So, I watched all of Buffy & Angel on Amazon a year or two ago and that was already presented in 16:9 (with the exception of season 1). Some of the problems were present, but it didn't have any "redone effects" as far as I know. I think a lot of these problems stem from just using that version.
For what it's worth, it did not hinder my enjoyment of the series.
