Broforce PS4 is fucking terrible

Yeah and it's a shame. I was having fun with it but I think I'll wait for a patch before continuing. Staying <15 fps for an entire level really hinders the experience.

Some high-profile indie releases on PS4 have been pretty shitty recently:

Broforce is a garbage port
Firewatch had major performance problems
Where's that Nuclear Throne patch?

Something something Unity, something something multithreading problems...

I wish this game would run better. It's a shame that it runs worse on my PS4 than on my 2012 MacBook Pro.

Yes I know some Unity games run well on console, but there are definite problems with the engine. Apparently they are patching the multithreading issues in the near future.

Assault Android Cactus is really a technical marvel when it comes to Unity. The developer put a LOT of work into smoothing out visual and performance hiccups common to most other games.

The extra time in Early Access and then the many months since official 1.0 launch on PC definitely made sure the PS4 port is A+. Was very glad to see they didn't rush it.

Because every single time you start a level, and I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME, including when you die and it restarts you, after about 5 seconds of playing the game you will lose all control of the character for about a second and they will just stand there. Note that the game does not stop, you only lose control of the character and thus, can totally die.

This is really an egregious bug. It's like playing Super Meat Boy, complete with quick restart, except that about one second after you start moving you lose complete control.

So the point of the quick restart is lost when you have to stand there until gravel-voice finished yelling "go."

But it's really the only complaint I share with you, OP.

Galak-Z is a lot of fun, I love the episodic style gameplay. It's like playing a Saturday morning cartoon.

I wasn't feeling it. Reminds me of some of the old low-rent shareware Mac games, only with that 90's Flash animation in cutscenes. Gameplay did seem solid, however, might revisit.

Sony just shot themselves in the foot.I don’t know how much the rest of you know about digital culture (I’m an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It’s not like it is on Steam where you can become successful by being a shitty meme. If you screw someone over on PSN, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance. What this means is the PS4 public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Broforce for either system, nor will they purchase any of Sony's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sony has alienated an entire market with this move. Sony, publicly apologize and cancel Broforce for PS4 or you can kiss your business goodbye.

I knew AAC didn't have a chance against broforce.. I wish it did though.
Like broforce is okay without the preformance issues, but I think the game is too long for its own good cause I got tired of it after about 6 zones

I'm sure Broforce won the IGC for the month based on name alone because honestly Assault Android Cactus doesn't sound great in name but boy is it an awesome twin stick shooter.

Eh... if I had to describe AAC's gameplay in one sentence it would be "I can't see shit, Captain.". I hate the look of the characters, too.
And the performance problems weren't known when people voted for Broforce.

Did my part. Now let's see if anyone else will, or maybe people rather just bitch about it instead of having it actually fixed.

I'm a big space fan too. But the art is fucking terrible, it really does the genre no favors.
The art tries to represent space cartoons/anime and it does a damn fine job.

What confuses me the most about this (And granted, I haven't played it so I haven't witnessed it first hand), is how developers can feel that it is acceptable to release a game in this state?

Now, I've been on the dev end of quite a few issues that have made it to live, so I understand that things can slip through the net, it happens, but something that is as widespread as to render a game "unplayable"... My only thought is time constraints. Must be something to do with getting everything done and dusted for a launch...

It's strange, annoying and saddening. I've heard good things about the game, and I really wish that this had gone off without a hitch.

Oh well, I suppose everything in life is a lesson. Hopefully some good can come of it for someone.

Broforce is a good game, but the PS4 version is a poor showing so far.

Edit: Is the explosion muffling new? I kind of hate it.

Such a shame because the game is really, really good. I finished 10 levels before it got so bad that I was getting killed constantly for the game not responding to my inputs. Hope it gets sorted out soon.

The games incredibly fun, and the only issue which is bothersome is the freeze glitch at the start of a level. But that's easily remedied by just not moving for 5 seconds then no issues going forward.

Unless I've been extremely lucky not to run into these other glitches, sounds like they are overblown.

I'm overblowing the game crashing itself trying to load a level every time?

Wait until later missions when the framerate drops to single digits.

It's addictive as hell, but it's fucking broken. Buggy as hell and the performance gets worse and worse the further you progress.

Its a shame really. Game in theory is awesome but its such a pain to play especially when its based around quick restarts like Super Meat Boy.

Yeah, the further you get into the game with the more shit/enemies there are poppin off the worse the performance gets. I swear certain Bros like Boondock Saints and McGyver make it worse too

I am confused why they would have to ask the user base what issues they are having... all they have to do it try to play the game on PS4 for and hour and they would figure out really quick that its a Hot Mess. Fun game.. horrible issues

I should add that I have beaten the game on Normal and Hard.. near the end game the framerate drops almost make this game impossible to play..

That weird pausing glitch where you lose control of your character is pretty shitty ... especially in some of the levels that start off with getting bombs dropped on the starting location. Easy enough to avoid usually by waiting for a moment before you get to murdering but yes... pretty dumb.

Other than that though i've been having a lot of fun with it online. Only a few odd glitches with the co-op setup (couple hard drops, couple issues with connecting and a ridiculous AFK management thing in place where you drop from the action if you aren't moving around for like a minute or two. And i mean moving around... jumping up and down in place shooting for a minute straight? Dropped son. So dumb.)

Predabro is king though so it's all good.
