Bone Claw Wolverine.

Why? What made Capcom add this version of Logan in MvC2? I get the inclusion of 90s characters like Marrow and Cable because at that point in time the Uncanny series was incredible, but Bone Claw? A Logan with a reduced move set for the sake of slightly better reach?

So fucking dumb. Probably the only character in that game where I'll openly agree on it being a wasted slot.

They needed to fill a slot and ran out of characters to re-use and time to make new.

Be glad you only got Bone Claw Wolverine, while Mecha Zangief and Evil Sakura were kept only as transformations, while gold War Machine was rightfully canned.

Mecha Gief, GHM and Dark Sakura are all dope, though

The better question is why retcon in the very notion of bone claws to begin with. It was such a dumb idea even at the time, but I guess that in the years since Marvel has done a lot worse. They should have had Spider-Man make a deal with Mephisto at the end of his single player mode.

I find it funny how we went from 2 Wolverines in a Marvel game in the 90's to none at all now.

That being said, he was likely easy to make & didn't take up too much dev time. Makes sense given that most of the MvC2 roster were ports from other MvC games.

...I prefer that he has bone claws. Otherwise he isn't really Wolverine. Just some dude who can heal. Big whoop. The claws are his most defining feature and to have those be some add-on detracts imo.

As transformations, yeah, but it would be annoying if they hogged character spots.

MVC2 had very little actually new characters, you got Ruby, Son Son, Tron, Servbot, Hayato, Amingo, Cable and Marrow, that's it, 8 out of 56.

11 if you count Abyss' 3 forms.

God don't remind me of that goddamn storyline

I wish Spiderman was real so I could punch him in the face.

The healing is a "mutant" power.

He had no choice in that...

The claws and the personality are his.

They are his through choice and experience.

Presumably because it was easy to make him, and it helped expand the roster for minimal effort, plus not many would complain because Wolverine sold everything he touched at the time.

I'm hoping it will be retconnned before too long.

Keep holding your breath- it's embedded in too many things to cull without a reboot at this point.

I'm mad the original Capcom characters haven't been seen or used in forever....

Amingo and Ruby Heart appeared on the SNK vs Capcom Card games for the neo geo pocket at least.

It's a pretty good card game, stay away from the DS one tho.

Son son was the modernization of a character of the same name that actually had their own game.

I don't know if a better argument against the bone claws could ever be made than that one right there.

Yeah I'm aware of Son Son's origins.

I remember the bone claws made me cringe back when I read the comics. Those things looked like they would just snap right off so easily.

What percentage of MVC2 characters have sprites that come from other games?

As a kid I always thought MVC2 was cool for having like 50 characters or whatever it has. But now as an adult that has played more CPS stuff from that era, it all looks so cheap. Its weird mishmash of art is so strange and leaves the game with a very odd presentation. I'm no expert but compared to Marvel Vs Capcom 1 and 3 there doesn't seem to be any stages or music that i recognize that homage Marvel or Capcom properties.

quite a few.

You can tell in MvC2 which characters were made new for the game, they have some of the best animations and frame counts and also look rather clean and crisp, Jill, Ruby, some others.

Me and my friends used to joke about which one was more embarrasing, Morrigan or Iori from kof (same sprite since 1995 thru 2004), it's hard to say who got the last laugh, Iori did get bitching new sprites in kof 12 and 13, but Morrigan's MVC3 3d model seems infinitely better than Iori's Kof14 model.

I wish they'd stuck with that sprite for MvC3. Like, every other character would be 3D, except for good ol' reliable Morrigan.

So were so many other stories that were retconned. It's easy. It's comics! LOL

Wasn't MvC2 the game Wolverine was the worst in? I feel like I've heard Maxamillian mention that he can't even combo into supers or something?

He and Spider-Man are really bad in MvC2. I heard a while back that, during initial balance testing, one of the players was kicking all sorts of ass with Spidey, so they decided to tone down his comboability and give him pixie attributes.

So those characters, who were dominant in their older games, got nerfed, while they let things like AHVB, fast fly/unfly, and infinites slip through. And Storm. I don't know how they let that one through.

Huh! MvC3 have two Wolverines too!

Why didn't we get numerous Son Son clones instead. Why??
