His main costume is a homemade costume. He makes it in his home. His broke-ass home.

That's what his homemade costume looks like! Because he's a fucking genius

SPIDER-MAN

There is no way that this Peter could believably make that costume. He's like 16 here too.

Wait.

So how does Peter fit into everything? Does Tony just recruit a random superhero teen he sees potential in and expects him to put up a fight against Cap and his team?

I'm assuming it makes sense in the movie because ^ that sounds incredibly stupid of Tony.

Welllllllllllllllllllll

Yeah, but the hospital is where Tony tells her that they're coming for her, and then she leaves

Oh, yes. You're right.

Oh, effect. Ok. Because he definitely sensed shit coming once or twice..

I'm a sucker for a visual or audio cue of his spidey sense going off.

So maybe Tony just lets Peter loose in Stark R&D or something and we never see it. Peter designs it and makes it, but it is all paid for by Tony.

Nah. Peter criticizes the costume and Tony gets miffed so he walks it back. Got the sense it's all Tony.

I know that sounds contrived but it's actually really well done. I'm biased tho

Wait, so Peter had the idea for the web shooters, but hadn't actually made any yet? If so, LAME!

No, he has already made the webshooters.

Tony was impressed with the webbing he created.

During the airport scene Peter comments on Falcon's wings. He brings up how smart the design is and how using so and so material is clever since it allows for them to bend or whatever. He's a really smart kid in the movie but he just doesn't have the means to make a bunch of high tech shit.

I can totally picture him upgrading the suit in his solo movie now that he has Tony to fund him.

SPIDER-MAN

EXCITED ABOUT OLD BEAT UP DVD PLAYER

Are any of you people familiar with Spider-Man?

He's a dirt-poor teenager who is one of the smartest human beings to ever live, and he gets bit by a radioactive spider whose bite somehow gives him the proportional strength of a spider, extra-sensory perception, and the ability to stick to walls.

But he can't sew his own superhero costume together because he only has a Macintosh Classic in his bedroom.

Fuck, we just watched DEADPOOL make himself one in a montage scene earlier this year.

Well Tony's role in the team is more of an overseer at the beginning of the movie, so he's probably keeping tabs on potential recruits. He looks for Peter after Natasha says they're understaffed after the split.

Honestly, I never bought that any of the movie Peter's could have actually made their costumes. Or especially go through the trouble of doing the extruded webbing design.

If anyone had an issue with the cutting/editing of the Bucky vs Tony clip on Kimmel... yeah prepare for that times 100 in every action scene leading up to the airport one (where the action is a million times better and more importantly readable)

Favorite Spider-Man scene: him casually stopping Bucky's metal fist and then commenting on how fucking cool his arm is hehe. THAT'S classic Spidey and establishes that he is one of the most powerful characters on the field.

Why do I feel that we are going to be the only two whining about this for a while?

I mean, Peter made that awesome costume in a cave. With nothing but scraps!

He's probably keeping tabs on possible heroes because he's really shilling for the Accords and feels it's his job

I'll take your guys' word that it works for the movie.

Just sayin' it doesn't sound like it makes sense, fam

So the 20 minutes of Spiderman from that earlier tweet was just talking about the airport fight in general? How much Spidey is there actually?

Why doesn't Tony visit Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage too? They're all in New York! #ItsAllConnectedExceptWhenItsNot

There's two scenes, one in Aunt May's that's about 10 min. And the airport scene, where he's in almost all of it which was around 17 minutes

I believe at that point the only people that Tony knew for sure were going to back him up were him, Black Widow and War Machine so Black Widows says something like, "we're kind of short handed". He only really recruits Spidey since he needed more people to help him out.

There's the airport scene of which I'd say he is in probably 8-10 minutes of. And then scenes where he first meets Stark which is probably 5-10 minutes. That's it.

I got another issue altogether, and I'm really mixed on this.

T'Challa sparing Zemo. I get why he did it, but I wanted him to go full "see wakanda and die".

At least have Zemo be shipped to a Wakandan prison instead of Ross' bumass. I mean, killing a king is not a light transgression. Not in the least bit.

He's pretty much in two scenes only. First where Tony talks to him at his place. Then the entire airport sequence which is lengthy. Nothing after that.

does anyone remember what spidey said after his quick chat with Cap?

"you've got heart kid where are you from?"

"queens"

cap: "Brooklyn"

what does spidey say after that? crowd cheered too loud I couldn't hear

He had a Martha moment..

T'Challa will just go hunt down and kill all of Zemo's extended family to send a message instead. Or do what giants do.

I would love to see those dues in the MCU with their dumb no killing policy, they'd be so useless.

Oh, that reminds me, there's this funny scene where Winter Soldier is going ham on those German SWAT dudes and Captain America keeps having to safe them from getting killed. At one point WS throws one off a balcony, Cap saves him before he falls to his death which makes him say in a really annoyed voice, "man, come on".

SO!!!!!

Some questions re: Zemo.

So he clearly knew that something went down on 12/16/1991. How did he know that date would be the thing that would tear Tony/Steve apart? The whole Bucky psych eval/EMP scene, was he just trying to get the location of the true final video of what happened on that day?

I believe it was part of the leaked documents from Winter Soldier, which he said were heavily encrypted but he was able to crack.

Speaking of Zemo, am I right in that he had no connection to Crossbones? I'm ok with that, even if it makes his plans rely on a freak accident. It kind of reinforces the idea the governments of the world turning on the Avengers and indeed, the Avengers turning on themselves was a ticking time bomb. Honestly, I really liked how the villains (I fully consider General Ross a villain here, especially after his last talk with Tony) of this film were just normal people but they are so easily able to bring down these superhuman individuals.

Makes one think of one thing I would have loved in this film: The RDJ/Michael Douglas collision of worlds. I wonder if that will ever actually happen lol.

I do wonder if we're like 5 or 10 years away from a full movie employing that tech instead of just individual 3-4 minute scenes.

It's gotta be cost prohibitive.

Question: Does Bucky have a Super Soldier serum derivative? It looked like the other ones did, was that what was in Howard's trunk? Also that dude ran FAST.

So this is a bit of a reach, but does anyone think that the Spiderman movie being subtitled "Homecoming" have anything to do with the Winter Soldier codewords?

Probably just a coincidence?

Yeah, that makes sense. But if you did think about it, it's as simple as "Alfred"

With Spidey you would need to think does he steal the material, what is it made out of, how does he steal material that is perfect for the very specific things he does, if he didn't steal it how did he get it, if he paid for it how did he get th money and so on and so forth.

In the internal logic of the film, when they set up the fact he's poor, it's more difficult to rationalise than your example because there isn't really any restrictions to Alfred doing exactly that. It isn't mentioned, but there isn't really obstacles in the way for that to happen. There is with Spidey.
