Boy bludgeoned sleeping mom over PlayStation

When her 16-year-old son got into trouble last November, Rashida Anderson responded with punishment - she took away Kendall's PlayStation. That proved fatal. Following a 90-minute argument the day after Thanksgiving, police allege, Kendall went into his sleeping mother's bedroom, hit her 20 times with a claw hammer and ultimately killed her. The story of Rashida Anderson's bloody end - as told by her son in his confession to Philadelphia police homicide Det. Thorsten Lucke - was read to a Philadelphia Municipal Court judge, who ordered the lanky youth to stand trial for murder, possession of an instrument of crime and abuse of corpse.

I read about this a few days ago and hoped no one would post it as it's kind of depressing. The kid was obviously disturbed if he thought this was a way to react.

When the hammer attack did not kill her, Anderson told police, he dragged her downstairs and tried to "cremate her" in the kitchen oven. When that failed, he continued, he beat her in the head with a chair leg before dragging her body outside and hiding under debris in an alley behind the house.
I feel really sad for the poor mother. What a horrible way to die.

I also can't wait to see how Fox News spins this into another "video games lead to criminal behavior" story. Stable people don't kill their mother with a claw hammer, that fact seems to get lost in the media coverage sometimes.

Ugh, you didn't even quote the worst part of it:

Cotdamn!Paced for three hours before deciding to kill her, smashed her head in after trying to cremate the body in an oven, then dragged your mother's corpse outside and hid it.

I am quite literally lost for words, your moms man ................ dub tee eff?

"Abuse of corpse" is an interesting thing to charge a murderer for.
Its an odd terminology but its a common charge though its usually desecration of a corpse or something similar. Prosecutor is simply making sure to throw everything at him

Kid sounds completely broken.
This really is one of those situations where I doubt there is much that can be done for the kid. Not advocating putting him to death but I cannot see a situation where he is ever let out among society again

Ugly news generally does not go unnoticed by me.

During my trauma rotation, I had almost the exact same case.

Only difference he used dumbbell instead of chair legs. And the reason was cheating on his wife.

Funny thing was the guy then called 911. The victim is alive but a veggie

It would seem apparent that this didn't occur as a result of a single disciplinary act. Sixteen-year-old children don't murder their parents just because their Playstations were taken away. Although I could see why a for-profit newspaper might report it that way.

If the exact same thing happened in Colombia, the kid would be in the streets in 2 days. No mater what kind of crazy shit you do as a kid, you will be out in 2 days. Isn't that pretty fucked up?

This is a horrible crime and I hope severe punishment is applied to him.
