Burnout Paradise: PSTriple vs. X3Shizzle Comparison Battle Thread

So much for the hype of the PS3 version, especially from Shane/1UP. A puff of smoke and gone.. So this is what "Superior version PS3 lead platform, built from the ground up" means; A rough second pri port from the second pri dev team on the 360 still ends up identical...?

Ok, the end result is fair enough, but at least hold your horses a bit next time you feel like splooging out your PS3 superiority-speak.

The 360 version before the land looks like it's 13fps. Funny how Orange Box comparisons draws the Xbots like moths to a flame, then a comparison that goes the other way is suddenly "I can't tell", "You guys are pathetic".
The fact is that those gifs are slowed down so you can tell the difference. If the game chugged along like that I think both ps3 and 360 owners would be appalled.

the ps3 gif isn't 60fps. that should tell you something. lets see if it tells you the right thing.

most reasoned people in this thread are calling this one as it is. PS3 > 360. just as a lot of the same people called The Orange Box the other way. most reasoned people in this thread are saying that the two versions are much closer together than they were for The Orange Box too.

because they are.

Going with the PS3 version myself. I actually really enjoy the tilt steering. I found everything else on both demos nearly identical...

I hate to be arguing with you here. and you'll probably just ignore me, but when you look at 1st party efforts, the consoles certainl aren't close in terms of power at all.

Whatever makes you sleep better at night dude.

Oh wow. :lol

in my noobish opinion i think it's all about the lead platform ( like this one ) first to dev for( like DMC4 situation ) and more dev time ( Dirt situation ).

from what i saw here Burnout Paradise look better on PS3 IQ and framerate wise due to the lead platform thingy , and it's funny that some Xbox fans don't want to accept that and made it like nothing ( when some of them made big stories when there is inferior ver of some game on the PS3 ) , it's not the end of the world ya know guys .

for me the big thing here is that Dot50Cal has some qwarktastic driving skills , he drove on the same line at the same speed , making the same little turns on both versions , that something .

What if someone wants to accept that it is nothing. Because it is.

Oh god, you're doing it wrong. Ever think that it's more up to the developer and how they go about it?
Please don't have kids.

They (Criterion) never once said that the PS3 version was going to be superior because it was the lead platform. Their goal the entire time was to give both sets of gamers the same experience.

Hopefully this is how more multi platform games will go down in the future.

Biggest difference for me so far is LT/RT and L2/R2. I just can't get comfortable pressing down the PS3 triggers. :/

Um, the second comparison is just one picture posted twice. Thread failure total?
Would have been funnier had people said one version looked better than the other using that picture as an example. :lol

(it's the 3rd comparison which uses the same files btw)

I hate this whole "superior version" thing. Giving both consoles the same experience is the way it should be.

I agree completely. Why hope for a gimped version on either side? Just let everyone experience the game.

You can't "win" system wars when versions are identical, and "winning" is the whole point of gaming ... right?

Hell yes it's about time we start getting better frame-rate and image quality on ps3 multi-platform games. And the online is amazing! No loading or anything you just press the d-pad a couple times and your in!

After all shitty the Ubisoft ports like Graw and Rainbow:6 and Ea's crappy ports it's nice to see developers like Criterion (Infinity Ward, Epic, Bethsada, Codemastsers, ect.....) put in the effort and get really good performance out of the ps3.

Hows this? (PS3 on left, 360 on right)

DONT HOTLINK

What different stuff do you see (besides the obvious cars in the foreground on the PS3 version)?
how many FPS were these gifs captured at?

also whats with the 2 extra street signs on the left and right of the PS3 screen?

also the 360 one has the text feed scrolling across the bottom like one is during a race while the other is free roaming.

Honestly, Flatout Ultimate Carnage is better than this game and just as visually impressive. You want to crash? Try Flatout.

lol no! flat out games are the poor mans burnouts :lol

The PS3 version is a little "grittier", but both look much the same. I prefer L2/R2 over RT/LT too, so if I get it I'll get it on PS3.

Look, I appreciate BlimBlim's work very much, always.

But am I the only one who can tell JACK SHIT from those splitscreen comparisons? How should I know which version looks beter, when I see things in half, for crying out loud??!!

are you trying to say that 360 version slows down when ticker shows up and announcer talks?

*mind boggles*

I really don't know where anyone is seeing any slowdown in the 360 version, outside of that slowed down gif being floated around here. It honestly seems just as smooth as the PS3 version.

If dark10x isn't complaining about it, you know it has to be damn near undetectable even if it was there.

Better crash physics on the PS3 ver? (Same speed collision here, same barrier etc) The car doesn't crumple as much on the 360 one. Weird.

Interesting. I guess the SPE:s come in handy for these things.

Other than that. I can't see a difference in these pics.

Conclusion: All games should be developed on PS3 first to make the difference as small as possible.

It slows down evenwhen the ticker isn't there. That's the only place I've notice a "severe" slowdown like this in the demo.

doesn't this depend on how the car hit the barrier?

even if the angle was just slightly off it should change the type of destruction done to the car.

in this picture I can't see the other half of the car for either system, so they could be the same..

also the car hit the barrier at different times due to some awesome swerving done by whoever was playing.

Aye, you can crumple the car up just as much in the Xbox 360 demo.

I'd imagine there are all sorts of calculations going on... very difficult to get repeatable results on that one short of being able to set a speed on the car and drive straight on into a wall from a fixed start.

The only difference I noticed is the framerate dips a bit on the 360 version. I could not see any visual differences in textures, etc...

Its refreshing to see such little difference between the two systems. Also, the OP Mortal Kombat/Van Damme theme was a nice touch. :lol

Downloading the demo right now.
I don't know why though because I think the tracks in BO games have sucked lately(Burnout 2 is still king for tracks IMO). =/
