British intelligence and NSA considered possibly capturing Kinect webcam traffic

Spying on your citizens have nothing to do with terrorism and all to do with political control of the people. Whoever or whatever you are in 10, 20 or 30 years, never forget they will know anything there is to know about you.

For the people solidarity LOL...

Not really.

USA spent more time spying on Chancellor Merkel and foreign countries as much as their own.

I think people just spy indiscriminately on anything they can world wide and hope to blindly find something, while targeting important people directly...

I love the smell of government apologists in the morning (see: evening).

People are focusing too much on the Kinect aspect. Maybe, if the OP had removed the word 'Kinect' from the title, then some of these responses would've been different,

The first quote states that it generated fairly normal traffic which suggests that they had a look surely? They couldn't have simply based that on conjecture

That's a bit of a leap, don't you think?

Not sure you can really say its a bit of a leap anymore.

We know that Microsoft were one of the first adherents to Prism.

We know that the intelligence agencies have monitored chatter in World of Warcraft and Xbox Live.

Only just yesterday, we have been told that they have accessed Yahoo webcam footage.

So, it may be a leap but it's not much of one.

You should contact Microsoft and ask considering your stature.
