Cheat codes need to return. Busy gamers are in need.

So I've heard the busy people can buy cars crap said by Sessler regarding Forza 5 and now Yosp has repeated it regarding GT6.

So I thought there is a simple solution to help busy gamers get their monies worth from their games and enjoy them fully. They can just enter in cheat codes to unlock all cars. I know, I know. It's an absolutely revolutionary idea. Just like how people can skip to any page of a book they've bought without paying extra. Or skip to any part of a movie or TV show they've bought without paying extra. Or album or song.

Trophy gains would of course be disabled in these kind of scenarios.

#BringBackCheatCodes and #NoMicroTransactions need to be the next #NoDRM.

Cheats will never come back now that they've mutated into micro-transactions. Only place you can still cheat is the PC thanks to things like Cheat Engine.

Developers are not in the business of making decisions based on what's good for us. They're in the business of making us give them as much money as possible. Cheat codes are dead forever.

If it was legal to break into our homes and steal our wallets, they'd be doing it.

i dont care about cheats. i care about unlockables.

I want hidden stages/hidden characters.

I want Soul Calibur.
I want Mortal Kombat's krypt.

Time based cheats need to come back.

I never understood why the Goldeneye/Perfect Dark system never caught on. It was brilliant, added so much replay value and was just fuckin fun.

GTA5 may have them but they're pale attempts at what the old games have. The invincible cheat only lasting for a small time period is stupid, too.

one of the good things about playing on pc, to cheat a little bit... but also not really necessary if you don't think every game needs to be finished. you can very easily ruin enjoyment of a game with cheats. to some extent indirect cheats are already in various games and monetized through overpowered dlc items. when I get those items for free I often have to go out of my way to not use them to have fun playing the game as it was originally balanced

As well as using cheat engines on PC we can hack our consoles to use them too :).

Just like the old argument with DRM, those who pirate get more value than those who buy legitimately.

Agree with you there. Back when you got something worthy out of completing a game. For example Tekken or Crash Team Racing.

I miss them, but everytime they do show up once in awhile, they disable achievements. Even if it's something purely cosmetic.

It's all fucked up, especially as many games are competative MP so there is an argument that cheats or MTs shouldn't be in the game anyway.

While I avoid or buy used MT filled games, alot of ppl see them as a positive thing. My generation of 8bit gamers are in their 30s busy and don't have the time for grinding. Which is totally at odds with alot of younger gamers who love long grindy progression systems.

In an ideal world many progression systems outside MMOs and RPGs would be scrapped with the only progression system is the player getting skilled with practice rather than the bloody avatar leveling up. {rant over}

If it's easy to cheat it take the fun out of games for you & others.

I had a modded Xbox with trainers & it pretty much destroyed my gaming family some of us still haven't recovered lol.

Cheat codes are kinda sweet, sometimes. I think some of the Guitar Heroes had them?

Too bad publishers have replaced them with DLC :(.

Most have been replaced by letting you spend real money to get what you want.

Case in point: don't want to wait to get the grade bonuses in Tales of Graces f? No problem! Just log into the PSN Store to get whatever you desire...for a small fee.

Man, I miss the days of the Konami code...and I miss Konami.

Yep, I made this post in the GT6 thread in response to people defending microtransactions with 'folks are busy'. People seem to have forgotten about the glory days of the 90s.

Other than GTA the only current-gen game I've seen with cheat codes is Red Faction Guerrilla, and they've multiplied the time I've spent on the game.

If you own that game, after finishing it turn on the "Super Sledge" cheat. It's almost worth the whole price of the game.

Wait are we talking about unlockables or cheat codes? Cause unlockables were never typically accessible with cheats, not to mention they are still unlockables. You don't need to pay for them. I don't see developers offering traditional 'cheats' as micro transactions either, if I'm wrong please point me to some evidence.

Lastly, I hate this whole 'I'm too busy' attitude. Why are you in such a hurry? And if you have such a strong desire to skip through a game maybe just play something you enjoy more. Or find less time consuming hobby.

I really wish more games used cheat codes again. Devs seem to think that artificial progression by grinding, i.e., unlocking cars in Forza or leveling up is something we want to spend 200hrs on.

Actually in my experience unlockables were accessible with cheats.
