Capcom announces LOST PLANET 2 (360) - shock&awe imminent

Diablohead said:
At no point in the PR do they say exclusive, only that it's being made on 360.
Its actually been made on the PC and then ported over to the 360 so I was hoping for a PC port at least.
Ah well, there will be other games to play until then. If either Diablo II or SC2 were to launch anywhere
this year, am sure I'd forget all about this.

Anybody have the sales numbers for Lost Planet 1 handy(including both the PC/PS3 ports and Colonies)?

2.2 million seems a bit high...

From their financials:

Lost Planet 2 a 360 Exclusive?
PS3 and PC left out in the cold.

UK, February 25, 2009 - Capcom has sent out official confirmation of Lost Planet 2 – detailing that the game's being developed for Xbox 360 and with no mention of versions for either the PC or PS3.

First word of Lost Planet 2 came in a lengthy video that debuted exclusively on Xbox LIVE, with the game's producer Jun Takeuchi revealing that the game will be taking place some 10 years after the original. The official statement released today confirmed that the game will introduce four player co-op, with the main campaign interweaving the stories of 'customised space pirates'.

Capcom declined to comment on whether the game was coming to PC or PS3 when asked by IGN, but reiterated that the game has thus far been announced for Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 only.

You can bet it's timed. Bioshock redux all over again.

Yup, that's what it looks like to me as well. Pitiful effort from Microsoft, I don't know who they're trying to fool. They should start investing in real exclusives, rather than buying so much marketing for exclusive DLC and fake exclusivity, it's really starting to get on my nerves.

yeah, if so that's just a waste of money. kind of like Assassin'c Creed. what was the point?

AC was being shopped to Sony as an exclusive, they didn't bite, so it ended up day and date on both platforms.

Bioshock (and really, Lost Planet 1) is the more fitting analogy here. Exclusive announcement, 6mo-1year exclusivity window so the majority of systems it pushes, if any, will be on the 360 side.

Consumers want to know what you are going to do for them now, not a year or two later. Remember last gen, when Xbox would finally get the latest GTA game but nobody would care?

lol, i was just saying that jokingly because FFChris painted MS as 'pitiful' for doing what seemed to be the same thing Sony did with Assassin's Creed. but apparently it wasn't Sony's doing. i always assumed Sony had an early marketing exclusivity deal for AC. my mistake.

Most of us predicted that this would happen anyway, but Capcom have today officially confirmed Lost Planet 2 as an Xbox 360 exclusive. No chance for the PS3 to get a port then, which is what happened with the first title.

As reported from VG247, An official press release from Capcom has just been given which contains a lot more details about the upcoming game.

A statement from Capcom reads, “Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Lost Planet 2 is being developed for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, following an exclusive announcement on Xbox LIVE that happened Monday, February 23,”.

but is the game exclusive? i see from the PR that the announcement was exclusive to XBL but that's still some funny wording.

Um...there was a PS3 port. Not that great of a port, and very late, but it was still ported.

Bioshock 2 was exclusively announced on PS3 Bioshock 1. Doesnt make it an exclusive game. Either way it looks good hopefully it will make it to PC /PS3

I really really can't see this being exclusive. Timed exclusive, maybe, but Capcom has spent the money to get Framework running on the PS3 already.

From a quick google search, that quote is days old and has been removed from the original source. Not counting the fact that the PS3 did get a port of Lost Planet 1.

what I don't understand is why Lp2 would be exclusive, or timed, when dead rising 2 isn't?
Don't worry. We all know that Dead Rising 3, the true sequel to Dead Rising deveoped by Capcom and staring Frank West, will be exclusive for X360 for forever.

Mods on Capcom boards refuse to listen and locked any speculation thread.

Right now, we're not talking about what systems Lost Planet 2 will be on.

Has everyone already forgotten that Capcom said they were making all games multi-platform? Does that mean Lost Planet 2 will be on the PS3? I don't know, but neither do you. I really don't see why it wouldn't be; but like I said, we don't know. Why doesn't everyone just wait for an official announcement before getting upset and posting the same thing over and over?

Are they kidding us? More official than an official Press Statement? o.O

Not official enough it would seem. :lol

Like we haven't been in this circumstance before. I remember all the speculation for Bioshock PS3. I said no earlier than 6 months and it was more like 13. Capcom reps can deny it until they are blue in the face just like the Take Two reps did for so long, but they aren't going to quit asking, haha. I'll say again here 6 month window no less.

The PR is for the EXCLUSIVE announcement of a NOT exclusive game (it seems).

If the game were announced as a exclusive the PR would say
"Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Lost Planet 2 is being developed EXCLUSIVELY for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, following an exclusive announcement on Xbox LIVE that happened Monday, February 23,”."

And not
"Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Lost Planet 2 is being developed for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, following an exclusive announcement on Xbox LIVE that happened Monday, February 23,”."

Yet they will not even acknowledge the existence of other platforms in development in the PR or when asked specifically. They have zero reason to do this outside of a timed deal. No we haven't been here before have we. I mean seriously.

Thank you, we all know that the game is coming to PS3, probably at the same time as the 360 but at the most it will be a timed exclusive.

Jtyettis said:
They may announce an actual release date at that time and reiterate what they have stated here yes.
Wait, isn't this been developed on PC then porter for the 360 ?
Then why can't we have a simultaneous PC/360 launch ? Surely, it isn't that hard ?

....watch Capcom come out and bitch when PC gamers pirate the living hell out of this game because of shit like this

this game would be pirated with timed exclusivity or not, surely you're not suggesting that if the exclusivity was not the case that more people would buy the game

If the game is gonna take awhlie getting here, I hope they continue the LP tradition of relesing kick ass demos.

Another demo at E3 would be pretty kick ass. Although not sure they could get that out at 40% done now, maybe.

Nope. Am just saying it will be even higher if its timed. Just saying.

Yes, there's some kind of deal in place. Inafune hinted at it in the Famitsu interview but that doesn't change the fact that if the game was an exclusive they would put it in the PR and wouldn't be saying "Right now, we're not talking about what systems Lost Planet 2 will be on." in the forums.

It's just that this is pretty weird announcement.

But yeah, enough with the exclusive/not exclusive talk. This is announced as a 360 game and looks awesome.

Well whatever they had going on in that trailer seemed playable enough. Let's have that as a demo!

fucking agreed! the last demo kicked so much ass.

Lol suddenly people fighting over who loves LP more. After that PR release i now await the usual replies of "I didn't want it anyway" from the usual suspects.

Like most people have said it looks like it's going to be timed at least but that's all you need really a 6 month timed exclusive is devastating no matter how you look at it.

Those screens look delicious by the way.:D

To think that development of Lost Planet started on PS2.

Anyway, maybe Capcom should change their name to Portcom.

Capcom: "Monster Hunter 3-Tri for Wii!
Guy: "Wow, Monster Hunter Tri for Wii!"
Inafune: "Yeah, we're working on another Monster Hunter for PSP!"
Guy: "Something new?"
Takeuchi: "lol"

Capcom: "Lost Planet 2 exclusive announcement on Xbox Live!"
Guy: "So it's Xbox 360 exclusive?"
Takeuchi: "lol rofl lmao"

I can't believe this actually looks good, considering the first one sucked soooooo bad.

Then again, the first one looked good too. I'm not getting my hopes up.

kazuma_pt said:
what's with the reactions?
it's obvious this is some kind of timed exclusive, they can't mention other platforms as it's part of the deal. the press release doesn't mention exclusivity anywhere.

Yep.

Awesome looking screens also, although they don't do the game justice imo. Motion blur and animation really set it off right.
