Call of Duty: Black Ops III "Ember" Teaser trailer

Nice trailer.

I wonder why Activision let Sledgehammer do Advanced Warfare when BO2 was already futuristic and BO3 is covering similar themes and will presumably feature similar gameplay.

Black Ops 3 was a given so I'm curious to see where COD goes next year.

So Black Ops III is set in 2065

CoD:AW is 2054..

I hope humans in CoD World got tired of Exo in 2054 and went full Deus Ex in 2065.

Found the teaser intriguing, but the end was a bit anticlimactic.
All these interesting thoughts and at the end its just the same old "military doing crazy shit" spiel.
In the end it's still a call of duty. So most of it will probably be just about shooting stuff

Did other people not like the differed gameplay pace of AW? The jetpacks, boosting, and increased speed made it the only CoD I've ever really enjoyed, and got me interested in the series. I'm pumped to hear it's coming back.

Saturday: Age of Ultron
Sunday: Black Ops 3 reveal

What a time to be alive.

badass.....but super soldier with involuntary control. Something tells me, we end up coming into control of ourselves as the main character.......person we love is shot while they temporarily regain control of us and then we kill bad guy free everyone from being war slaves.....

shit did I just ruin it?

Hell, if anything I hope this means there is NO "marketing" stuff going on.

No delaying of DLC, please.

For those surprised that people are discussing what this means for marketing -- DLC has been delayed for at least a month on playstation platforms for years now. It IS a relevant, gameplay-related point, so I don't see why the derision for people caring about this stuff exists. It's directly affecting players (hopefully it stops, rather than switch directions in case that's what's going on here -- although I still very much doubt it).

Yeah! So now a different console fanbase can wait 1 month for DLC!

Also, not sure how "confirmed" it is, the CoD reveal is usually done by Activision alone.

Whatever you think of the deal itself, it is huge for the company that gets it. CoD is still the 2nd-best selling video game franchise, so it matters for them and the message they want to convey. I personally couldn't care less and would prefer they'd rather put the money towards 1st party content, sure, but there's no denying it's important for them and also what it means beyond the marketing deal (e.g. MLG and so on).

I guess I'll eat crow for that Sony marketing, just all really odd. I thought Microsoft had a deal with activision until 2017.

Anyways it'll be interesting to see Treyarch's take on a half human/half robot kind of story.

I will not buy this game at launch. I will not give into the hype. I must know that multiplayer actually works. I will not buy this game at launch...

I feel somewhat offended, given that marketing deals are good for business-side discussions, yet it's always framed as fuel for shit like fanboy wars.

It is fodder for fanboy wars.

Anyways, the full cybernetic transition in this game could be interesting. I wonder how gameplay will be compared to AW if they are continuing down the path of enhanced super soldiers.

Something tells me we will be Cyborg.....I am ok with this!

Well, you're in the somewhat minority in that regard.

Marketing deals for big 3rd party games are great for offering bundles and stuff, but I can't remember a time where it hasn't caused a substantial amount of people to be robbed out of content or artificially walled off from new content

(ex. 1 month CoD DLC exclusivity, DLC costing the same on PS as on Xbox but w/ less content in Destiny, year wait, etc.)

What do I care if this is huge for Sony? Why should anybody care? Unless you own stock or are getting a piece of the pie it shouldn't matter, ESPECIALLY considering marketing deals always seem to fuck over gamers.

If it means Xbox no longer gets all DLC a month early yeah, it makes a huge difference.

But then the "other side" gets screwed. Or is that something that we want?

Sorry, I'm too busy consoling my 970 about being just under the cut for Arkham Knight's ultra settings to take console warz seriously.

Okay, I'll stop. I still think it's silly seeing a bunch of posts saying 'Sony/Microsoft marketing confirmed?' on nearly every multiplatform trailer.

Call of Duty: Human Revolution

Call of Duty: Mankind Divided

I'd agree but for a game like COD it doesn't really influence it that much. The game is a well known brand by everyone practically. An ad splashing Playstation will never convince people it's a PS game only

Of course it was better. It was the shot in the arm the series needed. If they go backwards on more mobility and stuff I have no interest in it.

I have no concerns, Treyarch has always made better Call of Duty's.

Also lol @ marketing deal obsessions. Does it ever make a difference?

Well it's a massive franchise that sells millions every year and you can see why Sony want to have it associated with their platform. If this means the reversal of the DLC policy (it would be good to see it neutralised) then fans will be all the more happy about it.

Obviously you are going to get the cheap points scoring that a few cant help but that's pretty much GAF now.

Pretty well made. Let's see if they put an interesting spin on this topic as it seems done to deaths at this point.

Maybe MS gets CoD AW and Sony gets BO? Or maybe MS and Sony get every other year?

Or Sony just paid more than MS and gets the whole franchise?

You betray your own logic; If marketing deals are directly affecting content, why shouldn't people talk about and discuss it?

While I'm at it, I totally disagree with people that didn't like the Exosuits and the changes to AW. It felt like the first fresh CoD in a VERY long time for me. Hopefully Treyarch delivers similarly in coming up with new ideas, even while obviously keeping the basic framework like AW did. I really did enjoy the AW campaign quite a bit, warts and all.

I wasn't expecting this, nor the Sony marketing or the 28 Days Later vibe.

I think the robotic limbs takes away from the need of an exo suit, but I'm excited to see where this goes.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying its a good thing by any means. And who knows Sony may get marketing deal and not early DLC. Maybe Activision puts all DLC on everything at the same time. It would be nice.

I was just saying from a sales / business perspective Xbox losing 1 month early for all DLC would make a BIG difference and would be a huge gain for Sony. Even with the console sales gap COD still sells more on Xbone in the US. That month early DLC is certainly a factor.

TBH, I would prefer if Sony spent the money on exclusives, like Gravity Rush 2. But if this is true, it would be a major blow to the Xbox brand. Guess Activision saw that the PS4 was the market leader.

Destiny did. I'm sure Batman, MGSV and Battlefrot will too. Gives Sony the ability to bundle the game with the console. Push units

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3: Human Revolution 2: Mankind Divided

So is this just advanced warfare without exos or will it be in continuity with the last two?

Treyarch always knows how to do something interesting with its story. Hopefully the execution of it will be better than BO2's, though.

I'm interested in seeing what they do with the premise as it gives them a lot of choice in terms of strange gadgets and movement options. I hope that they keep the mobility of the Exo-Suits in some form as it felt like what the series needed to stay fun.

Does Microsoft have multiple YouTube channels for Xbox? The BO3 trailer is only uploaded on the Call of Duty and PlayStation channels. Hmm

It's probably a Sony timed exclusive and won't be available on Xbox One until early next year. Sony's advertising makes me believe that's the case.

It was an interesting direction to take the series in but in terms of multiplayer it fell flat on it's face purely due to the fucking terrible netcode. The more I played online the more I realised how bad it was and I got a refund :)
