RpgN said:It's funny that there were people complaining about the lack of software on the wii last year, not knowing that it was to became far worse. There's nothing to look forward to except for Zelda, Xenoblade, new Kirby game, the Last Story and whatever new game they decide to announce on this year's E3. Zelda has been announced for quite a while and should have been released last year. There is absolutely no third party support to fill the void. As a multi console owner, I have more than enough games to keep me busy to the point that I haven't gotten around to games like Super Mario Galaxy and Sonic Colours yet. If you're a wii owner only, then I can't imagine how to go through that time.
Not sure why Nintendo does that and let it come this far. They're a big company and they can afford to open new devs studio if they want to, but I don't think that's the problem. They have unlocalized games waiting for them if they want to fill the void (in the US at least) yet they don't bother. It feels like being blind, arrogant and lazy to me. The excuse with focusing on 3DS or working on a next gen console is silly since they have a market to serve, what with being the consoler leader this gen. It doesn't feel like a console leader.

"Oh we also have this console that has sold a fuckton and still caters to all ages with titles like Wii Party and Wii Sports. Next up have some new graphs and shit about 3ds"

Alextended said:How about, no single company can populate an entire system by themselves so, as time goes on, the third party situation hurts them more and more?
Alextended said:How about, shit happens, games get cancelled, leading to gaps in what would otherwise have been a content filled period.
At least we now also have Xenoblade to look forward to.

Really? I feel exactly the opposite. They shoe almost finished versions of the game so you know almost exactly what you're gonna get from the moment you see it. I prefer the slow rollout of media and hearing about updated builds that are wowing people, etc. That's just more fun to me.ConradCervantes said:Which I love most about Nintendo. Sony and Microsoft can have their Gran Turismos and Alan Wakes. They'll be good, but ultimately they won't live up to the half decades of hype each game suffered from.
Meanwhile, the buildups for NSMB Wii and DKCR were great because you saw the games and went "HOLY SHIT I CAN PLAY THIS IN SIX MONTHS!!!"
Amir0x said:And no, Nintendo is massive and has tons of money. If they're having trouble covering a console and a handheld, it's time to expand. Simple as that. When you don't, it's your fault.
What happened when Sony decided to focus on PS3? Their PSP got ignored, and its sales got dramatically worse at the months went by until it died in the West entirely. This is what happens when you ignore something. It is entirely the fault of the console manufacturer when this happens.
Sony has like an infinity games in development, and they're in third place. It's not difficult for Nintendo to expand with the position they're in right now. They should be making more games, or at least releasing the games they already have in their stable in other territories.
Amir0x said:There is literally no chance Skyward Sword will be as catastrophically simple as, say, Phantom Hourglass.
The games are very easy these days, relative to some other adventure titles, but they generally are also able to overcome these shortcomings by their brilliant design in other areas. It's a quality only Zelda is able to pull off. Still, most of the best Zelda games are not 'easy' - they're simply average and we've gotten so good at them they feel easy. Phantom Hourglass was where it got insultingly easy.
Ickman3400 said:I never played PH but I did go through most of Spirit Tracks and I felt insulted by how easy it was (and a pain in the ass to control, wtf all touch controls?). I agree with you though they get easy due to familiarity over actual ease of the game.
Yes, that's what I said. I am one so I said we. Although I'd maybe bet that it will eventually see a US release also. We didn't exactly get a date and all the relevant details to start worrying yet. Maybe it's gonna be delayed in the US like Kirby was in EU. A bit too early to say one or the other way for sure. No, Europeans have Xenoblade to look forward to.
Is it? Did I say the release schedule is freaking awesome and I don't mind having almost no games to play on Wii? It sucks, but there are, most likely, some reasons for it.And this is also certainly a rainbow colored view of what's gone on.
Like what? Captain Rainbow? Takt of Magic? Shit wouldn't sell anyway. People would still complain and have no games to play, maybe 100k less would complain but with an install base of this many millions it's not exactly the way to fix the Wii's issues.Nintendo has many games in their stock that have simply not come over seas
Did I say something to oppose this? And no, Nintendo is massive and has tons of money.
Expansion doesn't happen overnight. If they're having trouble covering a console and a handheld, it's time to expand. Simple as that. When you don't, it's your fault.
I thought PSP sells pretty good, but software doesn't. Still, yes, that can happen and it's happening. Oh well. Maybe people speculating for the next home system are right. What happened when Sony decided to focus on PS3? Their PSP got ignored, and its sales got dramatically worse at the months went by until it died in the West entirely
Cool.Sony has like an infinity games in development, and they're in third place.

Buy Monster Games and Cing, or whatever company you like that they work with if you don't like those, the point is they have partners and have money, they can expand as a publisher without diluting internal Nintendo development culture. Also, release some fucking Japanese games on the Wii and DS.

The two games that may do decently enough or at least get some higher profile coverage to show the Wii still has some life in it are Xenoblade and The Last Story and with the former being localised I feel confident The Last Story will be too. Maybe we'll even see the Fatal Frame 2 remake, I imagine they won't come into the same issues as with 4 and for it to be worked on at all maybe there are no bad relations between Nintendo and Tecmo after all.
