Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Beta Thread | PS4 Weekend

All these complaints on the graphics, is it possible they used lower quality assets to keep the beta size down?

All these graphics complaints are crazy, the game looks fine. Looks similar to past CoDs. This is coming from someone who plays the shit out of the games.

You people that hate IW but are still going to get it for MW:R.

Why?

All you're doing is telling Activision that it's ok to do this shit, rather than actually fixing the problem of Infinity Ward being shit. Why are you willing to support what is shaping to be the worst CoD multiplayer experience since Ghosts, which was so bad that Activision forced them to scrap the series because they didn't want name association to hurt sales?

After playing for a few hours last night, I went and cancelled my legacy edition preorder, because I refuse to support any part of this game, MW:R is not worth that. I guarantee you the same thing will happen in 3 years when they try to sucker people into buying the next game from the husk of Infinity Ward by attaching Modern Warfare 2 Remastered to it.

Safe to say the majority consensus here is that this is pretty bad. But with 2 other AAA shooters coming out in the next couple weeks, watch this game outsell both of them combined, which is really a shame. Battlefield is a different type of FPS and isn't for everyone but I hope that people who are fatigued with the COD formula or disappointed with this beta give Titanfall a look. There was a lot of negativity coming out of the tech trial but it seemed that the devs really listened to the criticism and made some significant changes. I'm still not sure it will be a better game than the first one but I have zero doubts it will be night and day better than this COD. All just my opinion of course.

Fuck, all these negative impressions, I wasn't expecting it. Being compared to Ghosts or worse? Oh boy.
In a way, it's nice I guess because if I don't play this then I have more time to invest in Modern Warfare, but it would've been cool if this was at least good. But then again even if it was good, the microtransaction and weapons RNG and fucking grindy salvage would've made me hate it anyway.
Oh well, at least there's still hope the campaign is good and Spaceland Zombies looks amazing.

To those that actually preordered at a place like Best Buy or GameStop, we can still cancel our preorders right? I probably will but we can still play the cod4 campaign for next couple weeks?

Playing the bf1 ea access trial and it's so good.

Of course you can cancel it's a preorder even if they made you pay it off. I just cancelled at my GS and the kid working is happy as hell said he's been having a lot of cancels already and people getting BF1. Just reminds that you lose the MW access after release if you cancel.

Tried it but this new COD bullshit isn't for me. It's not fun and I refuse to buy a game I don't like for access to a classic.

Edit: I liked Ghosts.... Played the shit out of it.. AW was the first CoD I HATED. I like choke points, I like camping and building big ass streaks.

Not sure what you are looking at, but the graphics are not good at all. Maybe it's the maps, but I'm not impressed.

As someone who only rented Ghosts to play the campaign, howhich exactly is its MP bad? I remember the bad TTK, but was there anything else?
It had the lowest TTK of any Call of Duty and the maps were stupidly open. Not sure if it affected the Xbox One version but on the PS4 it had a major frame pacing issue which made the game feel like it was running at 40fps at all times.

Also, forced knife animations.

This multiplayer is really fun to me. It's way more fun than Ghosts and Advanced Warfare. Is it better than BO3? Probably not. But I am having fun.

I'm still on board because the campaign looks really cool, but yeah I don't see how the MP will keep me compared to Titanfall 2 or BF1. Zombies seems even worse, in being just 80s Nostalgia.

But I love open map design 😐
Hmmm, maybe I'll actually like this 🤔

Well....gonna pass this game.

Black Ops 3 multiplayer is way better.

BO3 + Season Pass is probably the only COD on PS4 I'll need.

First match: 4v6 unbalanced domination, got spawn killed constantly and controls felt sluggish. Left match after first round.

Even my first ghosts match wasn't this bad and ghosts was the worst CoD that I've played.

Played until level 10
Easily the worst CoD game ever

Instant deaths, exploding walls, awful maps

The map Frontier (with the floating bodies after death) is hands down the worst map ever made

Played Ghosts earlier this week. Don't get the comparisons, tbh. For me, one of the main issues with Ghosts was how sluggish your soldier felt by default. Without a certain set of perks equipped, the game felt really clunky. This is much faster at the baseline.

I don't get the map design comparisons either. The Ghosts default maps were far more open than these. Here there are a handful of hot zones you have to be mindful of, but that's the case with most every CoD. I don't know if it's because I changed the audio settings to small speakers, but I was able to hear footsteps pretty well through my headphones too. Once I unlocked the trip mine (much better than the BO3 version, if slightly more visible), holding a room as a sniper wasn't too difficult.

My only real concerns are the rates at which you earn keys and salvage. Keys seem to come slower and less consistently than in Black Ops 3. Salvage seems to only be earned through log-in bonuses, infrequent Mission team rewards, and through opening supply drops (I actually got 3 salvage through a common supply drop. 3. The lowest you need for anything is 100. Only got 10 for opening a common duplicate too.)

Oh, and that hideous green tiger camo. Camos in this game look pretty weak altogether. If they aren't boring and samey, they're ugly and gaudy... and samey.

I still think ARs are too powerful at the moment. The fire rate + damage + low recoil makes range a non-factor. Handling is really good by default too, so that's also a non-factor.

Shotguns are too weak. Sometimes takes 3 hits to kill in close quarters with the Banshee. Even more with the Reaver. Way too inconsistent and low damage. Handguns could use a slight boost too. Weaker than the Black Ops 3 sidearms while ARs are stronger than the Black Ops 3 ARs.

That low-gravity map seems awful. I haven't played on it yet, but it seems like every corridor branches off into three other corridors, and all of the movement mechanics mean jack shit. It's surprisingly bad.

I warmed up to it. You have to be on the move consistently, but it's structure is very easy to read while navigating; the movement is key for transisioning between floors (either wallriding down the stairs, or jumping for the drop-down zone). I like it. Oh, and I think the floating bodies are kinda a neat gimmick.

Frost tho... it's okay, but eh... I historically don't like any snow maps in CoD, maybe that's it...

It has the same issue as Ghosts where I have to dump at least half my AR clip into an enemy before they go down, even at close range, but I seem to go down if an enemy so much as sneezes in my direction. These are the only two Call of Duty games where I have seen that happen, and I've been playing since WaW.

After 8 hours now with the beta. I can't fucking stand this game. I refuse to spend $100 just for MW:R. I will wait for standalone.

The maps are God awful, they have no flow to them. It's just a fuck fest everywhere. Snipers again feel garbage. TTK is so low that the addition of health bars is not needed and it something just so it feels different. The ultimate abilities and shit really need to go. They keep making shit more and more complicated for the sake of depth despite the fact that it's just a cover for an already lackluster system.....it's just worthless additions to make you feel like your different from other players.

Only positive part is that epic guns and shit can all be obtained without luck through a crafting system in the long run. Although having guns with special perks like AW just fucking pisses me off.

This game can burn and I will not be one of the dumbasses who pays $100 for a remastered game

I rank it in complete shit tier

Ghost>Advanced Warfare=Infinite Warfare

Also people are boosting and jumping a lot more now etta since the TTK is so low preemptively around corners.

I guess I stopped noticing that so much as time goes on. I read that it has to do with how frequently the game registers and sends information on getting hit, and that it's not frequently enough. A person shoots you 3 times, and the network sends them all at the same time instead of one after another. So you don't get the proper info to react to and it feels like you were melted in a single moment.

I didn't word it as eloquently, and I don't know if it's legitimate, but it made sense to me. It is annoying, though I don't have as much of an issue with it here (except when using shotguns or pistols) as with Ghosts.

Get this fucking Reaper at Level 12. So much fun!!!

BTW its getting better and better. Is it different from Black Ops 3? OH yes! And thats good. The Rigs are the Specialists from BO3 sure, but they offer more options.

And there are some crazy weapons in it...

For my taste, it runs better than BO3 who had some framerate dips in the gameplay. With IW nothing.

After reading a few impressions and watching some streams... all the hype is dead.

I hope they will sell MWR standalone real soon.

Net code is so fucked. I really hope IW is taking notes and that this is more than a marketing beta.

FWIW I didn't hate the hour or so I've actually managed to play. IW's MP is an afterthought in my mind when compared to the whole package (MW MP>SP>IW SP+ VR>IW MP) so if I manage to get 10-20 hours of OK out of it I'm fine.

Gotta fix the net code though.

Advanced Warfare MP must have been worse than I remember. The general consensus in this thread is that Ghosts was better and that game was truly awful to me.

Yeah I've been wishy washy whether to essentially give Activision a free pass for being scummy bundling MWR with IW but this beta has made me decide I won't. I too beat the MWR campaign (Veteran, nice and nade-spammy haha) and can wait awhile. Too many games this fall anyway

Yep, feel the same completely. Now to decide what to spend the IW Legacy money with :) thinking tomb raider, have BF1 on pre order so I'm good for a while on my FPS fix.

On a side not, as mentioned, turning off film grain makes the game looks much better. I'll never understand why film grain is still an option in 2016. Seriously, who wants that crap?

If that's true, I want to know why the fuck haven't they fixed it. I don't know what some people are smoking thinking that Ghosts had 'god-tier netcode', it was trash then, and it's trash now.

Just booted this up and can't find a TDM. Servers down or something?
Same problem, I think servers are down.

Is there a way to change soldier gender?
Seems like all combat rigs characters are males, that's kinda lame, because Black ops 3 had female specialists like Outrider and Battery.

Like these new combat rigs are boring as hell.
Combat rig 1: generic grey looking soldier
Combat rig 2: generic grey looking robot
and so on. They have no personality unlike Black ops 3 specialists.

I liked AW because of the speed, constantly being on the move worked in my favor. Ghost was a camp fest. My best matches came from holding down a piece of the map and stacking score streaks. I'm getting the same vibes for from Infinite Warfare.
