Isn't he the dude that ruined cn and the reason why there are so few actual cn cartoons on there now?

I dunno if just him leaving will change anything

It depends on who the new CEO is.
Hopefully it's someone that sees value in cartoons beyond selling toys.

I hope so, maybe YJ could come back, i dunno. CN has been sad for a while, so few new cartoons carrying the channel.Hmm, despite all this I still appreciate it alot more than nick right now.

Isn't the creator working on Star Wars now?

They will probably show the 2nd half of Beware the Batman at least.

Like the second time I've heard that podcast and it still stings. Pretty much every action oriented show that wasn't ben 10 was being shelved, cockblocked, and cut off at the knees by the execs at CN.

I'm not sure if this is terrific news or terrible news. We'll just have to wait and see how the new guy does.

For now though, I am pleased by this news. Stuart Synder has been a thorn in the side of the network since the moment he stepped into his position. Jim Samples never should have gotten ousted after the Boston incident. The network went downhill ever since. Yeah we got great stuff like Adventure Time and Regular show, but great shows like Young Justice, Green Lantern: TAS, Symbionic Titan and others got crushed under foot despite having great audiences. The way they treated some of their most exceptional talents like Genndy Tartakovsky and Craig McCracken is damn near criminal. Those two should still be on the CN payroll making them masterpieces, but now they've gone elsewhere.

I hope the new guy does better. I am a little nervous it might get worse. It really sounds like a turner sales guy and that makes me uneasy. Otherwise, here's hoping. That being said, CN is losing an hour to adult swim the same time this new guy takes over. I wonder if that has any bearing on what is going on there.

Edit: He should have been fired ages ago for the treatment DC Nation has been receiving. Ben 10 is the only new show (maybe pokemon too?) being aired on Saturday mornings and the rest of the time is like a graveyard. I can't imagine DC Comics is super thrilled with that.

Great news, but at the same time, I have few hopes that this guy will be a better replacement. CN got better after the whole CN real disaster, but utterly destruction of Action cartoons left a very bad taste in my mouth.

While the treat of Live Action is gone, Stuart managed to kill most of it's action cartoons by bullshit statistics. Ben 10: Omniverse is the only action cartoon running now. It isn't bad, but it leans much more to comedy now than before. I miss serious action shows like Young Justice and Green Lantern. Beware the Batman seems to have gotten the same treatment of YG and GL.

The way CN's handled DC Nation was a complete, utterly distaste. If Action Cartoons come back one day, they better pay attention on how Stuart handled DC nation.

Was he the one to blame for Sym-Bionic Titan and Young Justice getting cancelled?

Was gonna ask this, cause if so:

So glad this clown is out. He made CN into a joke. Great, lucrative shows destroyed to make way for more donkey shit reality shows. Actively screwing over action cartoons and ruining the DC Nation block. The only good thing to happen in this guy's time as CEO is the rise of Adventure Time and Regular Show, and those only made it because they got so big so fast he literally could not cancel them.

Worse, those came back after the Christmas break and got to air the remaining episodes.
Batman is still in limbo and it didn't even finish airing the remaining episode of the 1st half of the season.
DVD released in February containing the last 2 episodes of the first half of season 1.

It isn't surprising considering the fate of several shows due to CN essentially assassinating them. Worst cases being Young Justice/Green Lantern, Beware the Batman, and Scooby Doo Mystery Inc.

Wait, Beware the Batman has already aired?

Damn, I completely missed that one. Was it any good?

It wasn't bad. It wasn't GL:TAS, but it was decent.

I don't completely think that one was due to not selling toys like Young Justice or GL:TAS or the like. That one had pretty terrible ratings from the get-go as far as I can tell. It had several items working against it from the start:

- Your older fans were still stinging from YJ/GL:TAS being cancelled in its stead.
- Older fans tend to have to be sold a little harder on CG shows than not.
- It was aired sporadically. It would be on, then reruns, then nothing, then come back randomly, etc.
- Their design decisions for certain characters like Alfred put some people off.
- Their choices for villains seemed almost try-hard in nature. They purposefully picked villains that were more obscure rather than the usual favorites like The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman, etc. Instead we were stuck with Professor Pyg, Anarchy and the like. I think it actually worked out well enough, but I don't blame people for passing on the show when you don't draw them with their favorite characters.

I saw a post floating around tumblr that was like "YOUNG JUSTICE SEASON 3 RENEWED!" and thought it was halfway plausible with this other stuff going around and clicked it...

...and got genuinely rickrolled for the first time in years.

Magpie turned out pretty cool imo, Katana was getting better as well.

How did this costume make it on CN though

Yeah, I rather liked the characters after I gave it a chance. Katana was annoying in the beginning to me, but she got better. It was pretty good. As I said, I imagine it didn't do the show any favors to pick them though. When you hear Batman, most people are going to be like "Okay, where's the Joker or Two-face?" when they don't see any of them showing up.

Justice League (Unlimited in particular) pulled this off much more successfully by having a wide range of episodes that featured some lesser used DC comics characters like Vigilante, Shining Knight and Jonah Hex, yet they still had the mainstays like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc. and their popular villains. They really introduced a lot of outsiders to obscure heroes and villains from the DC stable while not alienating people from the characters they want to see at the forefront. This gave fans of the comics and the animated universe the ability to resonate closer to each other. Beware the Batman could have done similar, but they didn't.

This is a personal opinion, but when I say it seemed try-hard, it reminded me of the people I met in art school that would criticize Marvel or DC shows BECAUSE they didn't put someone like Etrigan at the forefront. There would be whole conversations about why their favorite character was so much better than Green Lantern or Supes and how undeserved it was that they would be shunned to obscurity of only comics. This painted my opinion when I saw the show being announced and the creators were saying "We want to focus on characters like Professor Pyg and other lesser known villains". It felt like they were making a mistake just for the sake of saying "You'll see, these guys are BETTER than the Joker". Again, that's my super subjective opinion based on annoying people I knew in college.

that was exactly Snyder's plan tho
And what a spectacular failure it was.
And then he canceled amazing shows because he couldn't sell toys and other over priced merchandise. Symbionic Titan was the worst of it. That show was actually getting good ratings, but no toys meant it got the axe.

This guy is why YJ, Symbionic Titan, Green Lantern, Mystery Inc and Thundercats couldn't keep going/get a fair shot at airing with a real and consistent timeslot.

This guy is why reality TV and live-action movies were pushed more than animated programs.

I'm glad he's gone - and I hope whoever takes the wheel next is going to remember that Cartoon Network needs to be about cartoons.

If he is responsible for Uncle Grampa good riddance.

I seriously hate that show. It's offense to just about everyone. Uncle Grampa himself is an offense. Why does he talk like he's suffering from a mental handicap. It's so damn annoying. I usually wake up to Gumball (which is kind of funny at times) but then that shitty show comes on before and kills the whole vibe. Don't even get me started On beyblade and it's ridiculous arena audio.. Ughhh.

Edit : But Teen Titan Go is funny as fuck. It has me dying pretty much every morning.

I see too much argument about nothing here.

Justice League: Unlimited getting axed was the still the worst moment in network history.

Last few years there has been some great content to be had though.

It's unfortunate, but I wouldn't get hopes up for continuing seasons of anything, Mystery Inc., Thundercats, YJ or otherwise.

Those ships have sailed. Those creative teams are now working on other shows (like Star Wars: Rebels!)

It would make me nothing but thrilled for them to hire back people like Genndy or Craig McCracken. The reality is, it just won't happen I'm afraid.

I don't watch a ton of content from the "children" networks lately, but the primary two I'm exposed to is TMNT on Nickelodeon and outside of Adult Swim would be Adventure Time on Cartoon Network.

I think both networks are incredibly lazy at analyzing their demographics. Over the years, they have had content which not only appealed to children, but other demographics. Neither network seemingly adjusts their schedule and programing to meet demand. It seems like something relatively easy to do, but they probably have absurd demands which they throw programing against the wall to achieve.

The show got 5 years
And was bought back for an extra season after JLU season 2 which was originally the 2nd ending.

If that interview on the other page of the thread is any indication, they have no idea what they are doing and how to handle multiple types of fanbases.

Teen titans go is "funny as fuck"

But uncle grandpa is the worst show ever?

Does not compute.

I can't say I find TTG funny as fuck, but it's better then Uncle Grandpa, which I haven't found a redeeming quality in at all.

I've Only seen one episode of teen Titans go but it seemed like a normal actiony cartoon to me.

They all live in an RV and one of the characters is a photo of a tiger that flies around by farting rainbows. That's enough for me.

So now that Snyder is gone with his ideas, anybody have any ides of their own that could work with the network?

Personally, I think it could have a try at kid/teen friendly comedy anime. Maybe get some shows like Dansei Koukosei Nichijou, Sket Dance (this doesn't have a dub but could get dubbed, it's a highschool comedy so I'm sure it would work out), or Detective Conan. Shows that aren't too bad for kids/teens to see, but can enjoy. I wouldn't start out the "comedy anime movement" like Snyder tried to do with the "live-action movement", where he just threw a ton of them at us at once. Maybe put 1 or 2 out there, see if it sticks. If it doesn't remove it, if it does then try out some more.

Toonami is successful on the action anime side, so why not throw in some comedy anime while they're at it? Space Dandy is a comedy, and it's probably the most viewed anime on Toonami. That's the only idea I have, if the network wanted to try something out. If not, then just keep throwing more cartoons at us. They're already going to try out Clarence, and I think Steven Universe is going strong at the moment. Uncle Grandpa on the other hand, I'm not sure about.

They need to change their attitude about a few things.

First off, give a show enough time to find its audience. Once it has found its audience, let it grow and do its thing as long as the ratings aren't absolutely in the pits.

Don't completely ignore your older fans. Make shows for kids and teens, yet are also accessible by adults. Some of the best shows to come out of Cartoon Network (and other network's) past are beloved by kids and adults alike. Dexter's Lab, PPG, Fosters, Ed Edd and Eddy, Young Justice, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Batman:TAS, etc. are all enjoyable for adults and don't just pander to children. Adventure Time, Regular Show and Steven Universe are recent examples that are doing this well. There is a reason these things persist.

Shows shouldn't exist only based upon their merchandising. The show should be able to stand up on its own two feet before merchandise comes into the picture. By all means, merch the shit out of things like they do with Adventure Time. AT is a fantastic show first, not because of its tie-in merchandise.

Cultivate your damn talent and don't let them get away. I mentioned earlier, that the fact that they couldn't work out keeping Genndy Tartakovsky or Craig McCracken after both having been with the CN studios for 15+ years, was damn near criminal. They should be ashamed of it and NEVER let that kind of thing happen again.

With that, keep your original programming going and fresh.

Lastly (that I can think of right now) their scheduling needs to be consistent. Do not take a random month off after new episodes started up again the previous week. Do not have new episodes start and take random weeks off in between for no real reason. Holidays? Sure! No problem. That makes sense. This has happened recently with Steven Universe in November. The show had started up and aired all of about 3-4 episodes before it was put out to pasture until January. Between November and mid-January, it repeated those same 3-4 episodes almost DAILY! It was ridiculous! This has happened to Adventure Time and Regular show as well, not to mention the atrocity that has been DC nation. Get your schedule consistent and get a stable of shows that can fill timeslots so you aren't repeating Adventure Time 6-7 times a day and having awkward breaks over the course of the year.

Totally agree. Before they try anything new with the network, they should definitely get their scheduling and attitudes worked out. Except for Fridays when they show the hour of past cartoons, every day is mostly more Johnny Test (how is this still running?), Adventure Time, and Regular Show. With a little Steven Universe and Uncle Grandpa thrown in a few times. Also, that whole Steven Universe break that happened.

Didn't Scooby-Doo: Mystery Inc have a definitive, satisfying ending, though?

That was such a great show.

Yes but after the first half of the first season they screwed it over.

They ordered all the episodes because it originally did amazing in the ratings, but they decided to kill it after that.
It got to the point where they dumped entire halves of seasons at 1pm on weekdays(when half the kids in the US were in school)

First 12 episodes = Summer 2010(season 2 already ordered and being worked on at this point. )
Second 12 episods = May 2011(was set to return soon, then faced month by month delays)
3rd 12 episodes = August 2012(every day at 1 pm)(was originally supposed to air Fall 2011, no promotion when it returned)
Final 12 episodes = end of March 2013(every day till the final 2 episodes)(almost no promotion when it returned)

For a serial show, and especially one supposedly aimed at kids
They actually expected kids to stick around for 3 entire years for a simple 48 episodes let alone remember shit from even just the last half season?

There were also many stories about the head of CN personally disliking crewmembers of Mystery Inc.
