Can you play games laying down?

A lot of the time I game after a hard day's work and would love to lay down, but I just can't. My skills completely diminish. I'd really enjoy it if I could, though.

I wish I liked JRPGs...

What say ya gaf?

Edit: I'll go ahead and mention that handhelds aren't included. They're wonderful because they're almost meant to be played while laying around.

Deffinetly nothing competitively. Even single player console games I prefer to be sitting up for.

3DS or other handhelds however are perfect for playing while I am lying in bed.

I always try to find a comfortable way to lay down and play, but I never can for more than 5-10 mins. So I pretty much always sit up, or sometimes stand when playing fighting games.

But honestly, I used to do this in my old room, but only because the TV was wall mounted and in direct line of my bed. Meant I could lay back and not have my head placed awkwardly.

I know what you mean. I can play jrpgs and slow strategy games lying down no problem...but if I try to play anything faster paced my skills are significantly diminished laying down or even leaning back.

Shooters, Sports games, bullet hell shooters etc.

Yes all the time. Just throw enough pillows to create the right back and neck support behind me and it's fine.

Then it's not really laying down though.

There have been times late at night when I would lay facing my tv on my stomach and put 2 pillows under my head and kind of lay sideways. This was more of just a 'so exhaused I should probably be sleeping not gaming' position.

Even in my NES days as a kid...I could maybe lay down for the easy parts of a game, sit up for the more difficult parts...but I'd always be standing the fuck up for boss fights.

Ohhhh.. I play almost all my games laying down.. I almost allways play at night from my bed, when the rest of the family is sleeping (wife and kids).. I´m playing from me and my wifes bed, while she is sleeping right beside me..!
I play Modern Warfare, Final Fantasy, Skyrim and lots more.. all my gaming is done with me on my back from my bed. 37" LCD TV, PS3 and Sony´s official 7.1 Headset.. works like a charm.:!

No to both console and handheld games. I just can't game laying down.

Laying down with handhelds seems natural, but I can never find a comfortable way to hold it that doesn't tire my arms or my neck.

For me it depends on the orientation of the couch/bed to the TV.

If the couch/bed is perpendicular to the TV, it's no problem.
If the couch/bed is parallel, it doesn't work.

Back in college I had my TV on top of a dresser at the foot of my bed so I could easily lounge around and play games but no such luck anymore.

Lie down, TV on, Vita in my hands.

Awesome.

PS360? I don't even know it can be done without being uncomfortable.

I can't play on a bed at all. My back hurts from slouching if I am seated and I get sore real quick if I try to play prone. My skills diminish if I am playing laying on my back or propped up against some pillows.

I end up switching positions about 10 times in a 2 hour play period.

I have to play my games laying down.

Ok, it's technically an almost laying down position. My TV+Console are directly in front of my bed. However, the TV is not big enough that, laying down proper, it's hard to make out everything (it's a 42 inch where it should be a 55inch. 60, to tell you the truth).

So I put all my pillows in the middle of the bed, scootch over, feet dangle down in front of the bed and I'm somewhat laying down (my torso is higher than It would be if I were sleeping).

Pretty much the same as watching tv laying down.

I can't. Not for consoles or handhelds. I try playing on my stomach but my arms tire after an hour of trying to hold myself up by my elbows.

Was in a car accident a few years ago with a terribly broken leg and I was in bed due to surgery to fix that leg for like 4 months. So yeah, I played a hell of a lot of video games in bed.

Depends. I mostly do but I really suck at competitive games if I'm laying down and too relaxed, so I have to sit up for something like COD.

Adventure games on consoles are great when lying on the couch, and even though handhelds are not included I have to mention that nothing beats playing the Etrian Oddysey series in the bathtub. Before someone asks: yes, my launch DS Lite still works perfectly.

Majority of the time spent on Metroid Prime 3 was lying down.

Made me chuckle at the "waggle is so hard!" crowd.

I was just talking with a friend about this the other day. It blows my mind that people can play action, shooters, sports or other fast paced games laying down. A friend once told me he played Socom online laying down, me, I am on the edge of my seat with my heart pounding trying to survive and win the round. Lol

The one exception is rpgs for me, those have a more relaxed story telling pace and laying down while grinding levels is just more comfortable.

I can, well usually traditional turn based menu based RPGs and some racers. But often when the action gets intense, then I usually sit up. Laying down is only convenient when I get like withing three feet of the tv or less. Often I just sit up cause I like to be quite close to the tv.
