Call of Duty: Ghosts online multiplayer discussion thread

Either you're wildly overstating this, or I'm playing in games where it just doesn't happen. I maybe get spawn killed 2-3 times a night (depends on if people camp the overlook on the castle in stonehaven).

Is this the internet's penchant to be debbie downer or am I just easy to please?

Quick scoping, camping, spawn killing.

Is this just people whining?

I run into a fair amount of snipers but quickscopers, especially good ones are extremely rare (I mainly play TDM).

Camping, sure, I run into it often but I also run tubes so it doesn't bother me at all.

Bad spawns though? I run into it all the time. I guess it depends on your definition of "spawn killing". I'd define a bad spawn as one where you're either visible to the enemy team (i.e. I see you spawn in), the enemy is in the process of turning a corner as you spawn in or you spawn in surrounded by enemies (i.e. any path you take will lead to an immediate encounter where you are at a disadvantage because the enemy is already looking there). Right now I'd estimate that I experience ~3 bad spawns per game (either I see the bad spawn and benefit from it or I'm on the receiving end of it).

Yes, Stonehaven is one of the worst offenders because the spawn is so obvious. I mean two people on lookout building and a guy spawns in the ruins behind them? Silly. The issue is that this happens on ALL maps but it might not be as obvious to you because you move a lot more than when you're stationary like on Stonehaven (i.e. you're behind 3 story in freight moving towards 3 story and guy spawns lumber corner right on the other side of wall, you spawn pro-shop move towards mid in strikezone and guy spawns other side of proshop, you spawn north side of cargo in freight and guy spawns south side with LoS on you, etc.)

I think if we had theatre mode you'd be able to see how terrible the spawns are. I watched every killcam each time I died a couple of nights ago and it'd make you sick to your stomache the amount of times I saw a guy spawn in on his kill cam. But hey at least they fixed the inception bug from MW3 where you could see a guy die then spawn in and kill you /s

won 75-74

think i deserved mvp for this game

yes, there are definitely terrible spawns. on castle I was running to kill them inside the castle....enemy died and spawned 3 feet in front of my guy and started running the same direction I was. This isn't uncommon either I can see tons of people that spawn within mere feet from me and its stupid. It's funny though because the two biggest maps to me have the worst spawns.....you think bigger maps would solve the issue? Nope, for the most part it makes it worse.

Got my first two legit KEM strikes back to back the other night

Dom Freight and Dom Chasm, rolled specialist

took me a couple weeks but i finally got it, now i can go back to assault package

It doesn't physically change the map like it does on Strikezone, but it does put it into a sort of nuclear winter, the atmosphere all orange and gloomy, a bit hard to see people (not as drastic as the gas on sovereign though)

I

Im not whining.. It's a damn game...lol.

Hey- Hope it didn't come across as me singling you out. I wasn't. I just don't get people (again not saying you) who complain about COD year in and year out about the same things...things that I think are minor annoyances that have been apart of FPS games for years and years.

Lol at all these lame excuses for rejecting 1v1 duels. U know you would get shitted on, that's why. I wonder how you do in free for all?
Don't show off your kd for Tdm and domination, where you can be carried. Show off your free for all kd plz.

I consider FFA boosting. It's a far easier game mode and far easier to get a high K/D because you basically shoot anyone you see.

The fact that you quote that as a mode to prove your salt in just makes me think you're trolling.

Maybe I just don't get killed enough ;). I kid. I'm going to really start looking for this. There are definitely times where I spawn and am killed within one or two steps, but it's never made me think anything other than 'well that sucks' as opposed to OMG! it's broken. Except on Stonehave in the castle. That really drives be crazy and it becomes my mission to deal with those clowns.

What does 'spawning in' look like on the kill cam and how do you tell the difference between that and him just camping a spot where you happened to meander into?

Just got the game yesterday and I'm still learning the maps, but man are these maps huge compared to previous games or is it just me.

Definitely bigger.

My recommend would be to level up one character with your squad points a ways before you start spending them on another member or random stuff.

Also, you can buy perks. I didn't realize that until I was over a day in. :)

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but i truly believe that aside from 3 or 4 maps these are some of the best in the series

the only difference is that they require a longer learning curve, due to their size and complexities

FFA is all about getting into "power positions" and exploiting the shit out of spawns. The fastest way to 30 kills is to just "patrol" an area where there are multiple spawn points and kill people who spawn in over and over. Yes it requires some gun skill, I guess but show any average player all the power positions on each map and I'd bet he'd never place outside of top 3.

They're not just bigger but also includes paths EVERYWHERE. So prepare to get shot from every angle possible and because of the terrible spawn system (worst in CoD history), prepare to get shot from behind a lot, especially in the beginning.

I've played a ton of games now, and I have to say that Hunted is my favorite mode. I like having to take weapons from people and using them, and especially using my pistol. I like using the pistols in COD, but they were never all that good in regular modes. In Hunted since it's the primary weapon, it's the best mode for me. Especially since everyone is mostly on equal levels since you don't get much ammo from weapons.

Cranked has gotten pretty fun as well. Feels just like TDM but people are forced to not camp or they'll die.

I would enjoy Blitz more, but most of the randoms I play with don't know what the heck they're doing. Your role is to either sit and protect the goal, or rush for the other teams goal. I have to play both roles of the rusher and defender, because my teammates are running around trying to get the best K/D.

oh gloomy gus. :)

I love that there are 3 ways into almost every room. Makes it far more tactical and challenging to hold a section down.

And I agree with Rixxan. I love nearly all the maps. Ones that I hated (stormfront, whiteout, flooded) are growing on me too.

If you're fine with things the way they are now I would just continue to not look for these things as they'll just make you angry haha.

What does 'spawning in' look like on the kill cam and how do you tell the difference between that and him just camping a spot where you happened to meander into?

1) I've spawned at every spawn point already and I can recognize the spawn position (what direction they're facing, gun is up and ready but not in the movement phase, they are standing straight up (not crouched or prone) and a couple frames after the kill cam starts they begin to sprint direclty forward from their spawn position). Basically it looks exactly like what I would do if I just skipped a kill cam and spawned in.
2) The big giveaway is the kill cam is less than 7 seconds. You'll notice if you die in a regular 1v1 the kill cam lasts 7 seconds but if the enemy hasn't been alive for that long they'll only show you from spawn in to you dying.

On the giving end I can tell because they have the same standing still then begin to sprint animation that I can recognize or I hear silence go to full stampede right next to me and I doubt someone would crouch walk all the way to my location and then just start sprinting away :P

Cranked has gotten pretty fun as well. Feels just like TDM but people are forced to not camp or they'll die.

I like cranked too but mainly because I can camp and people who think they can't camp will keep rushing at me to their deaths. :D

You where playing with a whole lobby of scrubs

Yeah but to be fair his scrubs were worse than their scrubs and he pretty much carried them.

Breaking 40 in TDM is pretty sweet regardless of who your opponents are.

I've literally appeared in front of someone on the killcam. As in, I materialized from thin air. On the killcam, I wasn't there one moment, and then the next moment I was. And the next moment I was shot. That's only happened once in a long list of bad spawns, but that was the worst.

These maps are straight trash. Strikezone and Freight are like the only maps that I think are decent

IW/Treyarch need to hit up Alex Roycewicz and Geoffery Smith for lessons on how to make good maps

Hardcore Team Deathmatch totally works better for my style of play. I am learning the game way faster here than other modes. Also a great way to try out ranged weapons.

Also I realize it's an unpopular opinion but this is my favorite Campaign in the series.

Strikezone, Freight, Prisonbreak, Tremor, Warhawk, Overlord

All good enough for rotation in any COD version

Shitty players + "good" camping (leads to killstreak) = profit.

I was more posting that screenshot because every other member of my team had a negative ratio and we won by one regardless, not because the 45-3 is particularly special on its own

Im also always on the move, but I've come to accept that the first thing people do when they see a decent KDR is scream camper

"Good" camping is just not just sitting in one place. That's "bad" camping. "Good" is when you move to a spot, kill 1-3, move to next spot (often so you can easily see and kill the same people thinking you are in old place) and repeat.

Sounds like you're describing a player who's outsmarting his opponents.

AEGISX mad cause banned

I'd prefer to just call that competent map control and intelligent playstyle

if the only way it doesnt fall under some variant of camping, "good" or "bad", is for me to perpetually and illogically run around the map, then i guess im a camper

I am actually telling everyone to play like this, especially in Ghost with 4-5 ways. If not, you are just asking to be killed.

Who the fuck is AEGISX?

I'm guessing next-gen platform. I've been playing daily on PS4 and online players were at their highest ever yesterday with 55k, up from the normal 30k. The problem with being an early adopter is the online pool obviously isn't as populated and the majority of the players are skilled. It's very rare for me to get a lobby where someone isn't at least a 3.0+ k/dr, and in some cases I've seen it as high as 10.0+.

That's what I like to call semi-camping. Staying in a spot because you know the map so well that you know the hotspots of the maps. It's not really camping, but smart playing. It's what gave me a KDR of above 3.00 in both MW1 and MW2. Knowing the hotspots to a map, and "camp" from a suitable position, is key to your KDR.

Maps ruined it for me a bout a month ago

Might go back because everyone and there brother got this shit for xmas and have been talking about partying up.

Maps are just shit tho...god....

No worries. I agree with you in most. In my case though, I really think the spawns are abysmal.

Maps are worse than MW1 and MW2 maps because of way to many paths. Some of the Ghosts maps have grown on me though, but are still below the quality of MW1/MW2 maps.

Camping is just a tactic as valid as any other. If you're good at it anyway. If the enemy team is unwilling to flank and employ tactics that is their fault.

or did you mean that all the good players went on to ps4 and xbone?

You make a valid point, but I have to argue with your findings

I have a 3.6 KDR and 750+ games played on the PS4

Ive only seen higher KDRs maybe 10-20 times, and have gone probably 50 games at a time without seeing anyone in the 3.0 range, and yes im that douche who checks before every match

Its random, ill go days at a time where im playing nothing but clans - with good players

and then ill have a stretch for a few hours where im playing against cute lil newbies, it feels completely random to me

it also depends on the time of day, somewhat

Define camping then. The worst possible way of camping is "proning" in a corner and shooting targets that runs by. The best way of camping, as I mentioned above, is to know the map's hotspots and camp from a suitable position, where you are still vulnerable from enemy's attacks. You go back and fort a few feet while covering a few pathways.

If anybody playing this on ps4 and wants to party up, send me an invite, got a new headset and would like to get some multiplayer or extraction (?) going.
