Call of Duty: Ghosts online multiplayer discussion thread

Ok...been playing a fair but of this over the past week on both xbone and ps4 and for some reason im cleaning up in the ps4 games but having a harder time on the xbone

does anyone else who has both notice the same issue??

Some quick observations
  1. Way more camping in the xbone lobbies
  2. Way more ragers on xbone....and lobby shoppers
  3. Honey Badger seems to be the most popular gun...will probably get nerfed
  4. really quick to find games on ps4...around 25-27k when im on...xbone has about 15-19k
  5. quick scoping is almost non existent on both versions....compared to the last 2 games

enjoying the ps4 version alot more due to the sharper graphics...it does help identify prone campers at longer distances but either the skill level of the ps4 lobbies is different to the xbones or am i just getting scrub lobbies??

Just got this for Xmas from a family member for Ps4.

WOW the maps are too big I think, at least on deathmatch. Ground war is fine I think. But deathmatch I would run around for minutes at a time before a camper would take me out. Something just feels off about this installment of COD, and I don't know what it is. It isn't just the large maps. Maybe it is because I have been playing too much BF4 lately

the numbers going up and up, this is the xbone version

it was at 54K an hour ago and when i first played in the morning it was at 40 K

the average was in the 20K's a week ago

Why is Extinction (PS4) telling me PS+ is required to play online...when I'm good until 12/2015...

:l
Do a network test and make sure psn passes. I had it for two incredibly annoying weeks and was finally able to determine that my router was the cause due to streamboost. Swapped it out and 0 issues since.

PS4 version a revelation in multiplayer compared to PS3. Sharp graphics, smoother aiming (down to pad), and actual people inhabiting the maps in ground war. Foliage colours still radioactive green but such an improvement. Shame the single player is a framedropping shambles, i wasnt prepared for how bad it would be.

Most of you probably already know but probaddie over at den forums finished the first round of his recoil plots.

Note that the burst w/ no attachment has a tighter grouping for 15 bullets but the grgouping on the first 3 shots (blue) is much tighter single fire so if you have a good trigger finger you're still better off single firing these things IMO.

Played domination on Christmas Eve and while getting clobbered I noticed my team wasn't bothering to capture the objectives. Seems most players are only concerned about k/d ratios.

Also pumped about 5-6 bullets into a guy charging me with knives, who then killed me.

Played Blops and Blops 2 to death, but I have little desire to play Ghosts.

Just played a game of Search and Rescue. My team's on defense. 20 seconds left on Chasm. I figure, "Let me go check on the bomb." I walk over to a ledge and ADS on the bomb. There's now maybe 15 seconds left. Someone walks into my view almost immediately to plant the bomb, and I kill them for the win.

The Final Killcam shows me ADS'ed directly on the bomb. Guy walks in. Dead.

Someone in the lobby: "Look at this camper!"

:-/

My best team death match was in Prison Break. I'm sniping in the tower, and get four kills. Guy runs up stairs and hits my IED, letting me put down my ADS. They start rushing me and counter-sniping, to no avail; I put down a turret and send out of chopper. By now they're PISSED, and are simply running at me while ignoring my teammates and turret, who get about fifteen kills each. With one kill left in the match, a new guy joins their team, runs up the stairs (my deathstreaks are gone by this point) . . . and doesn't notice me, just standing right by me. We both turn, stare at each other for a second, and I stab him. Match over.

I still feel bad for that last guy. His death was broadcast to the entire server.

Of course camping is a viable tactic and as previously described- kill a few guys then displacing to another spot is a key to success (tm).

The camping that frustrates me is when people climb on a table or a console in a blind corner of the room or lay down at the top of steps and depend on being out of direct line of sight for their kills.

However, at the end of those matches most people who employ that tactic have crappy stats.

If, for example, you go up into a building with multiple entrance points and park at a window I don't know that that's a bad form of camping as the other team should be able to get you at any time (though I will use IED and IMS to stem the tide).

On prison break. I love setting up shop at the top of the hill and murdering people as they come around the corner. near the truck. But it only lasts so long because you can get zeroed from the tower and from over your left shoulder. So kill some d00dz, displace to another spot, repeat.

I used to always be on the move, but now I'm more thoughtful and will sit in a spot for 30 or so seconds and then move about.

No offense to anyone, but seeking out stuff like this, for me, is taking the game WAY too seriously.

I never combs sites for the most power weapons or the ones that are OP. I find a set up and run with it and it just happens that I do pretty well.

To each his own though.

I've played about 8 hours of MP now. I tend to be a deathmatch player, but the maps are WAY too big for Free-for-All. I spend several minutes sometimes just looking for people before I get sniped. Not sure what the design decision was here. If anything, camping is now encouraged because the likelihood of just running into someone is so much lower.

I've resorted to playing TDM, which is a bit better since you can see where your teammate is congregating or moving toward.

Disappointed there's no P90, but I'm loving the Honey Badger with the Tracker Sight, Foregrip, and Armor-Piercing Bullets.

I would love to see a few small deathmatch maps from previous games come back, like the ship from MW1 or airport from MW2. As far as I'm concerned, outside of one or two maps, regular deathmatch is just not fun.

The maps definitely "shrink" as you play more and get to know them.

It's just fun. Might help you find a different build to use.

Eh. I use every weapon in the game regardless of stats.

I've gotten ~1k kills with everything the last couple of CODs BO2 for reference

The charts are nice to look at and try to figure out where weapons can work their best or what kind of behavior to look out for but at the end of the day nothing really beats the actual feel of the weapon when you're using it. I mean F2k was my fav weapon in MW2 but it was statistically poop.

More charts since you hate them so much:

I've been the victim of this before. Walk into a room. Didn't realize a guy is there. He just slowly walks up to me and stabs me. All on the final killcam.

ignore them
There probably the dumbass who run a around looking for kill instead of protecting the objective

wtf I thought they added different load outs to infected. I just played a game with bots and didn't see them.

I really don't see why in a custom game they don't let you tweak that stuff. Treyarch would let you.

Never knew how good I was as a sniper. I'm not a camping sniper, I'm one of the rare mobile snipers. I run around the map and usually will crouch at a random spot. Open my scope and kill the next guy that walks by. The sniper rifles in this game feel so good, since most of them are one hit kills from waist up. I've been getting constant killstreaks playing like this.

Also, I played a Team Deathmatch match on Prison Break, and discovered a magical camping spot. Some guy was camping in a tree and had a clear view of everything from where he was. He was just sitting there killing everyone that walked by. His score was like 15-0 at the beginning of the match. It took me 3 deaths to finally find out he was hidden in a tree up above. While I hated that the move really ruined the match for me, I do have to applaud that it was a clever camping spot.

I just got myself a $12 used copy of Black Ops II today, and I'm surprised at how much more fun I'm having with it than I've had with Ghosts. I like the tighter maps and the weapons that seem equally lethal (in Ghosts I always feel like I'm gimping myself by not using Assault Rifles). And I'm enjoying a lot of features that are strangely absent from Ghosts (match recording, emblem editing, camos on more than just the primary weapons, 4-player split screen, more options in the options menu, etc.)

It's not exactly the place for it, but I'm wondering what issues people took with the Black Ops II multiplayer?

After spending many hours on both the 360 and One versions of Ghosts, I think I actually like the 360 version better. The dedicated servers on the One are nice but there seems to be this haze with the visuals that the 360 doesn't have.

For example, on the map Prison Break, I can clearly see an enemy in the tower from the stump at the center above the logging camp with the ACOG scope on the 360 but on the One it is too hazy to see. I went through display adjustments on the TV and the one to clean it up but it didn't help. I'm convinced it is programmed in... maybe to compensate for the sharper resolution.

Now if only the 360 Ghosts had dedicated servers... :/

I'll probably trade in Xbox One version of Ghosts for BF4.

Quickscoping is the only real issue I have with it, it's really rampant and effective in BOII.

There was a lot of getting shot around corners as well, but it happens just as frequently in Ghosts in my experience.

Thanks for posting/linking the info, very interesting. I've been enjoying the Remington at the moment since I like low recoil, but I see it actually comes out at the bottom except for certain ranges.

Odd, I've made it to rank 18 and haven't run into a single quickscoper yet. And the shot around corners thing has been a non issue for me because, in most cases, I actually spawn near my teammates. Only once was I killed seconds after spawning.

People love to exaggerate and hate on Ghosts.

I loved BO2. Treyarch makes better maps than IW IMO.

I wish I had bought some DLC for it though.

Rebought this just for the new loadouts in Infected. Infected was the only thing in MW3 that I liked and is the only MP aspect of COD that I enjoy. Was so bummed at first when Infected only had that shotgun and no perks, no scavenger, etc. It was awful for me. But I rebought it now and am having a good time.

Well, Treyarch certainly don't make all the maps for BO2. A lot of the devs who make maps for COD titles made them for both BO2 and Ghosts. Certain Affinity and Raven certainly made maps for BO2 and Ghosts, so maybe they slacked off for Ghosts.

I ... I can't.

I just can't get into this. It's so strange. I could play Black Ops II, but this just doesn't work for me.

I aim and shoot at someone, and they kill me first. And I can't tell if it's lag, or if I am bad at the game. But I don't know when Call of Duty became so ... ugh, people camping corners and poking their heads out to shoot you. People just starting at doorways for you to walk by. And rarely, very rarely am I able to shoot someone first and kill them. And I was one of those players that consistently ranked in the top places in previous COD's.

I don't know if it's the PS4 triggers ... I don't know, but man this game has made me the most frustrated I have been with a game in a long time. If my DS4 didn't still have the new out of the box smell, I would have tossed it across the room.

Does anyone have any tips? I'm really struggling with the game.

I feel the same way. I used to consider myself "good" at CoD, at least in the pubstompy sense, but I was average at BO2 and I'm awful at Ghosts. I don't think it's the triggers at all, I find them nearly as good as the 360 triggers unless I'm using a semiauto weapon.

I think it's just the maps tbh. They're a different style.

New game. New console. New controller.
You're a noob right now. Practice makes perfect.

Just encountered an odd bug on PS4 hardcore mode. No ID labels floating over players, shooting anyone results in killing yourself. Blue team score was stuck at zero and gold team was up at 1600 or so. I found it in two consecutive games before quitting out.
