Capcom: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies hitting the West [Digital Only Confirmed]

I see it being around $29.99. Similar to Project X Zone, except, ya know, without the physical release. Wait, I forgot this is Capcom......

$39.99 + DLC ($9.99 each)...
If they make it $30, and release new cases (how long did the cases normally last?) for $7, I'll be happy, I think it would be a good price.

If they break it into episodes, I think I'll be officially done with buying Capcom games (other than this series, just because I want to support it as much as I can.)
I don't know why people are like this. The other games in the series have 1 starting case plus another 4, I think? One good way to release them would be give the very first one free and then release the other 4 for some money. You would be still be paying the same amount.

Well, to be fair, there were some games that couldn't be transferred to a 3DS or WiiU either. ;)
Earthworm Jim was made available later. There was apparently a copyright hurdle at the time.

Asphalt, Flipnote, Let's Golf, and Oregon Trail got updated versions on 3DS, although they were separate purchases.

DSi Browser is kinda obvious.

Real Soccer... not sure. Not that the games were that great.

Sudoku has plenty of other choices, so no big deal.

Episodic release is another problem, I'll buy it only once all episodes will be released if so.
And still rigorously under the maximum price point I decided on: €20.

I really hope it doesn't come to this.

This really blows.

If they're really concerned about putting the game on retail shelves, then they should have at least made it a GameStop/EB Games exclusive, like Xenoblade was (no matter how bad that sounds).

If you don't care about what others perceive to be basic rights, that's your prerogative. Openly insulting people with viewpoints other than yours is not acceptable.

Anything I might have done re: iOS is still tied to an iTunes account. I have receipts for everything and can redownload at will. What does that have to do with anything?

I'm just saying that people go over hurdles to play games all the time. The lack of certain 'rights' sucks but the basic concept of buying a game and playing it is not that different from getting it retail. It's not like it being digital only turned it into an iap filled f2p game.

If I have to use the shitty eshop to play a game I want than so be it, like how you have to go through the hurdle of creating a jp itunes account and use yen or a capitalone card or something to buy music games (which is a better deal due to the account systems i agree).

People make compromises these days to enjoy the every niche japanese games. I just find it weird that the 'line drawn' for some people is the eshop.

btw: can you redownload purchased games on the same 3ds?

What if they decide to stop releasing them halfway?
This could happen for a number of reasons, for example first chapters not selling well enough according to Capcom or sudden legal/licensing troubles.

I had my share of incomplete manga series due to publishers dropping them halfway for whatever reason, I'm not taking that risk anymore.

Nice. Time to buy a 3DS, I guess.

I'm amused by all the "OMG! I'm NOT buying this if it's digital!" angst. Digital release is better than no release. Digital allows niche titles like this to actually be released. (Yes, it is a niche title.)

The real bummer is not getting those sweet Collector's Edition goodies.

That Phoenix Wright figure needs to be in my life NOW.

Didn't think about that. I can see now why most of the people don't want the game to be released on episodes.

Neogaf Or: How I stopped Worrying and Learned to Love the Eshop

I love me some digital releases. So damn convenient just opening up my XL and having a list of games to play without needing to fiddle with cartridges

Online only...now then, will it be £39.99 in the UK eShop? I like Ace Attorney but my ceiling is more around the £25 mark for it.

Wait a sec...Dual Destinies...nicely plaid Capcom...
its a DD title, right? *groan*

I actually prefer digital.

I don't want to be running from GameStop to GameStop trying to get a gutted (used) copy of the game.

At least only digital means that there will be no short supply and the earnings might be enough to get us the next game in the series (also digital).

It will also make people who wanna play it, buy it and play it. Not just buy it and store it without opening it to scalp someone in 3 months.

Well IF Capcom USA/Europe wanted to... there's nothing to stop them selling a bundle of those goodies with a digital download code/card (although they probably won't).

They want to reach out to everyone so at best we'll probably get a 3D image of the figure on the eShop.

In typical Capcpom fasion, I expect them to announce a physical collectors edition AFTER the DD version has already been on sale for a month or two. Gotta get the fans to double dip.

... Fuck, I'm starting to think that after Telltale's games (especially The Walking Dead) Capcom now wants to try the same with Phoenix Wright. Well, it at least makes sense for that setup specifically and it probably WILL help for a physical release eventually (he says all of that stuff, yet each Telltale game hits retail in a compiled form anyway), but that actually bugs me more. I'd rather just get it all together.

If this even stands the chance of being a telltale type situation than I am clearly waiting for a retail release. Either way I buy this full price physical or on sale digital. Not having a physical release really sucks.

You know...I know people are against this and all, but here's a case where I wish companies could take a kickstarter approach.

For physical copies of AAI2 and this, imagine: Capcom sets up their own kickstarter structure with a funding amount they think is reasonable for a limited print run + translation. We as fans can overpay to make sure it happens. Rather than having no recourse (for AAI2 and possibly PW vs Layton) but to learn Japanese. I know I'd drop $100 easy for either of these games.

You can't double dip when you never owned the game to begin with. Capcom is brilliant at times.

Exactly

At least give fans the opportunity to vote with their wallet. :(

I'd drop money on this in a heart beat.

mh judging by other eshop only "retail game" releases in europe, I hope this will be priced similarly low (under 30€).

this thread is kinda funny though. it seems an account system is the best placebo ever invented.
(hint: in reality, an account doesn't protect you from anything)
