One of two things:
-He's human, or:
-He's froma series of replicants that doesn't have a four-year lifespan, aka post-Nexus 6.

Or he's not the same Deckard from the original.

They aren't going to address it directly anyway.

Ana de Armas is a beautiful woman.

Ohh my.

U better put a sex scene in there Denis.

Even tho Harrison Ford in a t shirt is damn low key for sci fi promo pics I'm glad the filmmakers have the tact to not put him in his trench coat that he had in blade runner like other nostalgia movies would be tempted to do. Would be silly.

Have a feeling Batista is gonna be a henchman of Letos in here

Yes, because the scene between Deckard and Rachael wasn't bad enough.

I've seen BR once and that was over a year ago, can't remember tbh.

Even so: Nothing wrong with wanting to see these two fuck.

I'm an extremely massive fan of the original but can't say I feel much more about it than 'hope it doesn't suck TOO bad'. I hope it pleasantly surprises me Fury Road style but I don't know...I thought Prometheus was terrible for example.

Harrison Ford being in this as mega fan service doesn't really make me feel too thrilled about it either to be honest.

“My producers are finding it fun to remind me that it will be one of the most expensive R-rated independent feature films ever made,” Villeneuve disclosed.

“I can count on my fingers the amount of times we put a green screen on set. Most of the movie was done on camera, me and [cinematographer] Roger Deakins worked very hard to do it that way.

“My actors were not walking on green screens all day long. CGI is a strong tool for backgrounds and extensions but what is around the actors needs to be as real as possible. When I watch a movie that’s mostly CGI, I’m disengaged,”

Ford looks like like he's wearing the same clothes he showed up on set with. Nah man, I'd prefer the trench coat. :P

It's sad to say this but the fact that it's an idea from ridley scott is what could be the flaw of the movie. Looking at the shit he's doing with the alien franchise has me worried

But then everything else about this is la flame. And Villeneuve is coming into this strong too

Another little blurb from EW that talks about Ford's first day on set which was when the film was already a month in production.

The little video at the top also mentions this is a story that Ridley Scott came up with and has been mulling over for the last 30 years.

Might just be the soundbyte Ridley likes to talk about regarding the original opening to Blade Runner which was scrapped (Deckard killing a farmer replicant out on a farm) and adapting that in some way in the sequel.

On topic, sorta lol, but any of y'all by chance own a replica of Deckard's blaster? Always loved the piece from the film and often times wished I had a replica. Then I saw HCG shared their ultra detailed $900 piece when the teaser debuted but I thought the best replica was supposed to be from a Japanese company?

What? Of course they will. Unless someone has already said otherwise, I don't see how they have Ford in this without addressing the elephant in the room. The film's bound to be about replicants, after all... and Gosling's character is specifically searching for Deckard.

It's going to come up.

The director already said they aren't going to answer whether he's a replicant or not in this film.

How is Blade Runner 2049 an "independent" film?

The original was an independent movie as well.

Although BR2049 is being distributed by WB (domestically) and Sony (internationally), it's financed by an independent production company, Alcon.

There's a big difference between maintaining a certain level of mystery and ambiguity, and failing to address it at all. There's no way 2049 doesn't go out of its way to fan the flames. You can't just include Deckard in a story about replicants, and leave that pot unstirred. Even thematically, the fact that Deckard has been AWOL since the first film's ambiguous ending sets up certain expectations.

There's a big difference between leaving the matter unresolved, and failing to address it at all. I guarantee you they will add further fuel to the fire. You can't include Deckard in a story about replicants, and leave that pot unstirred. Even thematically, the fact that Deckard has been AWOL since the first film's ambiguous ending sets up certain expectations.
Yeah you're right. Going to be interesting to see what they do.

Villeneuve already said that they will not give an answer to that question in the movie. He might be lying to preserve the surprise but most likely they will preserve the ambiguity whilst leaning towards him being a replicant, Ridley is producing the movie after all.

The post you replied to said they weren't going to address it directly, not that they weren't going to address it at all.

Maybe a better way to phrase it would be that they will acknowledge the mystery without solving it.

Wait, so it's being filmed mostly with real scenarios and it'll be R rated? Blessed Villeneuve.

There will be extensive CG, like all Sci-Fi in today's world, it'll just be tasteful. It sounds like what Scott did with Prometheus, mostly real sets and limited blue screen but CG set extensions to bring scale.

I don't remember liking Blade Runner much when I saw it for the first time a few years back. Is it really that good? Was thinking about watching it with my roommate who has never seen it.

Interesting teaser.

Apologies for being off-topic for a moment, but I can't seem to find a US copy of Final Cut on Blu-ray on Amazon. I only see the UK import. Did they go out of print already?

Just get the 30th Anniversary Collector's Edition. It comes with all 5 cuts and is only $17.

edit: temporarily out of stock :X

Cool, I guess that explains why the film doesn't seem compromised to fit the studio mold (limited CG, a director that wasn't exactly a box office sensation at the time of hiring, non-actiony teaser, etc)

Oh, I know. I mean it is exactly like what he did with Prometheus and that was awesome (not the movie, but how it looks).

Holy hell, Villeneuve next project is Dune. Dude is cleaning up Ridley Scott's plate from the past. Next: Alien. Lol

Is that confirmed? I thought he just said he wanted to do that.

I would be so down. I just read the first book again a few months ago.
