Brutal Legend for Wii unofficially confirmed; Double Fine not developing

The rail shooter meme is getting old prety fast.
Here's a new one: Guitar Hero clone. But one could say Guitar Hero is still on rails.

Wow. Milking it for what it's worth.

Well obviously since Tim Schafer hates Nintendo and how he made fun of the Gamecube when REFUSING to port Psychonauts to it because of his irrational hatred of Nintendo consoles

Lol no one wants to make games for the Wii!

I'd like to slightly alter my initial statements: I either want a straight port or a conversion to a Point N Click version for Wii with Schafer writing.

Frankly I don't get what is Tim's problem with nintendo platforms. Psychonauts would have been a great addition to the Gamecube. I really believe that that was it's place. It just has that vibe that nintendo fans love and Xbox fans never give a f*uck about while playing Halo, Gears or whatev...

Yeah, I dont get why he ignores Nintendo >.<

Also, there are more guitars available for the Wii then the other platforms, guitar hero and wt sold alot more on Wii didnt it.

Hmm, he should add multiplayer with people using the different instruments!

Probably the same problem all the other heavy hitters seemingly have with them.

Haha, the "tim schafer hates nintendo" thing is never going to die is it?

Even if I'm just wasting keystrokes I feel obligated to say that he doesn't fucking hate nintendo.

People still blame Tim for Psychonauts not appearing on the Gamecube? Really? Com'n, Psychonauts was originally an Xbox exclusive, hence why Double Fine only worked on the Xbox and PC versions. If anything blame Majesco for not porting it to the Gamecube like they did with the PS2. Of course I'm not sure Majesco is really blamable either considering how poorly Psychonauts did and how poorly Gamecube 3rd party games did too.

Even if the quality is somehow equal, the fact that it would be coming out a "year or so" later kills any chance the game has of selling anyway.

I would say it needs to be is a good port or whatever and actually get some ads. Everyone likes to claim there are new gamers on wii etc. yet virtually only nintendo really spends any money on ads.

Why would you want a degraded port? Just get it for your ps3 or 360.

Oh, be fair... at that point, the GameCube didn't appear to be the most viable platform... granted, you might be able to make a case between the Xbox and the GameCube, but it wasn't like the GameCube was lighting up the charts as the most viable platform -ever-.

Because I'm poor.

I'm living in a suite next year though, and we'll have a N64, Wii/Gamecube (lulz), Xbox360, and Dreamcast in the place, so hopefully I'll get to play it then.

Christ, do you guys really think Tim Schafer specifically, as an individual, hates Nintendo platforms and kept Psychonauts off them? Is that actually what you think?

This is what we know.

Part of me really wants this to be a point-and-click adventure game. If there's going to be a big (possibly year-long) delay between BL on 360/PS3 and this Wii game, they may as well do something different with it.

They could make it an on-rails point-and-click adventure game.

EDIT: Holy shit, I'm a genius!

Why would point and click work for Brutal Legend?

They really need guitar peripheral support in the game if they want to move product on the Wii. I would link to the awesome video of someone playing Devil May Cry 3 with a guitar controller but one of YouTube's updates ruined the video.

I respect DoubleFine's artistic integrity and all but they really need (and deserve) a mainstream hit.

I played Pshychonauts first in PS2 then in PC. It's the same exact game, the only changes are graphics and control

I'm not sure what to think of this. Need more Info. Remaining sceptical and mildly pessimistic in the meantime.

I hear he eats honey-glazed babies for breakfast and rides a car that runs on puppies instead of gas. Of course, them's just rumours and hear-say. Could be inaccurate.
It could very well be kittens instead.

Why don't you clear it up for us then?

Double Fine just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about heavy metal culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in Northern Europe where you can become successful by being a bearded viking. If you screw someone over in America, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the American roadies, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Brütal Legend for no system, nor will they purchase any of Double Fine's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Double Fine has alienated an entire market with this move.

Double Fine, publicly apologize and cancel Brütal Legend for Wii or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Obligatory. Sorry.

Yes. There does need to be a Phoenix Wright film starring Christian Bale.

That thread had such a beautiful arc. :lol

Not entirely surprising. IIRC, this showed up as Brutal Legend (PS3, 360, Wii) not too long ago. Hope the port is decent.

Crappy Wii spin off confirmed.

Shut up. You should take this as a good sign. It looks like EA has realized it pays to include the Wii! Wii owners are getting a Dead Space game and now a Brutal Legend spin off. They could turn out to be great games. Don't write it off before you've even seen or heard anything about it!

Woah. I don't know if I can handle all of that AAA support.
