Yeah. I remember my first time facing a Great Jaggi... thing was wiping the floor with my Great Sword swinging ass.
I start on MHFU so I totally see what you mean I couldn't do shit with a greatsword.
I followed the tutorials and ended up with sword+shield like a scrub -_-.
When Tri came out I didn't do the same mistake and tried to drop the GS already and really push it in.
It's a better handheld experience I feel so I didn't get far (that and I didn't understand how traps worked, massive disadvantage here).
Now I get it and my longsword can capture Great Jaggis and Qurupeco like nothing!
And the first time fighting Devil Jho or Lagiacrus... the game is just outright amazing, and honestly in terms of Gameplay, depth and systems unsurpassed. That's why I simply don't understand the claims for a true next gen version, when the core of what MH is, is already being massively overhauled with MH4.
I never truly understood MH without playing it so I guess I'll get to understand the overhaul in time. But just climbing and jumping change everything in how it would play. It's not a game that can be played like Skyrim or the usual rpg.
If you try to play it that way, the game WILL break you. I guess that's why people want a next gen version or something : they don't understand shit of what IS MH.
The window dressing is nice and all but the meat is unlike anything else.
If anything a change into open world would drasticly change the way it is played for little gains.
But it is so exhausting reading through all the blatant port begging, the whining and claims about MH4 not being a worthy sequel because of peoples buyers remorse.
Imagine if they'd call that one MHP4 then...
And we danced that dance before when MHTri went to Wii or with DQIX...
Funny thing no one pushed that kind of shit when FF7 or DQVII came though
Thing is, if the game would come out soon in Europe, I'd simply stay away from MH4 topics, and enjoy the game when it comes out, but given how long we're probably have to wait for a localization I just keep coming back again and again. Hopefully once the game is out, discussion will finally shift to the actual game instead of what it means for peoples platform of choice.
It's usually better to do that.
The MH3U topics weren't so stupid though, it's too bad we can have that in MH4 threads...
I hope they'll push a demo for MH4!
That's a good thing to drown side discussions
