Bloodborne on pc now boots via emulator

Might as well mention it when the thread is bumped.
ShadPS4 had a recent *MASSIVE* performance boost, doubling the framerate on this guy's humble i5-13500 & 3600 while he plays at 1440p. There are similar gains at 4k leaving a lot of overhead and room for Lossless Scaling.

Goddamn

Are glitches mostly gone? Playable from beginning to end? I haven't followed in a while.

Awesome! I might have to re-replay this on emulator. I want to say I played it at 1080p 60fps, but 1440p or higher would be even better.

I'm waiting till the emulator reaches a more mature state before I commit to actually playing something seriously on it, but people have completed the game on various builds afaik.

Seems like you can just drag and drop the file into ShadPS4 and begin to play immediately. You may need to Mod Vertex Explosion, still. Not a big deal, just can't design your face.

Shader compilation is still an issue until all assets are cached. Basically meaning a full play through with hitching every few seconds.

That undoes the benefit of an otherwise smooth experience of 60+FPS.

This is on an AM4 build. I'm sure it is lessened on top tier hardware, but it is an issue still for a lot of people.

RPCS3 has compilation too, but the method has matured in recent years and is less noticeable in lighter games.

Hoping for the same with ShadPS4 in the near future. Right now, it's a dealbreaker. I can't enjoy it.

What does dumped mean? I'm not familiar with the verbage

It means finding any copy of the game as a file on PC. For that to exist, it had to first come from a real copy of the game, from which all the data was dumped. He's just saying finding the game online is harder than configuring it, not that you need a special version of it or anything.

I'm guessing precache isn't an option then

I still don't understand why Sony refuse to remaster this game.

If this game was published by Namco we have gotten remastered version by now like we got with Dark Souls.

Went from a clean install and dragged and dropped my BB game into ShadPS4. Was in game in less than a min. Wonderful progress and I can tell by the temps alone that efficiency gains are there, front and center. All Sony has to do is drop this for both PS5 and PC and drop the mic, but, no...\

StealthEdit: Give us The Order 1886, Drive Club and Killzone Shadow Fall.

I think:
They want it for the PS6 release.

A.I. thinks:
Potential issues with FromSoftware's availability or willingness to assist. Updating it for new hardware would require improvements like higher framerate, better graphics, or online adjustments, could make a port difficult without their involvement. Bloodborne's IP belongs to Sony, so they control any releases, remasters, or ports. FromSoftware developed the game and knows its technical and design details best.

Not an excuse when there are single persons doing mods that take care of these things, already. Playing ultrawide 1440p at 60FPS locked, for example. This game has never, ever looked better.

For a simple remaster (which all I need) they don't need FROM, they could even just do PS5 update.

But instead Sony only interested doing re-releases for Last of Us and Horizon for 100th time.

So if someone wanted to try Bloodborne on pc and didn't have the files where could they theoretically get them ...?

Google hasnt been especially helpful so far.

At this point I think this is the main reason.

They have remastered and remade the most useless shit (TLOUPI and Horizon Zero Dawn), they own the IP and they remade Demon's Souls more or less successfully.

Even if it was what BluePoint is working on, it would absolutely not take 5+ years to ship it. I imagine it's going to be the remake they launch PS6 six with, though it's also going to be a massive fuck you to all the people who'd love to buy it on PS5 since there won't be any PS6 game PS5 won't be able to run. Unles they go heavy on RT

You could buy the game and dump it yourself if you have the hardware to do so, like a jailbroken PS4.

Oh wow, that's beautiful and a better than 1:1 match with the original.

LoDs are much better on ShadPS4 and it runs at an actual native resolution too, no fugly checkerboarding which makes edges and especially grass fray at the edges. It's a goddamn remaster even without the framerate improvements.
Reminds me of seeing Demon's Souls running on RPCS3 where you suddenly could see all the high resolution textures on armor.

Yes, it makes no sense, there must be a license/rights issue stopping it.

Honestly incredible work.

A game that's now estimated to have sold over 9m copies and exclusively only on PS4/PS5 deserves better treatment that what it's received by Sony.

Sony could have printed money with a low effort remaster of this game on PC a number of years ago. They would have easily sold 4-5m copies of this within it's first year @ $40. Massive fumble.

Imagine if they had released that remaster during the Elden Ring hype cycle. :goog_relieved:

time to give this game a try

Have fun dude. For me it's up there with Dark Souls 1 and Sekiro as one of From's finest works.
i dont like Sekiro and never finished Dark Souls 1 XD

to be honest i played Bloodborne till Father Gascoine ( early game ) but i just couldn't handle the performance and droped the game.

First hour or so is kinda rough, or at least it was for me. You have very low healing consumables (they are item drops, they don't regenerate like estus in DS) and it's hard as fuck. Later on it becomes more manageable while also becoming even more interesting setting-wise.

Hope you like it!

I got it working!

Was a bit of a fuck around (plus a lot of me being a mong probably) but got it running in the end.

Going to try running it on v 12 later as I had to use v 0.6 to set it up then went through 10 & 11 to get it running finally.

So good to be playing it again though, especially at a higher frame rate.

I already played through this several months ago at 2560x1080, but now I can get a locked 3440x1440 @ 60 FPS on a 3080 10 GB. Glorious.

This is one of the reasons why I see why Sony is putting games on PC. But they need to speed shit up with the collections. Seems like the Uncharted and God of Wat collection aren't that far off either with this emulator.

Uncharted and God of War have natives apps on PC but yeah the more games the emulator can run, the better.

Only for the more recent games. I mean you can play Uncharted 1-3 and God of war through emulation of RPCS3 but they run at 30!fps and slightly higher if you have a good cpu. The PS4 of both games run at 60 fps which would be better to run on with this emulator.

Ah sorry, I was thinking PS4 era games.

God of War 3 mostly runs at around 60fps on RPCS3 with a 13900K. It can dip to the 40s in some heavy scenes, but it's generally much higher than just 30fps.

I mean it's decent if you got a good CPU but it's the ps4 version is a guaranteed stable 60 with no dips. They will probably get this running at higher fps to if you have a good gpu since shadps4 is a more gpu based emulator compared to rpcs3.
