Captain America: Civil War SPOILER Thread - #TeamThanos

Agents of SHIELD recently had an episode where there is apparently an entire underground industry of transhumanism ala Deus Ex with rich folks getting augmented with high tech shit. The level of technology in the MCU is all over the place. :P

i love this spidey so much

i dont think i can say that enough

yup

dying to see homecoming and black panther after watching this movie

I really like the movie. But I watched it again and I was surprised, I just wasn't as into it as I thought I would be. Thought it seemed like a perfect re-watch movie, but I was fairly bored until the airport.

Maybe it was just too soon to see it again, or maybe I just wanted to get back to Uncharted 4. I'm gonna have to wait for the Blu-Ray before I can accurately rank it against the rest of the MCU.

you're not alone. I felt the same watch on the second and third viewing. the movie really peaks at the airport scene. everything else becomes kinda tedious to get through as a result!

Nah momma Cho is still around
Ah, couldn't remember if she lived or not when ultron shot her. I know ultron killed the vast majority of her team though. Not sure why that chamber isn't being used, but it makes sense why extremis isn't being used.

I liked the movie more the second time I saw it, but I liked the action less. The way most of the action is shot is really annoying, and becomes even more annoying on rewatch. I love the plot beats though. It's just such a well put together film.

Extremis has like a 1 in 10 chance of blowing you up so yeah :-P

Maybe the regeneration cradle can't work on nerve and bone tissue yet. Maybe Tony only figured out a way to cure extremis but not stabilize it. Yeah these are shortcomings of the universe but I don't find the fact that every dangling thread isn't directly addressed hurts my enjoyment.

The Raid and The Raid 2 has ruined so much of modern action film making for me. Clean shots of people coming as close to really fighting as possible with no cheap edits and no cheap camera shaking makes almost everything else look weak and fake.

I'm glad Civil War largely ditches the shakey cam shit after the first set piece.

The clean head on trailer shot of Cap, Bucky and Stark going at it is something I wish we got more of.

Edit: I agree though, I liked the film even more the second time, it has so much texture. I don't find the first half a drag at all.

Just saw it. It was really great. The Winter Soldier was a better movie though. Maybe a lot better. Even still, it's definitely in the MCU top 3 with Winter Soldier and Gurdians of the Galaxy.

Why the hell was this a Captain movie though and not an Avengers one? They could have had Hulk and Thor in there instead of Vision and Spidey and called it Avengers and spared us all the utter dogshit that was Age of Ultron, which has no reason to exist. Civil War is the real Avengers 2.

The stairwell fight might be my favorite hand to hand fight scene in the movie but I have to see it again to be sure.

It's pretty good. That and the final set piece are the only scenes in the film which feel like they carried the tradition of Winter Soldier's superior action - tight spaces, visceral but clear, and felt raw.

Maaaaaan, when T'Challa's Dora Milaje bodyguard stepped up onto the scene....

"Move, or you will be moved"

Hulk and Thor would've been on Cap's side.

Then who's left on Iron Man's team?

LOSERS.

We could have seen Vision fight. Hulk and Thor to a standstill. Imagine the destruction though haha

Put Thor, Hulk, and Vision in a conveniently abandoned part of the city. And evacuate the business district of the neighbouring city just in case.

Banner would absolutely be for the Accords. He's the original "I need to be put in check" long before Tony Stark! Hulk on the other hand.... :P

Even with Ross. Bruce is a guilt-trip savant.

That is, if there's a strong reason he needs to hang around and not just go "I'll build a rocket and launch myself to somewhere I couldn't hurt anybody" or some such.
I'd like to see this happen just so we could get their take on world war hulk

But that would not lead to World War Hulk. It would only possibly lead to Planet Hulk. If he builds the rocket HIMSELF and launches HIMSELF to space to protect other people, why would he be mad at everyone else when he gets back to Earth? The point of World War Hulk was that he was betrayed and backstabbed by his "friends" because they thought he was too much of a threat!

Anybody else notice that apparently all the love interest from the first 4 movies are gone? :p

lol true

Pepper= off screen breakup
Betty= who?
Jane= long-term no show
but man fuck Jane, #teamSif #teamValkyrie #teamanyoneelse
Peggy= dead

Cap is the real winner b/c he's the only one who's already locked in with a rebound chick :p

I've said it before in the other thread (or maybe this one?) I don't think Banner would side with either of them. He knows he needs to be put in check but also wouldn't trust the government to do so. After all, his entire movie was about keeping the Hulk out of government hands.

Not to mention, there were already been plenty of calls for his arrest in AoU. Even if he was willing to cooperate, the moment he showed up to sign, someone, probably Ross, would try to arrest him and Hulk would make a mess.

Plus apparently Natalie Portmon might not comeback for Thor 3.
I already feel bad BP and Spidey's first love interests .

Banner would not trust Ross but he wouldn't side with Cap either after Lagos. He fears collateral damage more than anyone else on the team. If they didn't already do away with him in Ultron, he would have just excused himself the moment Lagos and Ross happened.

I have no idea what World War Hulk contains, but based on this limited information I imagine that an MCU World War Hulk would be a battle-royale of multi-colored Hulks taking place within Bruce's mind.

Now that's more like the Peter David story that resulted in Merged Hulk. Which I would be absolutely thrilled to see in the MCU.

It'll probably never happen, though.

I still have hopes that they'll handwave something about the BW Lullaby only half working at the end of AoU, leaving the door open for Merged Hulk in Thor 3.

Derp, my bad. I could see Ross trying to send the hulk away eventually.

I wonder which movie the hulk will show back up again.

Bruce guilt-trips himself constantly. He'd be for the Accords.

Bruce doesn't trust anyone other than Alfred though. He'd be against The Accords but, of course, would have his own contingencies for everyone else. A strange mix of Cap and Tony really.

Edit: I'm slow. When I read Bruce I immediately think Wayne. Didn't even catch all the context of the other replies. Feel free to point and laugh.

I tried to envision the most ridiculous scenario and it turns out, of course, that comic books have gotten a better handle of things. There are actually multi-colored Hulks? And they merge? I'm not worthy.

He has been confirmed for Thor Ragnarok. It's a buddy movie with Hulk and Thor, by a comedy director. No, I'm not joking.
That actually sounds pretty awesome to me. Make Hemsworth channel the charming, big dum-dum of the first Thor and make Rufallo the exasperated voice of reason, then flip the roles during Hulkrages.

HaHaHaHaHA!

Maybe partially my fault, though. I don't know how each of these characters are usually called so I just use the first names for all. Then I saw everybody use "Banner" and I'm too stubborn to change.

To be fair, The Winter Soldier and Civil War are by "comedy directors."

But they weren't looking specifically for comedy directors to help Winter Soldier. They always called it a political thriller and the Russos just had a great take on it. The strangest thing about Thor Ragnarok was how they were specifically going after comedy directors. The shortlist was all comedy guys, and even Feige said that for something like "Ragnarok" they wanted someone who could inject some levity into it.

I'm not saying this is bad at all, just that it's not exactly what we would have expected after the initial Ragnarok announcement. It's a bit of a curve ball.

Well, the original story only had two hulks, green and grey, who got into a big mental fight with Banner before all three merged to make a super genius, nine-foot tall sarcastic joke machine.

There was a second story later on by Paul Jenkins where it was revealed that there were thousands of hulks in assorted colors, builds, and temperaments who were all being killed off by this Devil Hulk who looked like a big golden lizard until there were only about three left.

Because Banner is pretty crazy when you get right down to it.

Just saw this movie for the first time and thought it was okay. Honestly I was really digging it until that scene where the woman is confronting Tony about her dead son in Sokovia, which I found pretty dumb. That feeling of meh-ness then continued throughout the rest of the film. I actually thought the movie was pretty boring. I could tell they were going for more than the typical cape flick but none of it really resonated with me.

Zemo was a pretty weak villain too. A nice mix-up considering the quality of the rest of the MCU villains but still, meh.

I think I'm done going to see MCU films in theaters. I'll probably catch them on home release though. I may just be getting tired of cape movies in general.

Ah, that is weird. The "comedy folks are really good at drama" theory is one I've heard a bunch in the last few years, bolstered by Breaking Bad having so many comedy actors involved, and the Russo's TV experience proved their ability to juggle huge casts.

Though, in the MCU at least, Thor tends to be the most comic relief focused character of the core Phase 1 group. I expect Ragnorok to skew funny for at least a good chunk of it's running time.

A Thor/Hulk buddy comedy that escalates into something more serious to lay the cosmic groundwork for Infinity War is what I've been expecting.

I wish we'd get an Iron Man 4, I feel there's so much left to RDJ's IM for him to not have a solo film anymore.

We'd also get a chance for more Pepper. Both excuses for her absence in this and AoU were flimsy, like an ill-thought-out grade school excuse note.

Yeah, Waititi is a bit of an oddball. He's not the first (or last) person you think when they say Thor Ragnarok. But hey, here's hoping to be surprised.
