Canceled - Nintendo Games

There was a Diddy Kong Racing 2 in development at some point? I can't remember hearing that. We got the terrible Mickey racer and the cancelled Donkey Kong Racing, but if there was a Diddy 2 then it passed me by.

I'm really hoping we'll finally get that Kirby Tilt'n'Tumble game on the Wii as it's obviously perfect for it. There is a Kirby game announced for the Wii and everyone's expecting it to be a port of the GC platformer, but I hope not.

How could I forget? :(

Mario 128 :(
That game where you could take a picture of yourself be a character in a Nintendo world
Zelda OOT was originally going to be a fully 3D remake of the very first Zelda.
Mario 128 - Was never supposed to be, Miyamoto said that was just the name of the project to pick ideas for Mario Sunshine and all of the other mario games.
Stage Debut - Mii Channel.

Stage Debut, Roll-O-Rama, Meowth's Party, Kirby Tilt N' Tumble, Jungle Emperor Leo, Sound Fantasy, Stage Debut, G-Racers, Star Fox 2, Virtual Mario Land are the big EAD games i remember being canceled.

There was this game called Giftpia and also a superstar Mario game kareoke style or something...

Giftpia was released in Japan, and I believe work was begun on a western conversion, but it disappeared without a trace. At least we got Chibi Robo!.

Final Fantasy on N64

I remember how the German Club Nintendo magazine bragged about how excited the Squaresoft guys were to work on the new hardware :lol

Nintendo had it at either E3 05 or 04 and they didn't like the responce it got from the tiny little booth in the corner they had set up for it.

Fire Emblem 64
Earthbound 64
64 Wars
Resident Evil Gaiden
Resident Evil 0

Dead or Alive 64

...man, N64 had more canceled JP games than almost any other platform. :/

-Resident Evil Gaiden (which was not named that..just that it was a Resident Evil kind of game but with samurais/ninjas) became Onimusha on the PlayStation...then moved/released to the PlayStation 2. (Resident Evil Gaiden per se is on the Game Boy Color).

-Resident Evil 0 was moved and released to the GameCube.

No, it's...
We ridin' spinnaz
We ridin' spinnaz
They don't stop

Also, Eternal Darkness on the N64 didn't look much different from what it became on the GC.

Final Fantasy VI 64 (take 2)

Before someone says "that was just a SGI demo, not for Nintendo", wouldn't the best reason to be making an SGI demo be for the SGI-development-system-powered N64? :)

As for another one... I didn't see Viewpoint 64 mentioned here. The original Viewpoint was so awesome, it's too bad Viewpoint 64 was never released...

IIRC, Onimusha started as a N64 title...

I remember being so hyped when I saw the first screens for this game in Gamefan IIRC.

This game going to PS1 was the single big turning point early on in Japan.

Nintendo admitted that this was a huge loss for them.

Even though Yamauchi downplayed it.

So anyone want to make a list of all games mentioned?

Oh, and three notes:

Metroid Dread - not (necessarily) cancelled
Super Paper Mario - not cancelled
Kirby - not cancelled

Return of Donkey Kong was supposed to be a followup to DK, DK Jr., and DK III.

Cabbage = Animal Crossing. Please tell me you knew that and were being sarcastic.
Source? I thought Cabbage was a virtual pet game.

Just searching for info myself, I find this interview with Animal Crossing man Katsuya Eguchi.
Wired News: Was this any relation to the unreleased 64DD game "Cabbage"?

Katsuya Eguchi: I've heard of that, but I'm not really sure what it's about.

It started as a N64 Resident Evil title (though still set in feudal Japan)... the brand change didn't happen until PS1.

Some work from GNG64 might've been transfered to Maximo (which was originally a Dreamcast game, then got moved to PS2).
