Bob is a boss. Even if he's fired now, must have made a fortune already and can probably open his own company..made up entirely of Chinese contractors.

Future is not looking bright for mediocre IT people in western world. Work can be fairly easily distributed around the world and living expenses are way lower in many places with a ton of workforce. Also anybody can learn to code if they can read English and have a internet connection via free online courses.

As a competent, but not amazing college IT graduate, i'm screwed.

Just like 90% of Neogaf, I work at an IT department and we rely on external programmers who live 200 km away. Its a pain the ass when things go wrong and i cannot imagine how it is having to rely on people who are not even native speakers of your own language and live 7 countries away.

But then again, IT is always seen as a cost so if it helps the bottom line im sure businesses will think outsourcing is a great idea.

Lasf I checked this happened on Obama's time, big guy.

I think I can finally say I have my very own hero in this world. Nickelback suddenly makes sense

Talk to a music producer about chord progressions.

Suddenly, you'll realize most modern songs are the same for many artists out there.

This is beyond retarded hahaha.

If you have the skills to manage developers in another country and produce results then you should just become your own software firm.

There is tons of people that do this with developers in tons of developing nations, he would be making way more money and nothing illegal.

Managing people from a different culture, in a different time zone is freaking hard.

Great, now his employer realize they can outsource everything for a fraction of the price! They should hire him as outsourcing consultant.

I admire work ethic and integrity not manipulation and dishonesty.

funny thing, a bit off topic, when my father died recently, I didn't take bereavement right away because I thought I could work through the grief and I would be fine.
I then decided crying in the middle of work wasn't such a good idea.

I've been at this place for six years and have never once, ever called out sick. so the one time I ask for some time off for me to get better I have people talking behind my back about being selfish. so as you can see there is no loyalty at work both from fellow workers and management.

Again...you seem to not understand this.

a bid goes out...people quote it. They are awarded the job at the quoted price. There is no "middle man".

The local guy either chose to bid with the CM or lost his direct bid.

but for an emergency like Katrina, why wouldn't the government directly hire local people or a company and tell them "you get X amount to fix the ninth ward, hire all workers from the area"
