Btw. the "justification" of Capcom was already posted, but I haven't seen this last passage:
The bold sentence hints at lower than your usual 40$ price, I guess.
It's only to make things more ironic when it ends up being priced at $40.

If this is true then I'd be a little bit happier.
...A little.
oh who the fuck am I kidding DAY FUCKING ONE AS USUAL
Actually, many original 3DS' will probably get damaged because it scratches itself. :>I don't exactly defend it. It's of course worse than just having an account system. But come on, it's not like every other 3DS will get lost or damaged. These are very rare scenarios, probably as rare as losing all your cartridges.
It also seems like a strange scenario to sell your 3DS just to rebuy it again months later.
Tell me how to lend a 3DS e-shop game without lending the 3DS.I usually lol at the whole entitled gamer thing... but this thread makes me a believer.
I have nothing against people that are for picking up this on sale... but people that are ignoring it completely based off the principle that there is no account system or you can't smell the boxart?
dling 1 game on your 3ds isn't gonna make the 3ds slip out of your hand and land in the backpack of a bankrobber.
Maybe this logic just isn't clicking with me somehow... dont know. Or am I in the minority where I bought a few eshop games and my 3ds hasn't been stolen or fell in the toilet or something?
This is a point I've raised in some other digital-only threads. The terminology needs to change. "Buy" has implications of certain rights of ownership. If I'm merely licensing the game, make that clear and don't use the word "buy".
So true.Fun fact is that if Capcom announced it's Japan only, everyone here would beg for an eShop release.

Are there seriously people who would rather this game not exist for the sole reason that it is digital only?

Sorry, no. A retail release would necessitate changes to code, another QA pass, a seperate submission to NOA/NCL, 45 days of manufacturing/shipping time and significant physical COGs that would require pricing that is different than what we will be doing.
And it is still an exciting announcement that the latest AA game is coming Westward and doing so in a "timely fashion" relative to its Japanese release.

The current DD system for 3DS\WiiU is awful.
That said, it hasn't stopped me from going all-digital on both systems.
Day 1!#YOLO

or that it will be episodic.
I'm amazed at the number of people who are pissed about this but they're already pulling down their pants and bending over to buy the game anyway. It's more bothersome to me that there are people who just take it as if there is no choice and then wonder why there are so many bad practices when it comes to digital and online content. You have a choice, you just choose to give the companies all the power.
And this is why these types of things rarely change. If it's 'awful', don't support it. I didn't like Gamestop selling opened games as new, but instead of complaining every time I went there, I went out of my way to take my business elsewhere.
I want to play AA5, it's one of my favorite series. However, I will not buy the game digitally. If I don't get to play it, so be it.

1. Yes, you can.I can't lend my steam games, or basically any other digital service games?
hmmmm last game i've ever borrowed from someone was everything or nothing on gamecube (still have it lol).
Just lend your friend/family your 3ds... or if that isn't possible... early/late christmas/bday gift?
Guess that's too bad for AA6.You also gotta pick your fights. I'm all for fighting the man, but boycotting AA5 won't do jack shit besides lowering the chance of AA6 coming to the west.
Actually, you could give your friends you log in data.I can't lend my steam games, or basically any other digital service games?

I did not expect the level of angst over digital only to be this high in 2013.

Digital only isn't so bad if it means Capcpom can actually release the games we crave.

Maybe I am? idk. Those basic rights are nice, but in the end this is all about the game right? If I must have to deal with a shitty digital platform to play a game I want... then I'll usually bite. How is this different from you going through loopholes to get certain music games on ios? You're calling out people who just want basic rights every other digital platform on the planet provides entitled? Really?
Actually, you could give your friends you log in data.

It's just you. While the games are technically kinda episodic in nature, they're still released bundled together, and I see no reason why this would be any different. So is it just me that thinks this will be episodic? Or are we just going to whine about Nintendo's account system?
Or are we just going to whine about Nintendo's account system?
Makes me wish someone had made a thread asking "Would you buy AA5 if it was digital only?" before this announcement.
people actually do that? All my friends that wouldn't want to pay for a game already got the game in other shady ways instead...
I REALLY hope he put his last million dollars on that game.Forget the fact this is eShop only. That doesn't bother me in the slightest.
WHERE IS LAYTON X ACE ATTORNEY?!
