Just read on a Japanese blog that the game will be less difficult than UC... it's going for a simple feel.

The Wii Fit crowd will be pleased.
Oh, come on...

I hope they at least have multiple difficulty settings.

Even compared to most arcade shooters UC1 felt rather shallow.
I wonder how much further they could take it.

Maybe this time they'll just throw out the aiming.

It says the controls are being simplified, but how much more simple can you get from POINT AND SHOOT honestly...

The reticule looks a bit different from UC as well. I have a feeling this may be QTE related.

Thank God for that. I was starting to get overwhelmed by all the deep and complex original software on my Wii.

At some point, people are going to realize that like movies, games are to a large extend driven by what the developers want to make. Sure, the company has to make money continuously or they won't be able to fund development any longer, but like Hollywood Studios, it's not unusual for game publishers to spend a TON on big budget movies that certain directors want to make and attach really big names to them, even if it might not break even domestically. The studios are then well funded throughout the year by many small lower budget movies that turn a healthy profit.

That's basically what I'm seeing game development becoming. Many of the people within major developers that can call the shots want to push themselves to make bigger and better looking games. It will cost money, and it will likely not make the MOST amount of money possible for the company. But it will get them praise and respect if they succeed. So publishers have no qualms about milking stuff on other more casual platforms to get as much money as possible to support such projects. If these big budget projects BOMB, then it's a big problem, but if they do relatively well enough it's not a problem at all.

Cue interview with Inafune who talks about making the game development process more like the movie-making process.

Really... They are acting like UC had the controls of Metal Gear Solid 4. :/

I have a feeling this is going to piss me off. I was praying for an Umbrella Chronicles sequel but this doesn't sound anything like it.

Learn what? That they sold over a million copies of UC? Maybe it's not Capcom that needs to learn, but people like you.... :)

Now imagine if they made an actual installment of RE for Wii from the ground up (i.e. not a watered down port ala Dead Rising:CTYD).

RE:UC was a quick and dirty cash in. I expected a sequel in this vein. But to tease this like RE:UC2 is supposed to be on par with RE5 for the system owners is pretty stupid.

I fully understand Capcom is all about making money but this generation compared to last it's kind of pathetic. Would you agree or disagree with the fact that Capcom's projects this generation aren't up to snuff with the games they made last generation?

Capcom reps saying that fans of both CVX and RE2 will be happy means that this game is going to be Umbrella Chronicles 2. Expect it, people.

I repeat, all sign point very, very heavily to Umbrella Chronicles 2. Lower your expectations guys, or be disappointed.

im calling it now

dark side chronicles will tank

call me crazy

a) too many rail shooters

b) i think most people that bought UC were disappointed with it

Only if you're talking about Capcom's Nintendo offerings, with the exception of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom.

Not to take away your moment of pride (and not to disrespect others), but you had to literally be inept to expect anything else. :P
too late, you've ruined it.

Crazy. Ban bet?

Nah, I'm just kidding, but I think that pretty much anything on the Wii with Resident Evil slapped on the cover will sell.

Takes development effort, see above on why no one at Capcom might be interested.

I don't think anyone expected anything on par with RE5. Where's this idea coming from?

Considering the last generation was the PS2, I would say no major developer has been up to snuff with the games they made last generation. I'm not sure how Capcom making a new RE ground up for the Wii would change that either. It's not like they DIDN'T make RE5 and are only making spinoffs and ports. I guess it just boils down to the sequel being on a platform you don't own? :P

and get rid of aiming. Make it so you only have to press a at the right time to kill. Like a qte fest.
Instead of a disc inside the case, it's just going to be a note that says "You're a winner!"

why bother teasing people who follow gaming press when you are just going to announce a game not for said people?

Because their job is to promote their products. Said comments did a good job.

Seems pretty futile when most people don't want the game that ends up being announced.

Oh Gawd don't let Link see this.

ban bet? YOUR ON.

what are the stakes? 40 minutes? 80!?!?

Wasn't it just being teased at by Capcom moderators on the Capcom forums? It's not like they issued a press release saying "A MAJOR RESIDENT EVIL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE WII COMING SOON" or anything. The crowd that hang around at company forums are all fanboys anyway. They suck the news up and spread it everywhere hyping other people up. That's the point. It's free pre-marketing. :P

I only administer ban bets that are perm.

So it's definitely for Wii? And it's a new game? Not a port?

No, but they'll likely be reusing the assets from the Raccoon city chapter in the first Umbrella Chronicles, as well as enemies, and weapons, and.... hell, considering the setting the only thing they really need to do is move some text around and make some new cg.

well, hopefully the crew learned how to make a good game since REUC. RE2 is my favorite classic RE, so I'll probably pick this up either way just for the fan service value.

I mean I have some worries but I'm definitely buying it. I loved Umbrella Chronicles, it was fun and had a ton of replay value.

It can use improvements, but overall, UC was good.

It's just that it's biggest fault is not being RE4. I think people here would get over the Cavia and RE2/CV retreat bits if it just played like RE4.

Why people can't just play RE5, I don't know why. People can accuse the controls of being inferior, but it's not like RE5 didn't advance the traditional aiming controls either.
