Chances for an L.A. Noire sequel?

I'd say I want a sequel, but I want pretty much nothing to carry from the original game except for time period, the general detective genre and maybe the animation quality. They need to ditch the gameplay concepts entirely, there are way too many flaws in how the game communicates emotions to you; something it bet the farm on.

I don't think there's any chance for an actual sequel for LA Noire, considering the developer is toast and Rockstar probably wouldn't want to work with the main "visionary" behind the game again. But I do think there's a pretty good chance that some time down the line Rockstar will revisit the franchise and reimagine it in their own way similar to how they took Red Dead Revolver and made Red Dead Redemption from it.

Pretty much what I was thinking. I hope they make another Noire, but personally I'd love for it to be set in postwar New York. The skyscrapers and all that pavement and alleyways would make great noir imagery. Possibly multiple characters like Cop/PI/Criminal. And hopefully a much more interactive world.

I loved the atmosphere of the game but the one thing that could have set them apart, the interrogations, were broken. That is a pretty huge failure. I wouldn't mind Rockstar taking their crack at it. Set it in the 70s, with sort of a Dirty Harry/Streets of San Francisco type of vibe.

I'd rather see Agent happen instead of another Noire game.

Bully 2 over both of them.

Honestly i just need my rockstar fix man, they can make another table tennis games and i would be all over that.

With that said, i really want to see the gameplay ideas behind Agent, the housers and everyone that saw the game said that it was going to be fucking bananas. Something that they wanted to do for a lot of time. I mean, A spionage game in the 70's during the height of the cold war? *DROOOOOOOOLS*. Whatever they do next, be it the new GTA (which i think it will take a while), Red Dead, Bully, Agent, Manhunt, Noire, new IP. Just give it to me ;_;

I would love a sequel to this game. I still put it in the ps3 every no and then. Can't remember if it was a gaf thread or an ign article sayin how the next one should follow detective work like the wire.

It would be awesome if they implemented the idea of multiple protags who had different jobs, and in some cases they had their disagreements, and you had to choose which character you would follow to solve the case. The whole idea of the outcome of the cases being affected is very appealing to me. They had 24 cases. If a rockstar developed noire game had the idea of cases being affected. Maybe having less cases (and more other things to do in between) but with the idea of different outcome would be very coool.

But is the Whore of the Orient officially cancelled? I think they just have a hard time findind the money. So, as far as I know, there still is a small chance that we could get to see Whore of the Orient sometime in the future, and that game sounded like a spiritual sequal to LA Noir. The gameplay, that was leaked last year, looked pretty nice, so Im crossing my fingers.

Yeah, they me be having some financial backing and publishing problems, but I don't believe they've officially cancelled the game yet. It's developmental progress has probably slowed significantly though and moreso the longer they continue in that state.

Yep. And that 70's scenario is just what I would want too.

I absolutely loved L.A. Noire and I'd definitely want a sequel. The investigations and interrogations were a lot of fun. I didn't mind the shootouts so much but I would've liked to sweep more crime scenes or have something else to do in the city beyond collectables and the few street crimes..

I felt like the city needed more things to do outside of the cases. Sort of felt the same about Mafia II in some ways. Just a lot of driving with the meaty bits being part of the story itself or with the DLC. Apart from that, I thought it was still a good game. I wouldn't mind playing as Kelso, Bekowsky, or someone new.

A complete failure of a game, the interrogations and the plot were just nonsense. I don't understand how a game of this sort didn't have dialogue trees. The only thing it had going for itself was the facial animation tech, which turns out nobody will seemingly use again ever.

I'm not sure how much value there is in this IP for Rockstar to drop its usual 100+ million budget on.

The interrogations were highly flawed, but I still enjoyed them if only because it was a refreshing change of pace compared to most other AAA games. Being a detective is just super cool despite all the problems in the game.

YOU MURDERED HER AND COVERED UP THE EVIDENCE YOU DEGENERATE FILTH. WHAT WOULD YOUR MOTHER THINK OF YOU NOW, HUH?! WHAT NOW!?

... he said to the 9 year old girl.

War can do that to you.

That was always my argument. "He's got PTSD man, that's why he flips out without warning over the littlest shit"

Didn't this game kill the studio that made it? I'd say there's a 1% chance

From the post mortems with former developers it seems that Brendan McNamara, the head of Team Bondi, was responsible for killing the studio.

I still want a sequel to the game, but without the issues that plagued the team during, and after it was developed.

lol it was Team Bondi

and they were working on a game called Whore of the Orient, i think it is still in development

Besides, it's up to Rockstar now to choose which team will be responsible for a sequel, if they want to. Team Bondi or Brendan McNamara don't need to be involved.

this's what i'm hoping for, too. as disappointing as the game was, the atmosphere was awesome - great setting deserving of a much better game...

On the whole I enjoyed the game but I found the interrogations to be pretty random. Quite a few of the facial expressions you were supposed to be reading had no relation to whether you doubted what they were saying, or swallowed every word.

On the flip side you have Murdered: Soul Suspect, where the investagations were very simple but just wasn't very long.

A combination of the two would be ideal.
