Capcom: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies hitting the West [Digital Only Confirmed]

As a digital release I might value it at $10, but as a physical release I'd be willing to pay the regular $30, though I'd prefer lower of course. Having something you can take with you, lend, play on different systems, and have on your shelf is quite important. A digital release is akin to an extended rental that will be an inconvenience if I buy a different/upgraded system later on.

I'm sure drug addicts win by buying their fix that they'll enjoy using, too.

Seriously? You are comparing substances and addictions that can kill a person to a game being tied to a system instead of an account?

Gaming. Serious business.

Digital only? Not buying.

Not because of Nintendos policies (which is definitely one of the reasons), but because I like physically owning full scale $40+ games.

Capcom is very receptive to fans in these cases (they have an Ask Capcom forum for god sake), maybe people should make an outcry for a tiny print run, what harm could that do?

Yea lets do this. It worked with Megaman.

Digital only means no one will ever actually own this game, Nintendo.

You mean Capcom, and you are wrong and seemingly haven't been paying attention. People are indeed buying digital titles on 3DS. If you don't want to, the door is over there...

This is good news. Very easily could not have gotten it at all.

Oh no! Our niche franchise whose sales tanked so bad we didn't even GET the last game is going to be DD only!

We are lucky to even get this game.

Anyone who bitches about a game being localized and brought to the west in English in the 2013 and is a fan of Japanese gaming is an utter fool. Do you realize the situation we are in regards to English translations? And you're bitching it's DD only?

Did you even read Capcom's explanation? There's no reason why they couldn't do a small print for this.

Damn, that's some grade A corporate apologizism right there.

We are "lucky" to have a chance to purchase a product. Give me a break.

If they truely cared they wouldn't be half assing it in the first place.

I realize the situation we're in, which is why I'll support the game regardless of the 'dangers' of downloading a digital game in 2013. :P

You are ridiculous.

YES AA5 english release!!

Wait...people complaining? Uh...well I guess I can understand some folks wanting a limited print run, but Capcom spending the time on that seems about as likely as the whole "Nintendo should have bought Ouya" argument. The best approach here would seemingly be to support the digital release and hope that gets a print version made later.

The worst case scenario here is that the addict ODs or whatever, of course, but in the case of AA5 the worst case scenario is the digital sales of the game increasing by one.

It's a good thing for me and for digital distribution that not everybody wants to play this game as much as I do, I guess.

See for all the hate Capcom gets, *I* wouldn't give a cent to support Victor Ireland. Especially when you consider Class of Heroes 2 was a roundly panned game from a series that has absolutely no esteem in Japan or anywhere else really.

From most accounts, Class of Heroes 2 isn't a very good game, and Vic obviously has to focus on the good things (improvements over the original game, specifically) to try and artificially create demand, but supporting him is more about what he might be able to accomplish in the future. If other Japanese devs see Vic successfully market a game like CoH2, they might be less hesitant to allow him to work with their IP's.

Going through too many emotions right now

First, deshvsjsjahabsan YESSSS THIS YEAR!! 3DS FOR ME CONFIRMED WHEN ITS FALL.

Secondly, oh HELL no just digital. If this is not in my hands I will have a breakdown.

Lastly, NOT loving that new Phoenix voiceover. Why did they change it :(... I like that Athena has a voice over though :)

Overall... GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE

Can't believe so many people are defending Capcom's shitty decisions and eating up Nintendo's digital system from hell.

How many time has this happened on the 3DS so far in North America?

Having "principles" about a digital video game store. That's bravery right there. Do you realize how childishly vitriolic and self-serious you're being?

Yes, principles that can make things better for gamers/consumers as a whole in the digital future we're in is truly worthy of ridicule and contempt. Let's all just join the herd and give them whatever they want.

Yeah, I'm buying this because it may make Capcom pull the trigger on AAI2. Even if its digital only I'll still get it. I would like to give Nintendo the benefit of a doubt that they'll implement a better digital system eventually.

You're right, they don't care. And since you play video games too, you're supporting a bunch of corporations that could give a shit about you as well. We're in this together!

Great that it's being localised but I'm quite shocked that it's digital only. I thought Ace Attorney was quite successful on the DS?

Capcom gonna Capcom, I guess.

You know, regardless of what some people here think of Nintendo's DD service, I'm picturing the Internet when this game is up for download on eShop.

It's going to be one memorable midnight.

IIRC Nirolak mentioned in a different thread that the smallest print possible is 50k so it's definitely feasible. I would be on it like a starved hooker.

I don't mind if they decide on a small print in 2014. I really dont. As long as I can get a single physical copy, I'd die a happy man.

Oh well, will buy, happy birthday SMT. :D

Didn't Ghost Trick do lesser than expected numbers? I don't know how well the iOS versions sold but hopefully Takumi gets some leeway on his next project.

Don't do this to me Capcom. Or at least port it to Vita or something.

Absolutely. Which is why you shouldn't support practices which further reward apathy where it counts.

Also heads up, people: mainline Ace Attorney games so freaking fine here. They had overblown expectations for AAI, but that didn't bomb as hard as they're claiming.

They're just trying to maximize their profit here. Straight up.

I'm grateful that Capcom is bringing it over. Given the circumstances, this was probably the only profitable path for them. I still plan on buying the game as much as I'd like to own a physical copy.

I moreso have a problem with it being a full fledged digital only game on a platform that has a pretty archaic system when it comes to digital purchases, at least compared to other platforms. I think complaining about that is definitely warranted, at the very least.

1-Crimson Shroud was probably the only game that was worthwhile on the Guild 01 package
2- No one really cared about Guild01
3- Guild 01 didn't have 5 previous entries in the series that had a retail release
And 4- Guild 01 was practically a collection of DD games as it is, as in games with the kind of budget and length you would probably see in an XBLA or PSN game. Made plenty of sense to go DD with those, even Guild 02's skipping retail globally.
How many time has this happened on the 3DS so far in North America?
None far as I know, and I suspect most retailers are VERY cold on taking later physical releases unless the games end up being mega hits or it's in the form of a collection. Of which neither will apply here unless they get AAI2 upported and localized, and there may not be space on the cart for both anyway.

Yea lets do this. It worked with Megaman.

Well this will have better odds than reviving a canned game, it's not going to cost Capcom millions to do. :P

As much as I wish we were still getting Legends 3. :(

Uh, okay, put away this over-serious sheeple/consumer rights/not buying a game is activism nonsense. You know Nintendo is working on the account system maybe? Wait till then, or if it doesn't happen, pat yourself on the back because you saved the digital future by not buying a fucking video game.
