Halo-related. The best guess at the moment (based on some pre-E3 leaks/rumors) is a grittier, 3rd-person squad-based shooter, perhaps based on the ODSTs.Cerrius said:What's been the word on this new project?
Halo-related or entirely new IP?
Why so pessimistic? They won't make the same mistake twice.StUnNeR H2K said:I'm kinda glad i'll be working tomorrow with no way to get to a computer til the afternoon.. I don't want to plan to waste another half of my day to see absolutely nothing happen.

The original leak said Gears of War meets GRAW and similar in tone to those Neill Blomkamp shorts.
That sounds cool to me. We'll find out soon enough.

Wow. Didn't know that anyone from IGN had a decent relationship with Bungie, after the bullshit TXB has pulled in the past with Halo 3 and the whole Matt Casamassina ordeal. I guess I'm a bit myopic when it comes to this shit.gnarkill bill said:"Bunch of the Bungie staff and G4 staff including myself went out to lunch today."

Kibbles said:Isn't MonsterTard the guy from TXB who called Halo 3 nothing special and that it was just going to be Halo 2.5 ??? I doubt he had any inside info on the teaser too. Just because he had talks with Bungie and G4 at lunch, doesn't mean anything. They probably just told him that they were going to announce their next project tomorrow, and that's where he's basing his crap off of.
I'd definitely be happy with that. But I have a hard to believing that is what it'll be. The just put up the new patch for Halo 3 and more maps are on the way. They wouldn't announce Halo 4 now.voltron said:Whats the general consensus? Would be people be more disappointed if it was literally Halo 4? Or is that what people want?
Id be happy with that.

At any rate, my expectations are right where I want them to be, thank you.
I'd love something in the Halo universe that takes the focus off being the solitary badass and puts you in the middle of huge Covy/Human/Flood firefights--and a 'grittier squad-based shooter' sounds like it might be just that.voltron said:Whats the general consensus? Documented? lol. No.exfixate said:Was there documented words of disparity between Bungie and IGN, specifically for Matt Casamassina's insistence on showcasing a project that probably didn't get off the ground for other reasons than the obvious one?
Those screens are from a thread on Bungie.net that was closed within minutes of it being posted.JohnTinker said:Where to access this? Marketplace or Halo 3?

I'm not saying that there aren't people at Kirkland who would have lunch with people from IGN and I'm not saying that didn't go down here, I'm just a bit shocked because I've been under different "undocumented" impressions of the situation as it were.

halo RPG? that would be fun with loot and upgrades and shit. I agree though, what keeps me interested in the series isnt necessarily the MC story line, its the mechanics, time to mix up the players.AndersTheSwede said:I don't know. I think if its going to be another Halo that the series really needs a rejuvenation. Halo 3 was the apex of the Halo 1 formula. It's time to mix it up, and the best place to do that is with a new (or related) ip.

exfixate said:I think the great thing about the transpired teasing has been the subtlety of it. We know there's this Superintendent -- some type of A.I., surely -- that rhetorically spits out the same phrases: "KEEP IT CLEAN!, YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!, PLEASE REMAIN CALM!" We can glean some more information from the two recently posted log-type conversations from bungie.net -- the fact that the Superintendent is conversing with an officer, who seems familiar and expectant of the things the A.I. says to him. Also, that there is a conflict or war of sorts occurring between human citizens and some unknown adversary. There are two distinct connections to the Halo-verse, coming from the first few lines in the second posted dialogue -- the United Nations Space Command (UNSC), and The Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), a subsidiary of the UNSC itself. More detailed information about the UNSC here, and more information about ONI here.
Had you guys made the correlation between S1 -- from the second log -- and the mysterious Section 1 of ONI? Something that's probably been out there from the second it was posted, but I haven't been able to follow these developments very closely.
Yeah, take a second to read the thread's last few pages. We've talked about Section One and the possibility that this is an elite group of ODSTs being sent down to an ONI spook for recon work against the antagonist, which is presumably the Covenant or the Superintendent or both. Lots of signs point to that line of thought.exfixate said:Had you guys made the correlation between S1 -- from the second log -- and the mysterious Section 1 of ONI?
