BLUEBOX realtime experience patch pulled at last minute, still no sign of it. Devs working to resolve technical issues

Can't even put out a small app with a teaser and we're supposed to believe their game is 4K60 with rdr2 level of detail releasing in 2021?
I mean, yes, and LOL, but to be a little fair to whatever the hell BlueBox is, releasing an "App" on a PlayStation console is probably a sizeable pain in the ass, maybe even tougher than launching a game.

Sony doesn't really have a direct method of arranging a "product" like this, some free teaser app that is not self-contained or necessarily a slice of existent product in the QA pipeline; also, it has no route to commerce nor any bonafides for its creative studio. So they're doing something nobody's bothered to do (aside from Kojima, as part of an E3 push, and then Sony years ago with its Killzone 2 Bullet demo,) and they're not established and have no place on Sony's priority list (aside from that PS Blog posted their blurb and teaser trailer a while ago, but that doesn't mean anything to the PSN distro department.) It would have to pass cert despite not being a real game. (BTW, I think this is one of the hidden reasons why demos died, because not only did some leave a bad impression, the work to create a vertical slice and go through certification and all that mess might be just too big an obstacle now, plus some demos have been used in cracking hardware, so even more reason for the manufacturer not to pave an easy road for demos.) It also might bump against concerns of ESRB and PEGI. And even if it passes all legal and technical cert, it would be hard to justify prioritizing a free app (with a patch, for some reason?) over a game release by a studio that's handing over 30% revenue to corporate.

...All of this was probably very hard to arrange with Sony, and there's a reason why nobody else tried it again after PT.

...It's even harder if your studio is imbalanced in incompetence over ambition, and, well, we will see what happens with Abandoned.

Went to bed, woke up, and now i'm confused but I just can't stop laughing.

This is some AAA level trolling right here.

Sony published Abandoned on their blog, right? Also Shu kind of did a cryptic post. And this is the first time a game has this kind of debut (through an app).

I'm not saying "believe" because I'm skeptic myself but Sony hasn't put any effort in distance themselves from this. I can see why people could think this is a Sony backed project.
And exactly what would Sony say? There's nothing here to even link Sony and this utterly inept offering. I don't see use in distancing yourself from a developer (no matter how poor) who is willing to release their product on your storefront (unless of course it is something egregious like racist or hateful content)

It's all just too many folks getting too excited over nothing. Drawing links where there aren't any.

Would I be excited and happy to be proven wrong? Sure, but there's nothing about this garbage which instills any confidence that a professional company would be behind this. It's all just too incompetent.

Have they ever really said it would be some 4K60 RDR2 level thing?

All I remember was some shitty teaser with what looked like some basic landscapes that could be made with stock assets + amateurish sounding narration + a small gameplay tease that looked like it was running at 10fps. All from a dev that has already put a game out on steam that looks like some amateur project made with stock assets.

And then people going on some crazy conspiracy that, admittedly, the dev was often happy to encourage.

And it's all based on the fact Kojima has done something similar before. With the tiny exception that the Phantom Pain actually looked like a proper AAA game from the start:

Instead of something that I , with zero game dev experience, could probably put together.

Yes, native 4K at that.

well they have my attention, theres hundreds of indies I will never notice. Even some by Sony Music. so they accomplished what they sent out to do.

No argument about incompetence.

Given that no every game is featured in the Playstation blog, is not crazy to think that Sony has given some kind of curation. If that's not the case, what do you think is the criteria for what games get to be featured in the official site and which don't?

Also, if a Dev comes up and says they want to debut their game through an app (first time as far as I know) I want to think that someone over Sony would at least ask "what is this about?".

Let's suppose they somehow slipped through the cracks, I'd think Sony would be aware now of what is happening and one of the people involved with indies is Shu. If they want to keep their distance, wouldn't be more apt to simply not tweet about it?

But let's say that Sony somehow is oblivious to all this. This scenario is at least less likely than Sony knowing something about this and letting the hype train run rampantly.

But that said, I'm not saying that we should believe this game is the second coming. I'm saying there are reasons for people to expect more than a random release with unchecked and disingenous marketing.

#teamreal I'll eat a boot on live TV if it isn't the second coming.

You, and many others, VASTLY overestimate the fucks that some intern at the indie division of the PS Store gives about what trash gets published and what doesn't.
True but this is getting a lot more traction than 99% of indie trash that goes on the PS store.

There's definitely more to this than what's been announced.

Obviously, it appears now as a grade A troll-job, but for "Hasan" to be as confident as he is and Shu to completely acknowledge it, I'm expecting "something" interesting to be revealed soon.

If the rumors are validated, it wouldn't surprise me if Sony delays this game's true unveiling until their next SOP.

Which is what the plan was all along of course.

My sympathy for everyone who spend all night ( depends on your timezone) waiting for this hot steaming pile of turd to launch

Easily the worst livestream ever

You're overthinking it. Hasan can call it an app but really it's just a free "game" (with limited interactivity), it doesnt need to have special treatment from PSN or ESRB lol. The reason we don't see others is because most publishers would see this as a spectacular waste of effort compared to putting a video on YouTube. But as should be obvious to all by now, Hasan loves the attention.

Sony "promote" 100's of games no one has ever heard from on their blog. It's a real game. A real game made by a complete hack.
naw naw naw there was just an article and internet outrage only a few weeks ago about sony not supporting indies so it must be true

Sigh, got drunk, slept, woke up.

Still a shit show, still #TeamReal.

It's next level teasing and trolling at this point, if it's not on purpose then bluebox will get cancelled before they even manage to release a game.

On another note the walking thing certainly reminds me of something that I can't recall... I really can't explain with words and it's probably because I am biased as Konami has abandoned fox engine, but It "feels" like fox engine.

It's amazing how many times appears the name Hasan in this thread. I mean, even if the game is a fake, a failure or whatever, this person has managed to be visible in a medium where a lot of creators are not known by their names.

We don't know how the game will end, probably an inmese shit, but Hasan has entered in the pantheon of names as Kojima, Jade Raymond, Peter Molineux, Cory Barlog, Miyamoto, etc...

I understand that.
It wouldn't be special treatment. It would be standard treatment.

...For a short-term app.
...Which also immediately needs some downloadable content launched with it.
...Which seems to have some degree of core-systems interactivity (with its custom video protocol and patch versus replacement deployment) and thus can't just pass through the simpler app protocol. (And BTW, getting an app certified on PSN is notoriously laborious...)
...Which all needs to hit a specific launch date and time.

None of this is made easy by PlayStation Network QA. Standard treatment on a locked timeline with an unusual product and no revenue stream is a special case, even by standard treatment terms.

I agree, it's a spectacular waste of effort. (Also, I had a bit of a wrong impression over what "Realtime Experience Patch" meant, because it's a made-up nonsense term issued by a company that has made nothing clear nor direct nor accurate in this whole promotional campaign... but I did have it in my head that it had actual realtime elements running on PS5 of like the guy walking and such, not that it was just a streaming video keyfob, and apparently it is not?) But what BlueBox is doing is out of the norm, and trust me or find somebody who's done it who can tell you that out-of-the-norm is not made easy within closed console ecosystems.

If this is still Kojima trolling us again, then he pushed this too damn far. I am really disgusted now and will skip anything related to Abandoned #TeamOut
