BritGaf meet up Episode VIII: Christmas Special

What's the consensus on jumpers vs. hats?

On the pro-jumper side I have a spectacularly garish festive number to wear, but on the other hand it has the potential to be hotter than the sun.
 
my logic is that if you wear the hat, it's cheap, you can wear whatever else you like that's appropriate for the weather outside/heat inside.
 
The missus has just found me a fetching hat, so that's sorted.

Silly question perhaps, but I assume people at least use their real first names at these meets? Would feel most peculiar saying "Hello, dapper bandit", for example!

People tend to switch between the two.

Especially with Jordan.

I respond to nothing else.

Just kidding, there's no accpeted version of this to my knowledge: some go by first names, some by user names, some by shortened versions of user names.

Yeah as the others have said we tend to go between the two. It depends what your username is and if it works as an actual name. Quite a few people tend to call me Musha in real life, which I'm totally cool with.

If you've not been to a meet before, when introducing yourself we tend to go with username then real name, then whatever people remember more you will be called.

Well, in all honesty, Cyanide rolls of the tongue quite easily and is memorable. Unless your real name is something like Fernando or Horus it's probably going to happen and I wouldn't read any meanness into that.

Also avatar #23751 get's a 5/10 from me.

Doesn't really capture any of your personality.

Except for perhaps the Moaner Lisa thing.

Not really bothered either way, apart from as a way of recognising posters (which is irrelevant for those who change theirs all the time) I really don't give a crap about what people have as their avatars.

I do have a t-shirt of the companion cube somewhere, if it still fits I may wear it.

Got myself into a bit of a dilemma about getting home, so may do what I always do and appear from 7-12.
 
I'm going to be a smug bastard and wear my Mighty No. 9 backer t-shirt. :D And a top hat. I should be easy to spot.

(And a Christmas thing too, don't charge me entry fee!)

I'm sad to say that I'm not gonna be able to make it tomorrow. Lil Evy has reflux and I cannae in good conscience leave the wife to deal with it alone. Her sister can only stay tonight now to cover my work's do, the selfish swine! ;)

Really sorry! I'll endeavour to make it to ze next one... In London. Hope you have a legendary evening!
 
Okay so actual question, are these usually overnight ventures? I'm asking in case I should be buying a day return or overnight return ticket back home. I'm up for staying out all night but it'll be a bit rubbish if everyone has gone home by 2am. >_<

Some people shoot off to get their last trains, at one-ish. Others stay until everything shuts.

Also, I miss you in BritGAF mane, the bawdy gag quota is suffering with you busy fathering and Jed being exiled to the Limbolands.
 
Well, I can't make it now unfortunately. I ended up spending what little money I had left for the month watching the Pixies twice. And i'm seeing Primal Scream before payday too. Oh well, maybe next time.
