Bloodborne is February's IGN First

like people mentioned, Dream Refuge looks beautiful.

Not too crazy about how short the tutorial area is. Maybe there's an extended path somewhere that walks you through the new systems a bit?

Just seems weird, especially when you consider that DeS and both DkS games had tutorial areas to let players stretch their legs a bit before they got to the "proper" game.

Just a hunch, but I don't think the IGN video is the true start of the game.
I think you'll play up to the point where you are captured by the guy at the start of the IGN video. Or some other but similar kind of scenario.

There's like at least 3 NPCs in this first area- Another Hunter, and two people behind locked doors, and Gamon in the Refuge.

Alot more horror theme? Those messengers are creepy looking and sounding.

May as well be a decade

good god

the wait has been rough as it is. Now we are going to be inundated with new photos and gifs and info and crap all month long and its going to get f'in brutal.

and the whole time im like DONT SPOIL IT FOR YOURSELF

but then im like I CANT HELP MYSELF

I HAVE NO WILLPOWER

I haven't seen anything yet but they tweeted that the character creation is cut from the video, so they can show it later this week.

That could be. The way the player received
his starting equipment especially felt strange, mainly because there was only one enemy before they hit the alpha area

Well, I'm not a huge fan of hub areas, but it kind of looks like The main game world is dark souls-esque and then when you die you go back to the hub. So I guess it's not really "hub" but more of a base with merchants and such.

Just got goosebumps all over that footage, dis game gonna be so good. I also got some Demon's vibe from that Hunter's dream place.

Looks a bit like the game fuses the Nexus with Dark Souls connected world. Dream Refuge looks like it acts like the nexus but with only one archstone style thing, and the rest of the game is hopefully one huge level. Whilst I'm not a fan of Nexus style hubs, this is definitely preferable to how the Nexus was before.

Maybe it's just me, but I did not find it all that spoilery. Other than the "hub" There was nothing area/enemy wise we had not seen already. I (personally) do not consider a short glimpse of the hub a spoiler.

Other than that, we saw a few new interfaces, and that tiny bit of the intro.

Good video all in all. TY for that higher def link BTW.

I need this in my veeiinnnnss ><

The hub looks amazing and the framerate seemed better as well. I don't know about the new lighting for the skybox but if there's some kind of cycle (trying not to read too much about it, so I'm not certain there is) that's not a big deal.

Just two-ish months ;_;

I couldn't help myself. I watched it. I'm glad I did, though. I don't feel like anything was spoiled and we got to see some of the stat screens. I want it NOW. Fifty days to go. *sigh*

So its a hub that works like Nexus/Majula? i wonder how inter-conected the world really is. If it is inter-conected at all.

I hope it is a hub world type deal ala Demons. It really helps with getting stuck in a specific area and getting overly frustrated from monotony and really creates a game where a replay can be COMPLETELY different the next time around. Taking a completely different route through the game and creating unique challenges for yourself due to the various different areas being better for later game, but doing it early gives you access to even better equipment.

Shit like that.

We'll see. Either way is alright, but I MUCH preferred the hub system of Demons to the interconnected stuff of Dark.

So how often are we going to get new info from IGN? Never followed a game on their IGN First thing... is it a daily thing?

Sometimes (like when we did MCC in October), but usually we have content drops about 3x per week.

Tomorrow will be a big, in-depth, written feature preview about the first couple hours of the game, written by Marty. Hope you enjoy the month!

Thanks for the response, sounds awesome!

I just can't wait for the character creation stuff. I hope it's still like DarkSouls, so there's body shape and massive facial customisation.

I almost couldn't be more hyped than I am right now for this. It looks great and my biggest concern would be the lack of character customization, which seems like it won't be an issue (can't wait for the next video).

I'm super disappointed they went back to the hub world dynamic, which DS2 already went back to the well on. I'm sure creating a world like DkS1 was super difficult, but I hoped Miyazaki would be up for the challenge again. The gameplay already looks like exactly what I want, so I'm pumped for March 24th.

It also reduces the endless backtracking when you want to get something forged or buy stuff.
