Bosses that have made you quit on a game.

I run out of medkits and I didn't wanted to get a ton more just to keep fighting that bs boss. I was fucking drained.

I hate to admit it. I never beat the last boss in Dark Souls 1. I have beat every other boss in every game in the series but after spending 3 or 4 days on him the rage was just too much. I think it was some form of mental block.
I never beat him, either, though it wasn't due to my lack of trying. I tried to beat Dark Souls' final boss over the course of about a week before my save file got glitched with my character infinitely falling through the floor at the bonfire. I didn't have any backups, because I live dangerously.

One of the early bosses in Madworld. It wasn't that it was a hard boss, I was just so horrified when I found out that the game doesn't have any checkpoints between the main level and the bossfight. You spend twenty minutes fighting guys to build up your score high enough to trigger the bossfight, and if you lose you start the whole fucking level again.

Instantly quit the game and never went back. Ain't nobody got time for that shit.

Without spoiing much it took me almost a year to beat the final boss in Spelunky. Cheap and death meant you went back to the beginning. Beating it is probably my favorite current gen accomplishment.

Final boss of ninja Gaiden 2

At that point it was like "fuck this I'll watch the ending on YouTube"

You're talking about the 360 NG2 as opposed to the SNES gen Dark Sword of Chaos right? I honestly can't even remember the final boss. I raged quit the first one (OG Xbox version) a few times but eventually beat it when I was home with the flu for a week. First Alma had me stuck for a few months. The second game never posed that much of an issue. I played them at launch so they were several years apart so I can't chalk it up to expertise.

The last boss of Quantum Break was dumb, so I turned the system off and moved on. My time is more valuable than that.

Almost wrote this. Game wasn't that tough on Hard until the very end. Took a two week break because of frustration and beat the final boss on the second attempt. Tough, but the game pretty much trains you the entire time.

I didn't have enough ammo to defeat the final boss of The Fortress Of Dr. Radiaki. It was a bad game though, so I didn't mind giving up.

lol those 3 demon horsemen in ninja gaiden I guess? I forget. The game was fun as fuck but I can't beat the 2nd level boss? Done.

Played through Castlevania Lords of Shadow on hard, to give up at the final final boss. Seriously. Fuck this boss.

The dragon boss on the airship in FF:X was also really sudden difficulty spike. I managed to beat it, but later I gave up that game at some bridge which was an equally shit fight.

This could be embarrassing, but: the Demon Wall in Final Fantasy XII.

I tried a bunch of times and just could not kill that thing before it reached me.

I could have done it if I had kept trying. But soon after I reached that spot, I got my Xbox 360 and started diving into the games on that. When I went back and tried to play FFXII again, I had grown accustomed to having a right thumbstick camera and for the life of me I could not get re-accustomed to FFXII's older style shoulder button camera (and one that the game had no setting to un-invert, at that: I was constantly looking left when I wanted to look right).

It makes me sad, but I never went back. Fortunately the HD remaster should fix the camera issue for me.

Last boss of Spirit Tracks due to that mic blowing crap. No matter what I couldn't get it to work right. Never went back and eventually sold the game anyway.

Anyone reach a boss or a section in a game so annoying that you've given up on a title?

I'm borderline there with DQIX. I love this game. Love it's episodic little vignettes that you get with each town that you visit. They're charming, little stories. But..I reached a town with this fucker:

Sir Sternivus from SwineDimples.

This boss is so freaking cheap. Gets to have multiple turns back to back each round with various heavy hits, and attacks that hurt the entire party with one hit.

I was really enjoying this game, and have been super pumped to experience it and beat it with VII around the corner, but seriously this freaking boss. I hate grinding so it sucks that the game is forcing me to do so at this point in time.

Gonna give it a couple of more shots cause the rest of the game is so endearing but man, this guy is my new bane of existence in gaming.

Seeeeriously? That guy? Go slash some metal slimes. All you have to do is stand in the corner of the room it spawns in and wait

That plant boss thing in FFXIII, it wasn't super difficult but it was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

Also, Four Kings in Dark Souls NG+

The end boss in Uncharted 2. I just watched the ending on YouTube.

The tentacle thing in Dead Space. It was the last straw for me after the similar asteroid shootout.
I almost gave up on him.

It devolved into me just running away and running away and running away. I finally got him.

the first giant battle in Dream Team

I came back like a year or so later and did it first try though and eventually finished the game

I can only think of one:

The last boss in the first Prinny game made me have the game on indefinite suspend on my PSPGo. I eventually moved on to something else.

Spent like three hours alone on this absolute cunt with a friend. What a fucking piece of shit. Going through all those levels, and this dumb fucking cock sucker is unbeatable.

I hope your wife divorces you, your children hate you, and every shit you take is of the volcano variety.

The pirate boss fight from Eternal Sonata. If I remember right your party is split in two and your more weaker party members are stuck in this obnoxious boss fight. Haven't played it since the day I first got to this point.

The last boss of Quantum Break was dumb, so I turned the system off and moved on. My time is more valuable than that.

Really? My friends and I had a decent time with him. Nothing crazy. Remember you can time bubble his bombs so they don't explode as fast.

I still haven't bet The Unnamed King in Dark Souls 3, and at this point it's hard to imagine I will unless I roll a new character and play the whole thing again. Which is fine, I love the game, but I never did beat the last boss as a result.

Kind-of-a-boss-but-not-really the Flappy Goat trophy in Goat Simulator made me quit. Having never played Flappy Bird and spending a couple of hours trying to get through 10 gates, I gave up. I thought I could have got there with another few hours maybe, but I seriously thought there were better and more interesting things I could be doing, even though it meant giving up on a platinum trophy at the last hurdle.

Estelle
from Tales of Vesperia, well it wasn't me but my partner (I was 2nd player, Rita ftw). It's been over two years and we still haven't returned to play it. Granted part of the problem is the fight, the other half is having to sit through the damn cutscenes to get to the fight -_-

This game looks so stylish. I'm so tempted to pick it up, despite your experience.

Don't let that put you off. It wasa great game up until that boss right at the end. And it's more likely it's something I'm doing wrong.

Last boss in Shinobi.

12 year old me couldn't figure out the mechanics, so, after trying over and over and over, I had to give up.

Came here to post this. Ended up saying F it and just watched it on youtube.

The Shadow Queen from Paper Mario, my god.

Not only is she absurdly tough to beat, but every time you restart you have to sit through a ten-minute cutscene.

The final boss of Metroid Prime 1. There's a big, tough platforming section with enemies knocking you off the platforms to get from the last checkpoint to the boss, and I eventually gave up.

Now that I have the Prime Trilogy on Wii U I might try again, and this time I'd do more research to make sure I have all the energy packs and stuff, but I don't know when I'll have the time.

FF9's final boss used Grand Cross when i only had 3 characters alive atm, and stoned 2 of my teammates and berserked Vivi and for some reason wouldn't kill Vivi after like 20 minutes (I think I had regen or something idr). Either way, I just turned off the game and never went back to it and I think my save file is gone. Never really cared to watch the ending or anything because I thought the game was kinda bad anyway.

Ludwig from Bloodbornes DLC. Granted my character is on newgame+++. I'll eventually go back and clear the content with a new character, but I couldn't be bothered with my current guy and I like a good challenge.

That boss is a bitch of the highest order. I just wanna experience the game and move along with the story and fight battles as they happen while I traverse from point A to point B. All while keeping things moving. I hate setting time aside in RPGs, and putting things to a halt, just to dedicate time to grinding. If a boss calls for this, it's a bit of a deal-breaker for me. :/

I generally don't grind either, though sometimes I do get overlevel for other reasons. Maybe that was the case when I played DQ9 because I can't remember any boss blocking my progress.

Not many but this guy comes to mind. I didn't rage quit but just stopped trying and never went back. So he stopped my progress in a sense.

I think that's the only boss I had any issues with in the game. It also became the easiest boss in the game when I eventually said fuck it and went in with all of my aeons' Overdrive gauges filled up. (He literally never got an attack in.)
