been mulling over for the last 30 years.

The director already said they aren't going to answer whether he's a replicant or not in this film. What? Of course they will. Unless someone has already said otherwise, I don't see how they have Ford in this without addressing the elephant in the room. The film's bound to be about replicants, after all... and Gosling's character is specifically searching for Deckard.
It's going to come up.
How is Blade Runner 2049 an "independent" film?

Yeah you're right. Going to be interesting to see what they do.There's a big difference between leaving the matter unresolved, and failing to address it at all. I guarantee you they will add further fuel to the fire. You can't include Deckard in a story about replicants, and leave that pot unstirred. Even thematically, the fact that Deckard has been AWOL since the first film's ambiguous ending sets up certain expectations.

Uh....gosling appears to have the same expression across all thosr images lol.

There's a big difference between maintaining a certain level of mystery and ambiguity, and failing to address it at all. There's no way 2049 doesn't go out of its way to fan the flames. You can't just include Deckard in a story about replicants, and leave that pot unstirred. Even thematically, the fact that Deckard has been AWOL since the first film's ambiguous ending sets up certain expectations.
Drive 2049
Wait, so it's being filmed mostly with real scenarios and it'll be R rated? Blessed Villeneuve.

Apologies for being off-topic for a moment, but I can't seem to find a US copy of Final Cut on Blu-ray on Amazon. I only see the UK import. Did they go out of print already?
Although BR2049 is being distributed by WB (domestically) and Sony (internationally), it's financed by an independent production company, Alcon.
There will be extensive CG, like all Sci-Fi in today's world, it'll just be tasteful. It sounds like what Scott did with Prometheus, mostly real sets and limited blue screen but CG set extensions to bring scale.

Blade Runner didn't need the eye-popping violence to be good tho it's nice to know anything goes in this movie.
Is that confirmed? I thought he just said he wanted to do that.Holy hell, Villeneuve next project is Dune. Dude is cleaning up Ridley Scott's plate from the past. Next: Alien. Lol

I would be so down. I just read the first book again a few months ago.

It was just rumblings the past few months but Variety just broke a story on it. Sounds about as close to confirmed as can be without actually being official.
