Yeah so much of that looks dated. Some devs just need to embrace UE4.While they're at it they need a completely new rendering pipeline because everything about their games looks incredibly behind the times.
They tried with Mila but you know.
Mila comes across as a worse Vanessa from KOF. Not really the most exciting character.
Now, Vanessa is an amazing character. Secret Agent MILF who punches people, that's the kind of character design I want more of.
My man.Yeah so much of that looks dated. Some devs just need to embrace UE4.
No one's ever gonna believe me when I say that I like using Marie Rose because of her moveset, but it's 100% true.
Momiji and Hitomi are my girls tho.
Mila did get the short end of the stick, yeah. Out of all of the brand-new women created specifically for DoA5 (as opposed to the guests, NG crossovers, or another Kasumi clone like Phase-4), each one of them found a devoted following with the exception of her, with Marie Rose, Honoka, and Nyotengu easily managing to eclipse her in popularity. Mila most embodied the original direction that Team Ninja wanted to take with the game with their "I'm a fighter" campaign that was set on scaling back the fanservice in order to focus on presenting a more serious image, but she was more or less rejected along with that aim.I will say that Mila has been done incredibly dirty by pretty much everyone and it sucks. She should be in Tekken imo, she'd probably be treated better there.
Nioh is a 60fps soulsborne like action game on console don't know why your using that as an example no shit it wouldnt be much of a lookerWhile they're at it they need a completely new rendering pipeline because everything about their games looks incredibly behind the times.
If they want to sacrifice alot just to reach stable 60fps on console with UE4 sure do this like SFV, Tekken 7 on console, I guarantee DOA7 will be more of a technical feat for 60fps fighter game on console than those two on consolesYeah so much of that looks dated. Some devs just need to embrace UE4.
I kinda remember one of the guys from Team Ninja saying DOA5 would not sexualize the girls anymore, when it was first announced. The ads were "I'm a fighter", with the girls covered with dirt and sweat, more realistic looking style wise than the rest of the series. But then, DLC and F2P happened. Am I remembering wrong?

First the base complaining about moving away from the fanservice happened, leading to TN backpedaling on their previous plans, then everything else.I kinda remember one of the guys from Team Ninja saying DOA5 would not sexualize the girls anymore, when it was first announced. Koei Tecmo always go for Gameplay > Graphics mainly
Because it still looks terrible in general. Skin shading, the hair, pretty much every material they use for clothes, props and environments, the lighting, scene density like no their games in general look terrible when it comes to visuals in this day and age. You can have good visuals while maintaining a 60fps framerate.Nioh is a 60fps soulsborne like action game on console don't know why your using that as an example

She's a giant mish-mash of copy pasted moves but ultimately the results look really cool and she's fun to play, which is what it's all about. DOA5 is ancient though, where the hell is 6.
So like, Dural?
there's only one direction a DOA thread can goThis was kind of a brutal thread backfire, huh?
This was kind of a brutal thread backfire, huh?
Pretty much. It was inevitable, really.there's only one direction a DOA thread can go
when they stop raking in hand over fist from DLC costumes they'll consider it
That is what's hinted, yes (along with the same red energy that she uses for techniques specific to her).Somewhat of a spoiler but who cares about DOA's story, isn't it hinted she is related to Raidou? She is his tag team partner in DOA5LR. Raidou is a boss from DOA1 who stole people's moves, like that kamehameha from the ninjas. I think she is actually one of his bastard children and takes after him (the other kid being Ayane). So that's the excuse she copies stuff. She also stole copy and pasted Marie Rose's face.

They never said they wouldn't, but that there was an intention to tone it down somewhat. Still, the fans didn't like that, so it ramped up hardcore around the time that DOA 5 Ultimate came out.
DOA5U is when Rachel was introduced to the game, so that automatically makes it the better one.
I don't think she's terrible but I'm not too fond of her. I'm definitely in agreement with your "rather have Honoka in the game than Marie Rose" sentiment though. She's a terrible character, but I would take a thousand Honokas over a Marie Rose
Jesus christ your fanservice BS isn't immune from critique.I see the no fun allowed crew has graced another thread
There is no room for female fanservice no matter how niche the game is
I see the no fun allowed crew has graced another thread
Marie Rose isn't the first time the dead or alive series has come under fire.Usually happens whenever someone brings up Marie Rose.
Which is hilarious to me since for a long time Kasumi was 16 (underage) back when the first DOA Extreme Beach Volley ball games came out. But nobody likes to talk about that I guess. They'ed rather take umbrage with a character design they don't like and brand people as pedos if they don't agree.

Not wrong. A vocal portion of fans didn't like it, and things changed. As a result, TN went all out and we got current DOA5 in all its sexualised glory.
I think there are still polarising sets of fans on the issue, but I'd wager most that err on the side of less fanservice have just decided to embrace it for what it is, knowing there is little hope of it changing.
I believe she also has the largest breasts in the series. And yet as creatively bankrupt as she is, at least she wasn't designed to appeal to people that fetishize underage girls.
Also, Honoka is far more interesting in DOAX 3

...and let's just say that this one may be a bit NSFW, so I'll leave it linked.

Yes but she still has the mannerisms and has the face of a child. Itagaki is one of the creepiest developers in this industry. Dude's last game literally had a character who due to genetic experiments, can't age past the age of 16.I know, I'ed just like people to keep things into perspective when it comes to her. At least she was 18 form the get go.
Yea it's not like this is a new thing. It's weird since the DoA series has come under critique quite often for their portrayals.
Straight up has a side ponytail lmfao.*looks at gifs*
She wasn't?

That's fair, but this is still worse:

She's OBVIOUSLY 18. Clearly.
Are you being sarcastic or are you just that desperate to defend how creepy this is?
I'm not going to comment on her physically because honestly I'm a terrible judge of age and it being a virtual character just adds an extra layer of confusion, but 18 is stretching disbelief and she's clearly dressed in something I can't imagine seeing someone even close to 18 wearing.
