Heading to England for a few days and hoping to get a few cheap games.

What shops should I be heading for?

Game and Gamestation have a lot of cheap 2nd hand stuff (often in a '3 for £20' type deal). Cex are also good for cheap used games, but many of the staff and customers seem to be idiots, and the games are often in crappy condition.

According to the posts I read at hotukdeals Argos did fix the glitch and collecting it in store is iffy about it being honoured anyway.

You can't use the self-service kiosks for 18 rated games (the self service kiosks act like the website). That means you have to talk to a person whose machine says it is the correct price (the tills use a different pricing system)...

Some people managed to get it anyway by having a print-out showing it totaled to £20 but other people did the same and got rejected since it was clearly a bug. Usually Argos are quick to altert staff to these bugs.

To add to this:

If you want new releases for cheap though usually Supermarkets are your best bet (HMV and Blockbuster are also fairly good). Tesco and Asda moreso than Morrisons and Sainsburys though Morrisions does have bargin bins full of games which occasionally have good games in them...

any other site packing a free game with the PS3 Slim? I might cancel my pre-order for a better deal in that case.
It's definitely a deal, just not an exceptional one, you're maybe saving 10 bux.
Right now I haven't seen a better deal except on an infamous banned site that I'm not going to mention, but I'm expecting some sweet amazon.co.uk deals after the first rush is over. Nothing is ever sold at RRP in the UK. :lol

I thought it was silly that sony are sticking the slim at £299 RRP, if shopto can drop their price that much I expect others to follow or at least do sales with reduction / pack-ins.

ShopTo has aids, and even with Paypal it still is a bad idea to stick your "details" into it

Nah, doesn't have full blown aids as far as I'm concerned, just HIV+.

I've not been shafted by them, so I'm happy to use them. They have since changed the company that holds their CC info.

Its not £299. Its 299 Euros, but £249.99 here. Shopto giving you a £25 discount.

Amazon: Fallout 3 Add-On Pack: The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage (360) - £8.37

If you are feeling naughty you can install the add-on's onto your 360 once you buy it (you dont need the disc to play), and then you can trade the disc to CEX for £9 (their current price), and up 63p on the deal. :D

Genius.

Ordered and then ready to trade & match & Beat @ gamestation for £9+£1 :D

Disk based DLC rocks. Might even buy the other disk for £11 from Amazon and take the slight hit compared to the other one once I trade in. I wanted to get back into Fallout - will have to look up which disk has the expanded level cap.

Ah right, I must have read it wrong / mistake a few days ago when I heard slim was going to be £299 everywhere :E

Has anyone used TheHut yet? Is it thrustworthy and how fast is delivery? I'm mainly using Play.com (delivery is getting slower and slower, it seems) but TheHut has very sharp prices, even for new games.

Very safe but also very slow. 10-15 days for delivery.

TheHut and Zavvi are probably the stores I'm buying the most stuff from lately.
They're both run by the same company, and they both ship pretty fast (I usually receive stuff in 5-7 days... hell, I even got one of my orders - Wii Sports Resort - in 3 days once!).
On the downside, if your order gets lost during shipping you'll have to compile and send back a paper form they send you via regular mail before they get you a replacement. It's a bit of a nuisance, but nothing deal-breaking to me (I hear play.com does the same lately).

Where are you from? I'm in Italy, and despite the Italian mail service sucking I (almost) never have to wait this long.

Call me naive but do many people search these offers, say buy 10 copies and then sell on ebay for a profit?

I have done this plenty of times. I did it with Last Remnant...Play were selling it iirc for £17.99 preorderI ordered 3 copies...I went and I got £35 from Cex for each copy 2 days after it was released.:lol

Game Mania stores in Belgium have a PS3-deal for €279 (fat PS3 + Uncharted, RFoM, DS3)

Currently lowest I could find around here.

It's a career for some people. They sit on HotUKDeals.co.uk, buy shit in bulk and sell it on. It's why so much goes out of stock so quickly.

Delivery time seems random at best. Sometimes I get my order in 5 days, sometimes it can take up to 2 weeks. They're cheap though, so it's a great site to buy games from if you're not in a rush to play them.

I've used the Hut, ordered about 5 things from them and one never turned up. Since it was a £5 Blu Ray I didn't bother chasing it up. Be a bit cautious, and yes there delivery is pretty slow.

I have used The Hut a lot from mainland Europe.

Stuff always shows up, though lately I have also pilfered those cheap sales for TV series and if they don't have the items in stock right away, you're in for a long wait.

My Klonoa order from Play.com went missing, I waited the 21 days and asked for them to re-send it. So far I've had no form in the post. In hindsight, asking them to re-send it was a stupid thing as it isn't in stock and I have a feeling it won't come back for a long time.

Are there any voucher codes floating around for Game.co.uk?
Just a £5 off £50 one:
lastminute09
Confirmed to be working yesterday. Source
£3 off £30 I miss you

Zavvi sent me the wrong edition of House of Flying Daggers. Again. Customer support evidently either can't or don't bother to read. Will have waited 1.5 months for the damn thing. That's assuming they finally decide to send me the Collector's Edition I paid for.

Don't know if use them any more. They're a bit tardy.

Loving the prices for PS3 stuff just now. Just ordered my Slim for £229, and KZ2, LBP, Uncharted and MGS4 for cheap off Amazon.

All i'm looking for now is a decent headset for cheap. Looked around a little and it seems reasonably expensive. Anyone got any reccomendations?

Also, I saw somebody mention a while ago that there was a sale on for Wipeout HD on PSN, does anyone know if that's still going?

Play.com is selling the official headset for 18 pounds.

The sale on Wipeout HD is long gone, but the game is worth the full price!

Nice one cheers.

Yeah I thought i'd missed the boat by a fair bit, but I thought i'd check. It does look ace so i'll be getting it either way.

I think House of the Dead has been temporarily removed, 'cos CDWow have sent a £2 off voucher to all their customers to 'celebrate' winning the Ashes... And the best deals mysteriously disappear. Voucher expires tomorrow.

Two additional data points about The Hut:

[Time of dispatch] [Time I clocked it in as being delivered]

[2009-07-30 Thu 18:24]--[2009-08-04 Tue 11:20] => 4 days 16 hours 56 minutes

[2009-07-16 Thu 20:11]--[2009-07-22 Wed 17:15] => 5 days 21 hours 4 minutes

This was from England to Germany.

Hope that helps.
