It depends on who the new CEO is.Isn't he the dude that ruined cn and the reason why there are so few actual cn cartoons on there now?
I dunno if just him leaving will change anything
It depends on who the new CEO is.
Hopefully it's someone that sees value in cartoons beyond selling toys.
Isn't the creator working on Star Wars now?I hope so, maybe YJ could come back, i dunno. CN has been sad for a while, so few new cartoons carrying the channel.Hmm, despite all this I still appreciate it alot more than nick right now.
Listen, don't ruin my delusions.Isn't the
creator working on Star Wars now?
They will probably show the 2nd half of Beware the Batman at least.
Was he the one to blame for Sym-Bionic Titan and Young Justice getting cancelled?
Worse, those came back after the Christmas break and got to air the remaining episodes.Great news, but at the same time, I have few hopes that this guy will be a better replacement. CN got better after the whole CN real disaster, but utterly destruction of Action cartoons left a very bad taste in my mouth.
While the treat of Live Action is gone, Stuart managed to kill most of it's action cartoons by bullshit statistics. Ben 10: Omniverse is the only action cartoon running now. It isn't bad, but it leans much more to comedy now than before. I miss serious action shows like Young Justice and Green Lantern. Beware the Batman seems to have gotten the same treatment of YG and GL.
The way CN's handled DC Nation was a complete, utterly distaste. If Action Cartoons come back one day, they better pay attention on how Stuart handled DC nation.
It isn't surprising considering the fate of several shows due to CN essentially assassinating them. Worst cases being Young Justice/Green Lantern, Beware the Batman, and Scooby Doo Mystery Inc.
Wait, Beware the Batman has already aired?
Damn, I completely missed that one. Was it any good?
Magpie turned out pretty cool imo, Katana was getting better as well.It wasn't bad. It wasn't GL:TAS, but it was decent.
I don't completely think that one was due to not selling toys like Young Justice or GL:TAS or the like. That one had pretty terrible ratings from the get-go as far as I can tell. It had several items working against it from the start:
- Your older fans were still stinging from YJ/GL:TAS being cancelled in its stead.
- Older fans tend to have to be sold a little harder on CG shows than not.
- It was aired sporadically. It would be on, then reruns, then nothing, then come back randomly, etc.
- Their design decisions for certain characters like Alfred put some people off.
- Their choices for villains seemed almost try-hard in nature. They purposefully picked villains that were more obscure rather than the usual favorites like The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman, etc. Instead we were stuck with Professor Pyg, Anarchy and the like. I think it actually worked out well enough, but I don't blame people for passing on the show when you don't draw them with their favorite characters.

How did this costume make it on CN though
The person that replaces him could be worse. "Cartoons? Who watches those anymore? From now on live action!"
And what a spectacular failure it was.that was exactly Snyder's plan tho
Its actually good though. And FUCK Teen Titans Go.
I'd like to know this, link? The story behind how Uncle Grandpa came to be is amazing. It's not my favorite show but it does have a certain charm to it.
Its actually good though.
I see too much argument about nothing here.
Justice League: Unlimited getting axed was the still the worst moment in network history.
Last few years there has been some great content to be had though.
I don't watch a ton of content from the "children" networks lately, but the primary two I'm exposed to is TMNT on Nickelodeon and outside of Adult Swim would be Adventure Time on Cartoon Network.
I think both networks are incredibly lazy at analyzing their demographics. Over the years, they have had content which not only appealed to children, but other demographics. Neither network seemingly adjusts their schedule and programing to meet demand. It seems like something relatively easy to do, but they probably have absurd demands which they throw programing against the wall to achieve.
The show got 5 years
And was bought back for an extra season after JLU season 2 which was originally the 2nd ending.
If he is responsible for Uncle Grampa good riddance.
I seriously hate that show. It's offense to just about everyone. Uncle Grampa himself is an offense. Why does he talk like he's suffering from a mental handicap. It's so damn annoying. I usually wake up to Gumball (which is kind of funny at times) but then that shitty show comes on before and kills the whole vibe. Don't even get me started On beyblade and it's ridiculous arena audio.. Ughhh.
Edit : But Teen Titan Go is funny as fuck. It has me dying pretty much every morning.
Teen titans go is "funny as fuck"
But uncle grandpa is the worst show ever?
Does not compute.
I can't say I find TTG funny as fuck, but it's better then Uncle Grandpa, which I haven't found a redeeming quality in at all.
Didn't Scooby-Doo: Mystery Inc have a definitive, satisfying ending, though?
That was such a great show.
So now that Snyder is gone with his ideas, anybody have any ides of their own that could work with the network?
Personally, I think it could have a try at kid/teen friendly comedy anime. Maybe get some shows like Dansei Koukosei Nichijou, Sket Dance (this doesn't have a dub but could get dubbed, it's a highschool comedy so I'm sure it would work out), or Detective Conan. Shows that aren't too bad for kids/teens to see, but can enjoy. I wouldn't start out the "comedy anime movement" like Snyder tried to do with the "live-action movement", where he just threw a ton of them at us at once. Maybe put 1 or 2 out there, see if it sticks. If it doesn't remove it, if it does then try out some more.
Toonami is successful on the action anime side, so why not throw in some comedy anime while they're at it? Space Dandy is a comedy, and it's probably the most viewed anime on Toonami. That's the only idea I have, if the network wanted to try something out. If not, then just keep throwing more cartoons at us. They're already going to try out Clarence, and I think Steven Universe is going strong at the moment. Uncle Grandpa on the other hand, I'm not sure about.
Pretty certain he's also who Paul Dini is talking about here:

They need to change their attitude about a few things.
First off, give a show enough time to find its audience. Once it has found its audience, let it grow and do its thing as long as the ratings aren't absolutely in the pits.
Don't completely ignore your older fans. Make shows for kids and teens, yet are also accessible by adults. Some of the best shows to come out of Cartoon Network (and other network's) past are beloved by kids and adults alike. Dexter's Lab, PPG, Fosters, Ed Edd and Eddy, Young Justice, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Batman:TAS, etc. are all enjoyable for adults and don't just pander to children. Adventure Time, Regular Show and Steven Universe are recent examples that are doing this well. There is a reason these things persist.
Shows shouldn't exist only based upon their merchandising. The show should be able to stand up on its own two feet before merchandise comes into the picture. By all means, merch the shit out of things like they do with Adventure Time. AT is a fantastic show first, not because of its tie-in merchandise.
Cultivate your damn talent and don't let them get away. I mentioned earlier, that the fact that they couldn't work out keeping Genndy Tartakovsky or Craig McCracken after both having been with the CN studios for 15+ years, was damn near criminal. They should be ashamed of it and NEVER let that kind of thing happen again.
With that, keep your original programming going and fresh.
Lastly (that I can think of right now) their scheduling needs to be consistent. Do not take a random month off after new episodes started up again the previous week. Do not have new episodes start and take random weeks off in between for no real reason. Holidays? Sure! No problem. That makes sense. This has happened recently with Steven Universe in November. The show had started up and aired all of about 3-4 episodes before it was put out to pasture until January. Between November and mid-January, it repeated those same 3-4 episodes almost DAILY! It was ridiculous! This has happened to Adventure Time and Regular show as well, not to mention the atrocity that has been DC nation. Get your schedule consistent and get a stable of shows that can fill timeslots so you aren't repeating Adventure Time 6-7 times a day and having awkward breaks over the course of the year.
Didn't Scooby-Doo: Mystery Inc have a definitive, satisfying ending, though?
That was such a great show.
