Can someone recommend me some good gaming podcasts?

I check out 8-4 and Camp Spawn from time to time. I'm pretty sure the CS guys have no budget but they put some nice music in the background and they pulled me in with a Fallout tribute/homage.

Edit: Oh yeah. I also catch that "Nintendo Podcast for adults" sometimes, but they were eating on there last time which turned me right off. Till then it was decent.
 
Player One podcast is my favourite by quite some way. Great hosts who are really down to earth and relatable, funny and entertaining. Sounds a bit silly but you feel you are part of the conversation. All formats are discussed and the in jokes are funny. Bane voice and the Super Mario music always make me laugh.

Insert Credit is also extremely good and it's relatively new, only 14 episodes long and it has a unique take on things which helps keep it fresh and flowing. A question or topic is given by the host and then they discuss it for 6 minutes ( I think ) and when a buzzer goes, it's time for another topic. Then they have a quick fire questions round at the end. It's on iTunes by the way.

I was fine with you calling Giant Bomb rubbish, but then you mentioned CAGCast and finest in the same sentence. Sorry, but NO. The CAGCast is a glorified commercial, not to mention the worst podcast when it comes to pc gaming. In the last episode I listened Cheapy was getting a pc, so that might have changed since then.

Gamers with Jobs is a good podcast, but it will never be a great one. It is just too inconsistent. Some episodes are amazing, the rest are average.

The only two podcast that I listen on a regular basis are the Bombcast and Idle Thumbs, and the main reason I listen to them is because they don't talk about games 100% of the time. That was what made GFW "The Brodeo" the finest gaming podcast ever recorded. These podcasts are more about the culture that surrounds gaming, and having a good time. The bombcast show at PAX was a riot, almost standup comedy quality. CheapyD and Wobmat will never come close to the brilliance of Jeff Gerstman once he gets going.

Based on the above, you - and anyone who enjoys the more eager-to-tangent approach - *might* enjoy The Lunchcast. Its output is really sporadic nowadays but there's a good archive. A group of mid-20 to mid-30 office guys go on lunchbreak together and talk shit. Waitresses, vasectomies, strip joints, video games and lots of diner background noise. The recording conditions always make it a weird listen (seriously) but there's plenty of gold in there. Here's a pretty approachable (ie. not too audibly-fucked) episode celebrating five years of recorded bollocks.

me neither,they spend too much time talking about drinks,personal life and what they eat,i really only care about games,news,etc not their personal and boring as hell life
 
I feel like I've been subscribed to about 20 different gaming podcasts over the past 5 years or so, but all I can really listen to anymore is the Bombcast. 8-4 isn't terrible but I really don't care about the kinds of games they cover. Monster Hunter and JRPGs are both meh.

I haven't listened to a single gaming podcast since the Brodeo went under. No joke.

Even though it's off the air I would still completely recommend checking it out, especially if you like a good dose of humour in your podcasts. They even talk about games ocassionally.

I listen to a lot of the usual suspects, but I'll make a unique suggestion, its called "You Like the Worst Stuff". It's a few guys named Joe formerly of the Aeropause podcast, and a guy named Tony. They're not gaming centric, but they do talk about games quite a bit, along with music, TV, sports and generally whatever they do for entertainment. They're not huge and I think thats one of the reasons I like them.
 
Idle Thumbs and Giant Bombcast are the essentials.

I do irregularly listen to Gamers with Jobs and it's usually pretty good. And I'll listen to Weekend Confirmed when I've spent the rest of my podcast queue.

I just listened to the newest Three Moves Ahead and it was quite insightful, I'll probably tune in again.
 
The thing that's different about Idle Thumbs you have to keep in mind is it's not really something you download the latest episode of and get into. I strongly, strongly recommend you start from episode 1 (there are only 77 so far plus Podblast minisodes, and they run shorter than typical casts), and get caught up on over time. It's really awesome to peer back into the industry between 2007 and 2010 and get some new insight into games you may have already played or skipped.

Giant Bombcast is the second best podcast running I'd say, but if you're looking for really deep insight into games, you should probably just stick with Thumbs. Bombcast really captures that "group of your best friends just shootin' the shit" atmosphere, though, which is why people love it so much.

8-4 Play is fantastic as well, if you like Nintendo and other Japanese games. Even if you don't it's a good listen.
 
I like listening to 8-4, Giant Bombcast, WAHP, Retronauts (if no call ins) and Idle Thumbs like most other people.

Here are two podcasts I haven't seen mentioned.

EGM Game Over - Goes over gaming news of the week and then goes into some of the reviews that appear on their website and in the magazine. Shidoshi and Andrew Fitch are two of the regulars on the show.

Jumping the Shark - It's run by the people that used to be in charge of the Gameshark editorial website and now nohighscores.com. The hosts skew a little older in age. Occasionally features entertaining rants and guests like Tom Chick. Tends to focus more on strategy and board games, but they also cover the big games and some niche games.

- IGN Podcast Beyond (Playstation focused)

- 1up Retronauts (fascinating if you love game history)
- IGN Tech Fetish (interesting if you're a tech-head)
- IGN Podcast Unlocked (Xbox focused)
- Radio Free Nintendo
- IGN Knockin' Boots (Where the fuck has this gone IGN?!!!)

I listen to all of these when I'm cleaning the house. No need to limit yourself. Of course they all have there pros and cons but I recommend you give them all a chance.

There's a big different between PC indie and Starcraft 2. Even if you're a primarily console gamer you'd love the stuff going on in that scene.
 
What about the most english-friendly so you can ear in order to improve your english?

I'm checking 8-4 now do they talk about the most common games or are they more focused on less popular games? I would prefer the first option to be honest. Thanks in advance.

lol. They're completely dismissive of the Vita which means no discussion about vita games but I think people need to not get so ruffled when their opinion isn't mirrored. Also I think some of the hate for Brad is from people who just don't want to hear about PC games and act like it's an insult to talk about them.

He doesn't, he talks about games he likes all the time, he just has strong negative opinions sometimes (which I often don't agree with). I wouldn't say that most of the games discussion is negative unless the games discussed are bad (e.g. Homefront)
 
So I started listening to Idle Thumbs, and it really is great. Cheers for that guys.

I'll work my way through some of the others over the next week or so. Glad so many people responded.

I tried the first few episodes and gave up when I realized they are just release sniping stuff that will be out in the US within a few weeks / months.

I want to hear about import titles that are cool and not destined for localization.

Oh well.

Cruncheons is the only gaming podcast I listen to. Keep taking it to them guys! :D

Given the sheer amount of games that get released globally nowadays (compared to, say, the PS1 days when the phenomenon of the "import gem" was in full force), isn't this pool pretty damn small? Surely the majority of Japanese games that don't get internationally released are the ones in the JP box art thread covered with anime schoolgirls.

To be fair: Anything not "X-box 360," is generally ignored by GiantBomb. Brad championing the PC or not, all you need to see for their reviews is a strong majority of "X360" titles and headlines in those reviews than other copies.

They don't even bother to get a second opinion or a third opinion on other platforms or performance issues like Eurogamer does with Digital Foundry. I understand that may not be what they want to do, but I've noticed a STRONG 360-bias on GiantBomb and it's coverage at times.

That's entirely possible. I would need to pay more attention when I browse import sites. I generally filter out anything from Capcpom, anything that's an RPG, and anything grossly animu.

I need to go see if they reviewed Senran Kagura after I stopped listening. DO NOT SMELL MY STINK OF CONTRADICTION!

Actually a retro import game podcast would be pretty great too.

I'll always have Cruncheons to talk shit and troll, which is what I'm looking for in a podcast. :3
 
1UP Yours was the only podcast that ever managed to hold my attention, it was seriously one of the highlights of my week. All other podcasts just make me feel like I should be doing better things with my time.
