From Feige at the announcement, she will be their most powerful beeing in that universe.

Are you sure? I recall a comment where he said something like 'maybe the strongest Avenger' at the event. Can't watch the announcement right now, so I can't check.

Edit:
"...one of the most, if not the most, powerful heroes in the MCU."
I think that's all he ever said about her (power). Given how much things can change, it's a bit too early to make the Superman assumption.

After some thought, my biggest issue with this movie apart from its slower first half (which I might not care about so much on repeat viewings, I still need to go back and see it again) is the nonsensical way Spider-man is inserted into the plot. Everything that happens is pretty entertaining so it's not too hard a pill to swallow but it wasn't done with much finesse.

It does kind of come out of nowhere, but I wouldn't say it's nonsensical. Makes sense that all the Avengers would be keeping an eye on reports of other superpowered people. Tony needed more allies so he went to seek out one he had been keeping tabs on.

So is Gyweneth Paltrow done with superhero movies? I was surprised we haven't gotten even a cameo.

I think she's done with cameos. So if it's her showing up to present some grant on behalf of Tony Stark, she's going to take a rain check on that. If she gets to be a full supporting character in the Rescue armor, maybe she'll sign on.

I do think it's a bit straining on disbelief that he's got 36 hours to solve this problem and his first thought is to fly from Sweden to Queens to have a pow-wow with a kid he's never actually spoken to before to try and convince him to be an extra pair of fists in his punch-up, buuuuuuut...

... I wanted my fucking Spider-Man and I didn't want to wait, so I'm willing to give 'em this one as a freebie.

RIP Uncle Ben :(
Whiplash was doing that after he passed

Basically yeah :-P

Ya that was a weird plot hole, including Mom Stark's foreshadowing and them inexpicably going on a country drive carrying a supervillain wet dream. Maybe Howard just freshly eureka-ed an improved formula in his lab.

As for SHIELD having it, Zola experimented on Bucky with presumably a knockoff version, then brought it with him to SHIELD.
So I hadn't thought about it, but are we certain the mission where Bucket retrieved the serum pouches is the same mission he killed the Starks? I was under the impression they were separate incidents.

It is definitely the same mission. It also makes sense. Howard Stark was part of the team that made the original formula to create Cap so it makes sense that over time he would've been able to recreate something like it. It also makes sense that he would recognize Bucky given that Howard Stark was with Cap in The Fist Avenger. As for how Bucky knew when to strike, Hydra existed already as part of SHIELD by that time and Bucky was working for Hydra so it makes sense that they had the inside scoop on how the new formula was progressing and when the best time to steal it would be.

As for the mother scene at MIT, that wasn't the real version of events. Tony created a modified version of his memory of what he wish would've happened instead of what really happened, and said that when he ended the memory hologram. Presumably, in the real memory he blew off his parents and never got to say goodbye and his mom never said the thing about it being his last time seeing them.

when Bucky said your mothers name is... my mind jumped to Martha before he said Sarah.

Yeah, I was impressed with how well RDJ sold the emotion in that scene.

Amazing. I completely missed that. I guess I need to watch TWS again at some point.

I went back and rewatched this as well. Amazing that I've seen this movie so many times now and completely missed "Btw, your buddy murdered your other buddies parents."

Calling it now, Cap will die in the big fight of IW Part 1 after saying "Avengers Assemble", Part 2 Bucky gets thawed out and takes up the shield for his dead friend. Phase 4 will have a Captain Bucky and friends movie.

Maybe he'll go "Avengers As-" and then get cut off because he is fucking decapitated. And it cuts to black. Then credits.

It'll be interesting to see if Marvel go through with killing people off in part 1. It's risky, you can imagine part of the audience going "No Cap/Stark, no care".

Just saw it. I liked it but thought it was going to be better.

I feel Winter Soldier was the best of the trilogy, even though CW had a lot of great moments.

Spider-Man was spectacular. Can't wait for the new movie.

The entire airport fight scene could have been cut from the movie and it wouldn't have felt detrimental at all. This and loosing the Spidey stuff would have made the pacing much better.
But the scenes themselves were pretty good.

I think my favorite Black Panther moment was when he catches Hawkeye's arrows and they detonate point-black to absolutely zero effect

I think my favourite BP moment was the short exchange between him and Cap after they get caught in Bucharest.

"The Black Panther has been the protector of Wakanda for generations..."

While I enjoyed it, Winter Soldier was a stronger film.

RDJ is really something special. His chemistry with Peter was off the charts--both nerds and Stark really came across as a father figure Peter is missing.

Funnily, I thought this was one Cap's weaker appearances. I really didn't buy this #teamcap nonsense.

Sure Bucky was brainwashed, but I don't care about him as a character. Kill him for all I care.

Ultimately, I think this movie suffered from the same things other MCU standouts have--boring villain and difficulty with ensemble casts.

B-

You are a bad person

And you should feel bad

Anyone else feel like this could have been called Iron Man 4 or Avengers 3 without issue? Honestly I'm not even sure why they titled it a Capetian America film. Iron Man/RDJ stole the show in every scene and he felt like the protagonist. Captain America felt like a supporting cast member at best.

In fact I'd love a break down of screen time and scenes, it felt like RDJ had more of both. The plot followed closer with his journey than Caps. (Hell the movie opened with a plot point regarding the Starks and the plot hinges on them)

The airport fight scene is definitely pure fan service, but I can't help but respect that fact they managed to have that much nerdporn exploding on screen without it becoming an incomprehensible jumble visually or narratively.

I mean, there's nothing wrong with some audience appeasement as long as you're keeping under a reasonable runtime and it isn't actively detracting from the rest of the movie.

for me it felt like a cap movie through and through and also a great conclusion to cap's story thus far

no matter how many characters were on screen it always felt like a story centered around cap, bucky, and their relationship

I'd probably appreciate the absolute audacity of it

Disney would scar every single child who showed up

I think my favorite Black Panther moment was when he catches Hawkeye's arrows and they detonate point-blank to absolutely zero effect

If you could see BP's face then, it'd probably be something like 'get this shit outta my face'

Whedon isn't directing Avengers 3 so we won't have pointless shock-value deaths, most likely
