Come on, his Dune series, as it stands right now, is BARELY capable of being in the same room as LOTR in discussion of noteworthy film series, much less sitting at the table. While the first 2 films look pretty good, they are so emotionally hollow. Some of this is just the nature of the source material, but Lynch's Dune, for all it's issues, at least delivered a rousing emotional experience (as well as wild visuals). Hopefully this last film can salvage the mess of part 2 and wrap it up but somehow I doubt it.

Just watched the Spiderman Brand New Day trailer. God it looks like garbage. AI slop is dominating the Gaming board right now, but can we bring back the marvel slop complaints? Why do their movies look like tv shows? Do they spend more than five minutes lighting a scene? At least the new Fantastic Four movie looked like a movie. This is so amateurish after seeing what Denis did with Dune 3.
I bet this movie cost like $300 million and they couldnt get a decent cinematographer. The Amazing Spiderman 2 still looks amazing. WTF happened to Sony?

It looks like there might be visions of the future or aspects of Children integrated in this movie. Villeneuve said he'd stop, but with how much money they are making I wouldn't be surprised someone else takes over for maybe 1 more movie.

I like when directors respect that movies are a different medium from books and don't try to shoehorn in stuff that don't work in them. The strength of movies is the audiovisual aspect, just as interactivity is gaming's. I also like when directors sometimes rewrite stuff to make the story their own, for example Annihilation and The Ritual.
I hope he makes Rendezvous with Rama after this.
If we are just spitballing sci-fi for the epic screen treatment, I'd go with
the well is sooooooooooooooo damned deep for stuff that fits his directing style much better than Dune, IMHO.

Dune Messiah is the epilogue to Dune so I guess they are just adapting that which I'm fine with
I hope if they do adapt the rest of the books that they get Gullimore Del Toro to direct all three films. I'm not a fan of his recent output but I think him directing the next three Dune films especially if they get to God Emporer of Dune would be awesome. That's my favorite in the series so far.
The practical effects combined with CGI to bring Leto Atreides II as the God Emporer would be insane to see. Especially if they got Del Toro on board. He's one of the few I think, who would be able to pull it off

Robert Pattinson is looking good as the villain who is a face dancer who is basically a shape shifter. I'm a big fan of the actor and can't wait to see him playing a villain

I'm booking this in IMAX 100% as always. Denis is king of sci-fi in cinema right now.
His next movie is alledgedly Rendez-Vous with Rama? That too I can't wait to see his vision of it.

If I recall correctly, only from the fourth Dune book do the visuals change, but this film trilogy is only really covering the first book and it seems most of the second one. It's just Paul's arc.
Only really one of Frank Herbert's books takes place mostly off of Arakis.
The books quickly nosedive in terms of writing quality. The good world building is still there, but the dialogue is painful.
Brian Herbert's (his son) books are almost mostly off Arakis. He can write better, though still not great dialogue. His worldbuilding leaves a lot to be desired though.
